Measures for classification and detection in steganalysis

Abstract: Still and multi-media images are subject to transformations for compression, steganographic embedding and digital watermarking. In a major program of activities we are engaged in the modeling, design and analysis of digital content. Statistical and pattern classification techniques should be combined with understanding of run length, transform coding techniques, and also encryption techniques.
Diversity in Ranking using Negative Reinforcement

Abstract: In this paper, we consider the problem of diversity in ranking of the nodes in a graph. The task is to pick the top-k nodes in the graph which are both 'central' and 'diverse'. Many graph-based models of NLP like text summarization, opinion summarization involve the concept of diversity in generating the summaries. We develop a novel method which works in an iterative fashion based on random walks to achieve diversity. Specifically, we use negative reinforcement as a main tool to introduce diversity in the Personalized PageRank framework. Experiments on two benchmark datasets show that our algorithm is competitive to the existing methods.
Improving the Reliability of Detection of LSB Replacement Steganography

Abstract: We propose a simple method for increasing the reliability of detection of LSB replacementsteganography. RS Steganalysis Method (RSM), Sample Pair Method (SPM), and Least Square Method(LSM) are three of the most reliable steganalysis methods in the literature for LSB replacementsteganography on digital images in spatial domain. However all these methods are prone to error. Wepropose a simple method to identify images which give very accurate results and images which givehighly inaccurate results by these methods. The novelty of our method is that it does not require anyknowledge about the cover images as the image classification is done based on certain statisticalproperties of the image, which are invariant with embedding. Thus it helps the steganalyst in attaching alevel of confidence to the estimation he makes and thereby increasing the reliability of steganalysis ofdigital images. It also helps to choose between images for more secure LSB replacement steganography.
A Navigation Algorithm Inspired by Human Navigation

Abstract: Human navigation has been a topic of interest in spatial cognition from the past few decades. It has been experimentally observed that humans accomplish the task of way-finding a destination in an unknown environment by recognizing landmarks. Investigations using network analytic techniques reveal that humans, when asked to way-find their destination, learn the top ranked nodes of a network. In this paper we report a study simulating the strategy used by humans to recognize the centers of a network. We show that the paths obtained from our simulation has the same properties as the paths obtained in human based experiment. The simulation thus performed leads to a novel way of path-finding in a network. We discuss the performance of our method and compare it with the existing techniques to find a path between a pair of nodes in a network.
An Analysis of the Factors Affecting Students’ Adjustment at a University in Zimbabwe

Abstract: This study provides insight into transition experiences and adjustment of students at a university in Zimbabwe. Research was based on students in the first three semesters of college. Based on prior research college adjustment was conceptualised in this study as involving personal, emotional, social and academic issues. The study was qualitative in nature and the descriptive research design using case study method was used. Structured and unstructured questionnaires were used to gather information. A sample of 115 students was selected using stratified random sampling from the faculty of social sciences. Findings from the study revealed that to a larger extent students were failing to adjust to college demands, this was compounded by the socioeconomic conditions prevailing in Zimbabwe.

Appliquées à l’espace littoral et employées en complément de l’entretien, elles se révèlent être non seulement un bon outil de recueil des représentations spatiales, mais aussi une aide précieuse pour leur analyse. Cet article s’appuie sur l’exemple de l’utilisation des cartes mentales dans le poster scientifique Des ingénieurs de plus en plus verts . évolution du regard des ingénieurs en charge de la gestion du littoral néerlandais, lauréat du concours organisé par le forum de l’école Doctorale de Géographie de Paris de 2011. After having been mainly used in urban geography, then cast aside by the geographers, mental maps are now the object of renewed interest, particularly in the field of environmental geography. Applied to the coast, and used as a supplement to the interview, these maps are not only of great assistance in collecting spatial representations, but also helpful in analyzing them. This article uses the example of the integration of mental maps in the scientific poster “Des ingénieurs de plus en plus “verts”. évolution du regard des ingénieurs en charge de la gestion du littoral néerlandais”(Engineers are ‘greener and greener’. Evolution of the thinking of engineers in charge of Dutch coastal management.), prize-winner of the competition organized by the Paris Doctoral School of Geography Forum in 2011.
