Revista Tamoios , 2011,

Abstract: the purpose of this study was to compare the performance in one repetition maximum (1rm) testing using two different test protocols in a bench press exercise. a total of 17 weight-trained men performed two protocols to determine the 1rm bench press exercise. in protocol a, the weight should be lifted for one repetition per attempt until fail on the next attempt. in protocol b, subjects should lift the weight for two repetitions in each attempt and the heaviest weight that could be lifted until a concentric muscle action fail at the second repetition was considered as representative of 1rm. each subject performed the two protocols and the testing order was randomly assigned and balanced between the subjects. significant difference between protocols a and b was found. the results suggest that protocols a and b using by 1rm testing in bench press exercise were not interchangeable.
Corrêa, Andréa Aparecida Ribeiro;Teixeira, Vitor Hugo;Lopes, Sebasti?o Pereira;Oliveira, Marcelo Silva de;
Ciência e Agrotecnologia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-70542006000300017
Abstract: aim at verifying the feasibility of the adobe brick for housing construction, a research was carried out to evaluate the mechanical and physical characteristics of the material and to define production procedures and methods, establishing therefore the criteria to improve the product quality. the soil chosen was distrofic (red yellow) latosoil that is typical in south region of minas gerais state. humidity levels and granulometric correction with medium sand (0.25-0.50mm) were adopted according to hernandez et al. (1983) and pacheco & dias júnior (1990). the production followed two processes, one of them with compressed dirt blocks (cdb) using manual press mcr-1 tecmor, called as ap (23x11x5,0 cm) and another handicraft wood mold brick called bta size of the bricks are: ba (23x11x5.5 cm), ca (29x14x10 cm) e da (29x14x14 cm). after the manufacturing, the adobes were submitted to flexion and compression resistance tests, with weight, volume, density and humidity monitoring, in three drying distinct periods, which were ranged in seven, twenty-one and thirty-five days. after the adobes were placed in a close room, a shed and an unprotected place subject to weather changes. to analyze the data, a factorial design was used with four replications, with the use of the tukey test at 5% of error level. the production of btc did not present satisfactory results when compared with the production of bta. the ba size presented the best results for compression and flexion resistance. the stabilization with medium sand in clay soils provides the production of adobes with minor contraction. the shed protection is ideal for the cure process. the resistance to compression achieved higher levels compared to the ones found in the bibliographic references. we concluded that the production of adobe following the criteria defined in the research, such as appropriate humidity, medium sand stabilization, "maromba", the care during production and drying, resulted in bricks of superior quality

Revista Brasileira de Fruticultura , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-29452002000300038
Abstract: the goals of this work were to evaluate the influence of the irrigation on the cashew apple production and the ratio of apple: nut weights in dwarf cashew (anacardium occidentale l.). three clones were evaluated (cp 09, cp 76 and cp 1001), under four irrigation levels (a: control - without irrigation; b: irrigation with 1 day interval; c: with 3 days interval, and d: with 5 days interval). the experimental design was in randomized blocks, with split-split plots and four replicates, with irrigation levels in plots and clones in splited-plots, each one with four plants. the amount of water used was based on information from class a evaporation pan. the results led to the following conclusions: the response of dwarf cashew to the irrigation is dependent of genotype; cp 76 presents the biggest ratio of apple: nut weights, what elects in the clone more suitable for production of apples for in natura consumption; clone cp 1001 is more adapted for dry ground conditions.

Vitor Hugo Klein Jr
Desenvolvimento em Quest?o , 2012,
Abstract: Maturity has been little addressed by organization studies. This is, however, a relevant issue, especially when considering the various criticisms against the manager profession on the harmful consequences of it to stakeholders and to society, as exemplified by scandals and systemic crises. This theoretical essay aims to present a three-dimensional matrix of maturity developed from an interdisciplinary basis. The conceptual matrix addresses maturity through three dimensions: individual/social, psychological and political. It is advocated that the achievement of maturity involves the various capacities of the individual to face his internal and external reality, as well as his ability to act in the world. The analysis here developed offers the following conclusions: (a) maturity is not only dependent on the individual but on the relationships established in group as well; (b) the phenomenon has unconscious origins, which may determine part of behavior and relationships in groups; and (c) maturity is intimately related to balanced, reflexive and participatory human action.

Revista Sociedade & Natureza , 2004,
Abstract: This document aims to understand the Central Area as it is nowadays as well as its late dynamics. During the twentieth century, that area has faced several and significant trasformations, which have affected the whole town, causing its commercial and service activities spatial structures to modify. Admist such process, one can claerly see a redesigning of the core, which no longer mopolizes commercial or service activities, sharing them with the other non-central areas from the town.
