Abstract: The microbial immobilization method using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) gel as an immobilizing material was improved and used for entrapment of activated sludge. The OUR (oxygen uptake rate) was used to characterize the biological activity of immobilized activated sludge. Three kinds of PVA-immobilized particles of activated sludge, that is, PVA-boric acid beads, PVA-sodium nitrate beads and PVA-orthophosphate beads was prepared, and their biological activity was compared by measuring the OUR value. The bioactivity of both autotrophic and heterotrophic microorganisms of activated sludge was determined using different synthetic wastewater media (containing 250 mg/L COD and 25 mg/L NH4 -N). The experimental results showed that the bioactivity and stability of the three kinds of immobilized activated sludge was greatly improved after activation. With respect of the bioactivity and the mechanical stability, the PVA-orthophosphate method may be a promising and economical technique for microbial immobilization.
Reproduction of superior sagittal sinus animal model by bypass transplantation of biomaterial graft

Abstract: Objective To establish the beagles model of superior sagittal sinus bypass graft,and explore the feasibility of reconstruction of superior sagittal sinus with biomaterials using this model.Methods Eight adult male beagles(weight: 12.5-22.0kg) were involved in the present study.The superior sagittal sinus was exposed and blocked via bone window,and then anastomosed side-to-end to the biomaterial graft under the dedicated microscope of neurosurgery surgery,expectant treatment such as anti-inflammatory was given for the animals.The digital subtraction venography(DSV) and color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI) of superior sagittal sinus were performed in 1,2,4 and 8 weeks after the operation.Eight weeks after the operation,all the animals were sacrificed and the material graft was examined histologically.Results The DSV and CDFI of superior sagittal sinus showed that the stomas of 2 beagles were with slight stenosis and high flow velocity,of 1 beagle with small leakage and low flow velocity,while of other 5 beagles were normal.The histological examination showed endothelial cells were growing on the graft and superior sagittal sinus,and crawling toward the lumen of graft 8 weeks after the operation.Conclusion The beagles model of superior sagittal sinus bypass graft was established successfully.The short-term effect of the model was satisfactory,while further work should be performed to determine the long-term effects.
A NON-ADIABATIC MODEL OF SINGLE BUBBLE SONOLUMINESCENCE

Abstract: A non-adiabatic model of single bubble sonoluminescence has been advanced through considering the energy dissipation caused by light emission. The bubble dynamical equations with a black-body radiation have been solved numerically. The results show that without introduciag any model parameter, this model not only can well reproduce the experimental phenomena in the time scale of microsecond of the adiabatic model can do, but also can obtain a 40-100 ps of flash duration and a 104 K effective temperature of the black-body radiation. These agree with the experiment quite well.
Predicting Aqueous Solubility of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons by the MCI Approach

Abstract: Correlation for estimation of the aqueous solubility (logSw) of chlorinatedhydrocarbons molecules is proposed. The MCI based quantitative structure-propertyrelationship (QSPR) model proposed is predictive and requires only three connectivityindices in the calculation. The correlation equation obtained which is based on a training setof 50 chlorinated hydrocarbons has a correlation coefficient of 0.9670 and a standard errorof 0.44 log10 units. Application of the developed model to a testing set of 73 chlorinatedhydrocarbons demonstrates that the new model is reliable with good predictive accuracy andsimple formulation. Besides, the model does not require any experimental physicochemicalproperties in the calculation, so it is easy to apply, especially in cases where it isinconvenient or impossible to measure the physicochemical properties.

Abstract: To improve the performance of embedded graphic midware, this paper analyzed the time and space complexity of clip region which is a key technique used in the multiwindow system, and proposed an optimal switching algorithm according to the characteristics of multiwindow operation and embedded system. Application and simulation test have proved that the algorithm works well and runs faster.
Infinite-dimensional 3-algebra and integrable system

Abstract: The relation between the infinite-dimensional 3-algebras and the dispersionless KdV hierarchy is investigated. Based on the infinite-dimensional 3-algebras, we derive two compatible Nambu Hamiltonian structures. Then the dispersionless KdV hierarchy follows from the Nambu-Poisson evolution equation given the suitable Hamiltonians. We find that the dispersionless KdV system is not only a bi-Hamiltonian system, but also a bi-Nambu-Hamiltonian system. Due to the Nambu-Poisson evolution equation involving two Hamiltonians, more intriguing relationships between these Hamiltonians are revealed. As an application, we investigate the system of polytropic gas equations and derive an integrable gas dynamics system in the framework of Nambu mechanics.
Wenxiang: a web-server for drawing wenxiang diagrams  [PDF]

