Abstract: when borges let us know the humanity of the murderer who lived in his casa de asterión, our initial sorrow became soon in tragic identity. the works we analyse here show us how poets of nowadays are well conscious of this fact and share the same fear as us. perhaps this is the reason why in their poetry they prefer to focus on the last monster's thoughts before his death. in this way, they not only pay their tribute to borges but also remind us how we, modern men, will beg for our death too.

When Borges let us know the humanity of the murderer who lived in his Casa de Asterión, our initial sorrow became soon in tragic identity. The works we analyse here show us how poets of nowadays are well conscious of this fact and share the same fear as us.

Abstract: the dialysis dose affects survival of patients undergoing dialysis, as well as affecting the correction of anaemia, the nutritional state and the control of blood pressure, among others. some authors have indicated the dialysis fluid flow rate as a determining factor in the dialysis dose for patients undergoing high-flow haemodialysis and haemodiafiltration. the aim of this study is to evaluate the impact on the dialysis efficacy of different flow rates of dialysis fluid in patients treated with on-line post-dilution haemodiafiltration and conventional haemodialysis, by measuring the final convective volume and rinse solution volume of small molecules using kt. in all patients, 9 consecutive dialysis sessions were carried out varying the qd: 3 sessions with qd 500 ml/min, 3 sessions with qd 800 ml/min and 2 sessions with autoflow. from the results obtained, kt is shown to be significantly higher with qd 800 ml/min (59.69 ± 6.07 litres) compared to qd 500 ml/min (56.51 ± 6.33 litres, p<0.001) and autoflow (58.02 ± 4.89 litres); and kt in autoflow was found to be higher (p<0.001) than qd 500 ml/min. the increase in flow rate of dialysis fluid means an increase in the dialysis dose in patients treated with online haemodiafiltration. the autoflow achieves an appreciable increase in dose compared to qd of 500 ml/min with a minimum additional cost, and should therefore be considered as a measure in an overall treatment framework, permitting individualization of treatment for each patient.

Abstract: Mortality data for the period 1976 through 2005 were obtained from the Spanish National Statistics Institute. Cases were identified using the International Classification of Diseases 9th and 10th revision (codes 151 and C16, respectively). Crude and standardized mortality rates were calculated by geographic area, sex, and five-year period. Joinpoint regression analyses were performed to ascertain whether changes in gastric cancer mortality trends had occurred, and to estimate the annual percent change by sex and geographic area.Gastric cancer mortality decreased across the study period, with the downward trend being most pronounced in women and in certain regions situated in the interior and north of mainland Spain. Across the study period, there was an overall decrease of 2.90% per annum among men and 3.65% per annum among women. Generally, regions in which the rate of decline was sharpest were those that had initially registered the highest rates. However, the rate of decline was not constant throughout the study period: joinpoint analysis detected a shift in trend for both sexes in the early 1980s.Gastric cancer mortality displayed in both sexes a downward trend during the study period, both nationally and regionally. The different trend in rates in the respective geographic areas translated as greater regional homogeneity in gastric cancer mortality by the end of the study period. In contrast, rates in women fell more than did those in men. The increasing differences between the sexes could indicate that some risk factors may be modifying the sex-specific pattern of this tumor.Gastric cancer (GC) is the second leading cause of oncologic death worldwide [1,2], due to its elevated incidence and lethality; in many countries survival at five years of diagnosis is under 20% [3]. This cancer, with higher rates in males and sex ratios generally close to 2, displays wide geographic variability. In Japan, China and some regions of Eastern Europe and Latin America (Chile,

In order to better understand complex media devices that make possible social reproduction of Orientalism, this article focuses on the analysis of the textual strategies through which Spanish cinema reproduces many of the stereotypes associated in Spanish social imaginary to the figure of the Moor.

Abstract: During the last two decades, and specially at the end of the eighties and the beginning of the nineties, the professional specialization in building maintenance, and also the concept of "Integral Maintenance", were both developed in Spain. There are not many new contributions in this field. In most cases, techniques and ideas implanted and used in countries with higher real estate culture and tradition were imported. This paper is based on the conclusions of a conference celebrated last year in the "Fundación Cultural COAM" of the Architects Association of Madrid, and it was included in a Course of Specialization in Building Maintenance. Different agents involved in building management were discussed as well as the basis of the "Integral Maintenance" It would be necessary to say that the structural, finishing materials and facilities aspects have not deep analyzed, because of they were separately studied in other conferences of the mentioned Course.
