Abstract: two pottery sets from san martín de los andes, neuquén, in argentina, which show evident prints of leaves in negative on their external surfaces are described in this paper/article. this feature/characteristic mentioned above allows us to analize similar findings obtained from wooded lacustrine environment located on the western slope of the cordillera de los andes. besides, we may also focus on territorial issues related to groups settled on both slopes of the mountain range who developed a pottery technology described as pitrén complex.

This paper describes an experimental approach developed in order to determine if the surface modifications known as negative-leaf imprints found on archaeological pottery from recently excavated sites at San Martin de los Andes, Argentina well-documented throughout South Central Chile were the result of an artistic choice or an inadvertent by-product of the firing process. Our results support the first hypothesis over the second. Thus we conclude that these negative-leaf imprints represents a stylistic tool developed by the Southern Andean pottery artists and the manufacturing technique as a type of "reserve".

Abstract: the purpose of this study was to identify if there were differences in perceived fear in 9 to 12 year old boys and girls that live in mexico city. qualitative information was obtained which was used to build a likert type scale responded by 300 children. a factor analysis determined the existence of four factors: fear of the unknown, fear of animals, fear at school, and fear of danger and death. statistical differences were found in all factors, girls obtaining higher mean values. the highest mean values were observed in fear of danger and death, both among boys and girls, possibly because of the insecurity situation that surrounds life in this country.

Suma Psicológica , 2012,
Abstract: the present study obtained data on the frequency of posttraumatic stress disorder (ptsd) symptoms from a national sample of mexican journalists. the main objective of this exploratory and transversal study was to assess ptsd symptoms, and identify differences by gender (male/female), assignment (journalists who cover drug trafficking news/other journalists), and professional activity (reporter/ photographer). the ptsd checklist-civilian version (pcl-c), and a questionnaire on sociodemographic data were used. the instruments were applied in a national context of war on drugs, in which acts of extreme violence like mass murders, beheadings and skinning are present. results indicate that 35% of the journalists had ptsd symptoms. however, rates of ptsd symptoms in reporters who cover drug war news were significantly higher than in journalists who cover other assignments (p=.03).

Revista Colombiana de Psicología , 2012,
Abstract: Based on the state-trait model of anger (Spielberger, 1988, 1999), the aim was to develop a reliable and valid inventory to measure anger in Mexican children. Exploratory factor analyses on responses from 592 children (302 boys, 290 girls) (M=10.35 years old, SD=1.14) revealed four factors suggesting construct validity: 6-item state anger (e.g., “I am upset”), 5-item trait-temperament (e.g., “I get mad easily”), 7-item angerout (e.g., “I fight with whoever made me mad”), and 12-item anger control (e.g., “I try to relax”). Alpha reliabilities were .76, .76, .73, and .88, respectively. Anger control correlated negatively with other factors, whereas other factors correlated positively with each other. The inventory also had concurrent validity with an instrument that measured physical aggression.

"52% of the electorate, 11% of parliament": cultural factors and feminine political representation in Uruguay
Pérez,Verónica;
Revista Uruguaya de Ciencia Política , 2006,
Abstract: on the assumption that culture matters, this paper explores the behavior of some cultural hypotheses, at the supply and demand levels, as explanations of women under-representation in public office, trying to point out the methodological precautions needed when gender analyses are carried out. the article lies on a theoretical perspective which claims the main causes of the low feminine presence in politics are related to structural factors for which there would be, however, political "solutions".
