Abstract: The multimedia applications in a multiresolution environment, such as progressive transmission of image,image database browsing, etc. , arise scalable image coding algorithm. This paper first explains the concepts of all kinds of scalable image coding, and gives an analyse for the scalable image coding algorithms in JPEG and JPEG-2000. Secondly, an overview of major methods already used or under investigation for scalable image coding based on Wavelet, DCT and Matching Pursuit with the scalable coding tools and methods is introduced, and the decoder performance comparison among the three kinds of scalable coding is given. In addition, the trend of the three kinds of scalable coding and their extension in video scalable coding is discussed. Finally, the future development of image coding is also analyzed and conjectured in the paper.

Abstract: With the development of Internet,more and more applications start to use the media streaming . The video scalable coding technique,one of core technology in media streaming,have been thought as the important study field. This paper fist provides an overview of the fine granularity scalabiliaty(FGS)video coding technique in the Amendment of the MPEG-4,and discusses the several extensible features of FGS coding and its defects. In addition,the research progress on fine granularity scalability video coding for Internet is analyzed. Finally,the state of arts and possible new directions of FGS are stated.

Abstract: With the emergence of digital TV,online meeting and Video-On-Demand,more and more image information need to transmit on the net.People at this moment request not only better compression,but also progressive transmis- sion of image and image database browsing,etc.This paper has put forward a PSNR scalable image coding method based on wavelet statistical characteristic and bit-plane technique.Combining lifting scheme wavelet transform and a- rithmetic coding,the method constructs different bit-planes according to the target bit rates so as to achieve PSNR scal- ability.The experimental results prove,that the proposed method can he implemented simply and achieve high code/ decode spee and good compression quality.Moreover,on the premise of high coding quality,the method can realize im- age's PSNR scalable coding.

Abstract: 图像有好的视觉质量又要有高的鲁棒性是当今数字水印研究的热点与难点之一。提出了一种在确定图像质量的前提下具有高鲁棒性的公开水印算法,在其嵌入算法中,首先确定嵌入水印图像的质量——通过控制图像的峰值信噪比(PSNR)来实现,再根据图像所要达到的峰值信噪比来设计水印嵌入步长;另外,水印信号是通过权平均的方式迭加量化到图像DCT域的多个低中频系数上,根据人眼视觉系统(human visual system)的特性,按图像内容自适应量化嵌入,很好地解决了不可见性和鲁棒性之间的矛盾。实验结果表明,该水印算法能保证图像具有很高的视觉质量,同时对于常见的图像处理和攻击具有很好的鲁棒性。

Abstract: The study of texture features extraction as a hot but difficult research topic is an important approach to image retrieval and scenery recognize. In recent years, image processing and analysis based on wavelet territory receives many attentions. But the study of image features based on wavelet territory is relatively slow. In this paper we firstly studied the texture features of image and discussed the process of incomplete tree-structured wavelet transform. Then we studied the texture features extraction based on incomplete tree-structured wavelet transform. Some new types of texture features extraction is proposed in this paper especially. Two methods of direction features extraction has been put forward. We also gave the process and scope of the application. The experiments show the effectiveness of these methods.

Abstract: Rate control scheme plays an important role in improving and smoothing the decoding video quality.Over the years,rate control techniques have been studied very intensively for various standards and applications,such as video conferencing with H.261 and H.263,storage media with MPEG-1 and MPEG-2,and the recent video object coding with MPEG-4.This paper firstly described the basis of rate control problem.And secondly classic rate control technology in the standard was introduced.Thirdly we summed up the present techniques as three kinds: rate control technique based on DCT video coder,rate control technique based on wavelet video coder and rate allocation of Fine Granular Scalable video coding.Then we generally discussed and compared the three kinds of methods including the core idea and the advantages and disadvantages of every algorithm of each kind of techniques.Finally,the state of art and possible new directions of rate control were stated.

Abstract: The embedded zerotree wavelet(EZW)coding is a simple and yet remarkably effective image coding algorithm. There are a lot of factors influencing the performance of EZW algorithm. This paper highlights three main factors out of them: the type of image, the wavelet basis function and the number of wavelet decompositions. By numerous comparative experiments, the impact of the above three factors on the performance of EZW algorithm is examined. Through careful analysis and discussion, some correlative conclusions are drawn, which will contribute much to exert potential coding efficiency of EZW algorithm. Also, these conclusions can provide a good reference for the applications of the improved algorithms based on EZW.
