Abstract: This paper reports on a method of assembling semiconducting ZnO nanowires onto a pair of Au electrodes to construct a metal--semiconductor--metal (MSM) structure by dielectrophoresis and studying on its electrical characteristics by using current-voltage ($I-V$) measurements. An electronic model with two back to back Schottky diodes in series with a semiconductor of nanowires was established to study the electrical transport of the MSM structures. By fitting the measured $I-V$ characteristics using the proposed model, the parameters of the Schottky contacts and the resistance of nanowires could be acquired. The photoelectric properties of the MSM structures were also investigated by analysing the measurements of the electrical transports under various light intensities. The deduced results demonstrate that ZnO nanowires and their Schottky contacts with Au electrodes both contribute to photosensitivity and the MSM structures with ZnO nanowires are potentially applicable for photonic devices.
A Simplified Cold Atom Source for 3-D MOT Loading

Abstract: 【目的】上颚腺(mandibulargland)是昆虫重要的外分泌腺,它产生的化学物质在昆虫的种内信息交流中起重要的作用。本研究目的在于了解中华蜜蜂Apisceranacerana上颚腺的组织结构以及胚后发育特点。【方法】本研究通过组织形态学、BrdU免疫组织化学等技术,对中华蜜蜂上颚腺的结构和发育过程进行了比较研究。【结果】中华蜜蜂的上颚腺在不同级型间差异显著,蜂王的面积最大,工蜂较小,而雄蜂退化。上颚腺出现在末龄幼虫到预蛹阶段,细胞分裂活动的高峰期发生在蛹发育的第1天,随后分裂细胞数减少,并一直持续到蛹发育的第6天结束。在上颚腺发育早期,由分泌细胞分化的内膜就已经出现,并一直保持到成虫。【结论】本研究为昆虫上颚腺的发育和功能研究提供了理论基础。
Experimental Investigation on a Highly Sensitive Atomic Magnetometer

Abstract: A highly sensitive all-optical atomic magnetometer based on the magnetooptical effect which uses the advanced technique of single laser beam detection is reported and demonstrated experimentally. A sensitivity of 0.5pT/Hz1/2 is obtained by analyzing the magnetic noise spectrum, which exceeds that of most traditional magnetometers. This kind of atomic magnetometer is very compact, has a low power consumption, and has a high theoretical sensitivity limit, which make it suitable for many applications.
Characterization of a velocity-tunable 87Rb cold atomic source with a high-speed imaging technology

Abstract: This paper has developed and characterized a method to produce a velocity-tunable $^{87}$Rb cold atomic source for atomic interferometry application. Using a high speed fluorescence imaging technology, it reports that the dynamic process of the atomic source formation is observed and the source performances including the flux and the initial velocity are characterized. A tunable atomic source with the initial velocity of 1.4$\sim $2.6~m/s and the atomic source flux of $2\times 10^{8}\sim 6\times 10^{9}$ atoms/s has been obtained with the built experimental setup.

Abstract: We demonstrate an experimental setup for the production of a beam source of cold 87Rb atoms. The atoms are extracted from a trapped cold atomic cloud in an unbalanced three-dimensional magneto-optical trap. Via a radiation pressure difference generated by a specially designed leak tunnel along one trapping laser beam, the atoms are pushed out continuously with low velocities and a high flux. The most-probable velocity in the beam is varied from 9 m/s to 19 m/s by varying the detuning of the trapping laser beams in the magneto-optical trap and the flux can be tuned up to 4×109 s-1 by increasing the intensity of the trapping beams. We also present a simple model for describing the dependence of the beam performance on the magneto-optical trap trapping laser intensity and the detuning.

Stabilization and Shift of Frequency in an External Cavity Diode Laser with Solenoid-Assisted Saturated Absorption

Abstract: A simple method to realize both stabilization and shift of the frequency in an external cavity diode laser (ECDL) is reported. Due to the Zeeman effect, the saturated absorption spectrum of Rb atoms in a magnetic field is shifted. This shift can be used to detune the frequency of the ECDL, which is locked to the saturated absorption spectrum. The frequency shift amount can be controlled by changing the magnetic field for a specific polarization state of the laser beam. The advantages of this tunable frequency lock include low laser power requirement, without additional power loss, cheapness, and so on.
