THE STRUCTURAL FABRIC AND SEISMOTECTONIC ACTIVITY OF NORTHERN VELEBIT: SOME NEW OBSERVATIONS
Eduard Prelogovi?,Vlado Kuk,Renato Buljan
Rudarsko-Geolo?ko-Naftni Zbornik , 1998,
Abstract: A permanent seismotectonic activity is present in the region of northern Velebit. Through history a number of earthquakes magnitudes of VIII° and IX° MCS are reported. In this century the most powerful earthquake of a magnitude of 5.8 occurred in 1916. The key tectonic movements that cause these earthquakes are dislocations of the Adriatic platform towards the north and the resistance of the Dinarides towards these movements. The tectonic dynamics of a structural arrangement depend on the relationship between stress and the deformation of structural units. According to the tectonic measurements performed on outcrops of major faults the following orientation of stress was obtained: from 20/25° to 200/205° in the northern Velebit region and 340 to 160° in the hinterland. Within the structural arrangement compression of space occurs which is well pronounced in the Novi Vinodolski area. Possible deformation of structures is manifested spatial diagonal reverse displacements accompanied by rotation of the structure. In the Velebit hinterland right horizontal tectonic transport was determined. In the zone of the transcurrent faull uta Lokva-Oto ac-Buni the spatial opening leads to the formation of pull-apart structures. Seismotectonically active zones occur in the contact region between the Adriatic platform and the Dinaridcs. Spatially its position is inclined and bent.
A Higher Education Leadership Distance Ph.D. Program: An Assessment Using Blocher’s Ecological Learning Theory  [PDF]
Linda Kuk, James H. Banning
Creative Education (CE) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2014.59082
Abstract:

This study utilized a case study approach to discuss the issues of distance education in the delivery of doctoral education. The case study provided abroad background to the issues of distance education graduate programs and an assessment of the case. Blocher’s (1974) Ecological Learning Theory is applied to the case to provide for analytical generalization. The results support the need for distance delivery of academic programs to consider both the content and the program’s delivery structure as important components in realizing student success.

SOCIJALNA POLITIKA I SOCIJALNE DJELATNOSTI U HRVATSKOJ U RAZDOBLJU 1900.-1960. GODINE
Vlado Puljiz
Ljetopis Studijskog Centra Socijalnog Rada , 2006,
Abstract: U ovom radu autor raspravlja o tri razdoblja u razvoju socijalne politike i socijalnih djelatnosti u Hrvatskoj u vremenskom rasponu izme u 1900. i 1960. godine.Prvo razdoblje prethodi 1. svjetskom ratu, a autor ga naziva krajem dugog 19. stolje a . Drugo razdoblje obilje ava vrijeme izme u dva svjetska rata kada Hrvatska dospijeva u nepovoljniji razvojni kontekst nego u doba austrougarske monarhije. Tada nja dr ava, Kraljevina Srba, Hrvata i Slovenaca (od 1931. godine Kraljevina Jugoslavija), donosi prve zna ajne socijalne zakone, ali ih, zbog vi e razloga, nije u stanju primijeniti. U gradovima se pojavljuje sve vi e socijalnih problema, a slabo razvijene socijalne institucije civilnog dru tva mogu ih sanirati tek u marginalnoj mjeri.

Thermodynamic analysis based on the second-order variations of thermodynamic potentials
Lubarda Vlado A.
Theoretical and Applied Mechanics , 2008, DOI: 10.2298/tam0803215l
Abstract: An analysis of the Gibbs conditions of stable thermodynamic equilibrium based on the constrained minimization of the four fundamental thermodynamic potentials, is presented with a particular attention given to the previously unexplored connections between the second-order variations of thermodynamic potentials. These connections are used to establish the convexity properties of all potentials in relation to each other, which systematically deliver thermodynamic relationships between the specific heats, and the isentropic and isothermal bulk moduli and compressibilities. The comparison with the classical derivation is then given.
Organizational learning and information-communication technologies– a promising link

Zbornik Radova Ekonomskog Fakulteta u Rijeci : ?asopis za Ekonomsku Teoriju i Praksu , 2004,
Abstract: Highly turbulent and competitive business environment has directed a focus of many researchers as well as practitioners on to the field of organizational learning as a way of gaining and sustaining competitiveadvantage. One of the most important issues is its relation to information-communication technologies. The purpose of this paper is to examine prior research and propose a model linking Organizational Learning construct (OL) to Information-communication technologies (ICT). Using structural equationmodeling methodology, we tested this relationship based on the data from 220 questionnaires received from top managers of 867 Slovenian companies with more than 100 employees in the year 2003. Our research demonstrates statistically significant positive correlation between OL and ICT.
Active ageing on the company level: the theory vs. the day-to-day practice in Slovenia
Jana ?nidar?i?,Vlado Dimovski
Economic and Business Review , 2009,
Abstract: The need to improve the labour market participation of older people has received ever greater attention in recent years, especially in view of the significant demographic changes the European Union will undergo due to population ageing. Besides the macroeconomic level, implications of this trend are strongly seen at the company level, particularly when it comes to managing the ageing workforce. Companies are thus introducing new approaches, policies and instruments which seek to foster the higher employment rates of the elderly by implementing the active-ageing concept in business and HRM practice. The paper aims to highlight the development of active-ageing initiatives within Slovenian companies where the practice of age management is still in its early stages. Consequently, we shed light on problems and obstacles appearing in the developmental process of implementing the active-ageing concept in Slovenian companies, and conclude with some recommendations for the future development of active-ageing practice with an emphasis on new HRM approaches, policies and instruments which seem to be extremely important when striving to prolong working life.
Numerical modeling of the winter circulation of the Gulf of Trieste (northern Adriatic)
Vlado MALA?I?,Boris PETELIN
Acta Adriatica , 2006,
Abstract: Numerical simulations of the winter circulation in and around the Gulf of Trieste are presented. The model, based on the architecture of the Princeton Ocean Model, gave reasonable results for circulation in the Gulf during the winter period, when the dominant bora wind is blowing. Three model runs with different initial and surface boundary conditions show that there is an outflow along the shallow northern coastline of the Gulf and over the surface of the major part of the area, and an inflow at depth in the central and southern parts of the Gulf. However, the variability of the temperature and salinity fields when vertical fluxes of heat and salinity are present cause a weak outflow in an area near the southern part of the Gulf, and make the general circulation pattern more complex.