Abstract: The wenxiang diagram was proposed to represent α-helices in a 2D (two dimensional) space (Chou, K.C., Zhang, C.T., Maggiora, G.M. Proteins: Struct., Funct., Genet., 1997, 28, 99-108). It has the capacity to provide more information in a 2D plane about each of the constituent amino acid residues in an α-helix, and is particularly useful for studying and analyzing amphiphilic helices. To meet the increasing requests for getting the program of generating wenxiang diagrams, a user-friendly web-server called “Wenxiang” has been established. It is accessible to the public at the web-site http://www.jci-bioinfo.cn/wenxiang2 or http://icpr.jci.edu.cn/bioinfo/wenxiang2. Further- more, for the convenience of users, here we provide a step-to-step guide for how to use the Wenxiang web-server to generate the desired wenxiang diagrams.
On $W_{1+\infty}$ 3-algebra and integrable system

Abstract: We construct the $W_{1+\infty}$ 3-algebra and investigate the relation between this infinite-dimensional 3-algebra and the integrable systems. Since the $W_{1+\infty}$ 3-algebra with a fixed generator $W^0_0$ in the operator Nambu 3-bracket recovers the $W_{1+\infty}$ algebra, it is natural to derive the KP hierarchy from the Nambu-Poisson evolution equation. For the general case of the $W_{1+\infty}$ 3-algebra, we directly derive the KP and KdV equations from the Nambu-Poisson evolution equation with the different Hamiltonian pairs. We also discuss the connection between the $W_{1+\infty}$ 3-algebra and the dispersionless KdV equations. Due to the Nambu-Poisson evolution equation involves two Hamiltonians, the deep relationship between the Hamiltonian pairs of KP hierarchy is revealed. Furthermore we give a realization of $W_{1+\infty}$ 3-algebra in terms of a complex bosonic field. Based on the Nambu 3-brackets of the complex bosonic field, we derive the (generalized) nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation and give an application in optical soliton.

Abstract: 对国产荚蒾属Viburnum Linn.植物花粉的光学显微镜及扫描电镜观察表明:1.花粉特征在组间的分类学意义不大,而在组内的每一种都具各自的花粉特征。2.表面纹饰类型包括(1)外壁具半覆盖层,网状纹饰,网脊光滑;(2)外壁具半覆盖层,网状纹饰,网脊上具瘤状突起;(3)外壁无覆盖层或部分成半覆盖层,具鼓锤状基柱或基柱网,基柱顶端具瘤状突起。3.沟类型包括:(1)沟沿处外壁无覆盖层;(2)沟沿处外壁具半覆盖层,网状纹饰;(3)沟沿处外壁具覆盖层;(4)在一极形成合沟。内孔类型包括(1)看不见明显的孔膜;(2)孔膜半球状,与外壁不连续;(3)孔膜半球状,与外壁相连续;(4)孔膜半椭圆球状,纵长;(5)孔膜半椭圆球状,横架于沟间而类似于桥。文中同时对若干组内分类学问题进行了探讨。
Decreased Serum Hepcidin Concentration Correlates with Brain Iron Deposition in Patients with HBV-Related Cirrhosis

Abstract: Purpose Excessive brain iron accumulation contributes to cognitive impairments in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related cirrhotic patients. The underlying mechanism remains unclear. Hepcidin, a liver-produced, 25-aminoacid peptide, is the major regulator of systemic iron metabolism. Abnormal hepcidin level is a key factor in some body iron accumulation or deficiency disorders, especially in those associated with liver diseases. Our study was aimed to explore the relationship between brain iron content in patients with HBV-related cirrhosis and serum hepcidin level. Methods Seventy HBV-related cirrhotic patients and forty age- sex-matched healthy controls were enrolled. Brain iron content was quantified by susceptibility weighted phase imaging technique. Serum hepcidin as well as serum iron, serum transferrin, ferritin, soluble transferrin receptor, total iron binding capacity, and transferrin saturation were tested in thirty cirrhotic patients and nineteen healthy controls. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to investigate correlation between brain iron concentrations and serum hepcidin, or other iron parameters. Results Cirrhotic patients had increased brain iron accumulation compared to controls in the left red nuclear, the bilateral substantia nigra, the bilateral thalamus, the right caudate, and the right putamen. Cirrhotic patients had significantly decreased serum hepcidin concentration, as well as lower serum transferring level, lower total iron binding capacity and higher transferrin saturation, compared to controls. Serum hepcidin level negatively correlated with the iron content in the right caudate, while serum ferritin level positively correlated with the iron content in the bilateral putamen in cirrhotic patients. Conclusions Decreased serum hepcidin level correlated with excessive iron accumulation in the basal ganglia in HBV-related cirrhotic patients. Our results indicated that systemic iron overload underlined regional brain iron repletion. Serum hepcidin may be a clinical biomarker for brain iron deposition in cirrhotic patients, which may have therapeutic potential.
