Scrape cytology in the early diagnosis of eyelid sebaceous carcinoma

Abstract: The low incidence and the non-specific clinical symptoms led us to conclude that the diagnosis of a sebaceous carcinoma of the eyelid often occurs very late. Sebaceous carcinoma of the ocular adnexa is a malignant neoplasm which can exhibit aggressive local behavior, can have pagetoid spread and can metastasize to regional lymph nodes and distant organs. The neoplasm is known to masquerade as other benign and less malignant lesions, and has relatively high morbidity and mortality. Scrape cytology was done in a 70-year-old female with a tumor in left upper lid. Cytological smears were suggestive of sebaceous carcinoma. Subsequently, histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of sebaceous gland carcinoma. The article highlights the role of scrape cytology in early diagnosis and subsequent appropriate surgical management of eyelid sebaceous gland carcinoma, to prevent recurrence and metastasis.

Abstract: Ni-Zn ferrite with a nominal composition of Ni1-xZnxFe2O4 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.6, 0.8, 0.9) are prepared by citrate gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction. Magnetic properties of all samples are obtained by using VSM (Vibrating Sample Magnetometer) in the range of 10 Koe. The saturation magnetization values of the samples are carried out from the B-H loop. The effect of composition on saturation magnetization and magnetic moment are studied in this paper. The results showed that Saturation magnetization and magnetic moment values increases gradually as Zn2+ composition increases, it reaches maximum value 70.28 emu/gm for (x = 0.6) and decreases further with increasing Zn2+ composition.

Abstract: Palynological investigation of the Denwa Formation exposed along Denwa river succession at Saptadara picnic point near village Jhirpa, Satpura Basin, Madhya Pradesh, has revealed the presence of spore-pollen, fungal remains and Oribatid mites. Here, the mites are on record for the first time. Presence of fungal remains strongly depicts the prevalence of a very humid climate with high temperature and rainfall in the region. Poor occurrence of spore-pollen restricts the age determination of the studied section; hence, its age assessment is relative. Thus, an over-view of spore-pollen along with dinocysts and insects reported earlier from the subsurface strata comprising Denwa Formation, from other two localities in the nearby area of village Anhoni, is dealt herein, and that had inferred an age—range from Carnian to Rhaetic for the palynoflora and fauna.
Perturbation of Emc Microstrip Patch Antenna for Permittivity and Permeability Measurements

Abstract: The complex permittivity and permeability of barium hexaferrite in the 8-12 GHz range was determined by using perturbation of electromagnetically coupled Ag thick film patch antenna due to overlay. In this technique even minor change in the overlay material properties changes the antenna response. The power gain of the EMC patch antenna was enhanced by 50% due to barium hexaferrite overlay. Barium hexaferrite was synthesized by co precipitation method and their fritless thick films were fabricated by screen printing technique. The properties were found to depend on the synthesis conditions such as Fe/Ba molar ratio, pH of the solution.
A Study on Change in the Attitude of Students towards English Language Learning

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to find out whether there is any change in the attitude of students towards English Language Learning (ELL) when they come for college education after completing the school education. The transformation in the attitude of students from school to college was examined in terms of marks, interest towards English language, self- motivation to learn the language, participation in the class, understanding the importance of English in securing a job and learner-centred language teaching methods that ensure more freedom to the learners. About 52 first year Mechanical Engineering students from Tamil medium stream took part in this research. To examine their shift in attitude towards ELL, an attitude questionnaire was administered and a semi-structured interview was conducted. The findings of the study indicated that there was a significant shift in their attitude towards ELL at their college level.

A simple and rapid Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) Method has been developed to isolate and characterize the S-Isomer of Montelukast by using normal phase Amylose based AS-H with 250 mm × 30 mm, 5 microns column using a mobile phase system containing super critical fluid carbon dioxide (CO2) and the percentage of 2-Propanol as a mobile phase (85:15) and detection at 230 nm. The isolated S-Isomer was characterized by using FT-IR, ESI-MS, HPLC and 1H NMR. The purity of isolated S-Isomer is about 98%.

Abstract: Small Entrepreneurs are major contributors to the economic growth and job creation. In this research an attempt is made to explore the factors and strategies contributing to the success and failures of the products of small entrepreneurs. It does not identify industry specific strategies and factors, managerial abilities or other specific characteristics related to successful operation of small entrepreneurs. This paper provides guidelines for the success of the products for small entrepreneurs. This could help to improve the ability of small entrepreneurs to develop and prosper in an increasing competitive and complex world. A model has been developed to forecast the success or failure of the product which will be useful for small entrepreneurs.

Abstract: Modern Angioplasty is an alternative to bypass heart surgery because of safety and validity. As we know that the Heart diseases has risen to become that number of deaths in most of the developing or developed countries due to the high increase rates of obesity, drug dependence, and diabetes. Stents are used throughout the body but the most critical area being coronary arteries. Convention Material like Stainless Steel 316LN is used before, now a day’s Smart Materials like Nitinol is having wider application in Angioplasty. This paper presents the comparison and limitations of the Shape memory alloy [Nitinol] technology with that of Laser technology. The several materials used in angioplasty for stenting are Stainless steel 316LN, Titanium and Nitinol. Laser technology finds more beneficial due to its rapid growth in technology and also more advantageous because of the alloys used are resistant to corrosion, yet the corrosion occurs when two dissimilar surfaces are in contact and this happens in almost all alloys These devices have been used for only a few years and, although initial results look promising, long-term effects have not been fully investigated. It's important to note that, if restenosis recur there is no good method to simply remove the blockage, and follow-up treatments may require laser surgery or localized drug delivery using other angioplasty devices.
Wavelet Packet Based Features for Automatic Script Identification

Abstract: In a multi script environment, an archive of documents printed in different scriptsis in practice. For automatic processing of such documents through OpticalCharacter Recognition (OCR), it is necessary to identify the script type of thedocument. In this paper, a novel texture-based approach is presented to identifythe script type of the collection of documents printed in ten Indian scripts -Bangla, Devanagari, Roman (English), Gujarati, Malayalam, Oriya, Tamil,Telugu, Kannada and Urdu. The document images are decomposed through theWavelet Packet Decomposition using the Haar basis function up to level two.Gray level co-occurrence matrix is constructed for the coefficient sub bands ofthe wavelet transform. The Haralick texture features are extracted from the cooccurrencematrix and then used in the identification of the script of a machineprinted document. Experimentation conducted involved 3000 text images forlearning and 2500 text images for testing. Script classification performance isanalyzed using the K-nearest neighbor classifier. The average success rate isfound to be 98.24%.
Script Identification of Text Words from a Tri-Lingual Document Using Voting Technique

Abstract: In a multi script environment, majority of the documents may contain text information printed in more than one script/language forms. For automatic processing of such documents through Optical Character Recognition (OCR), it is necessary to identify different script regions of the document. In this context, this paper proposes to develop a model to identify and separate text words of Kannada, Hindi and English scripts from a printed tri-lingual document. The proposed method is trained to learn thoroughly the distinct features of each script. The binary tree classifier is used to classify the input text image. Experimentation conducted involved 1500 text words for learning and 1200 text words for testing. Extensive experimentation has been carried out on both manually created data set and scanned data set. The results are very encouraging and prove the efficacy of the proposed model. The average success rate is found to be 99% for manually created data set and 98.5% for data set constructed from scanned document images.
