Forces in Struggle in the Country and the City Today in Brazil: Beyond a Dualistic Understanding  [PDF]
Célia Regina Vendramini
Current Urban Studies (CUS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/cus.2015.31006
Abstract: Is it still possible to distinguish the line that separates the country and the city? How do rural and urban workers produce their life today? What are the characteristics that distinguish or approximate them? What movements of resistance have been observed? These questions guide our reflections about the relationship between urban and rural space. Based on a study in the urban pe-riphery and in encampments and settlements of the Landless Rural Workers Movements in Brazil, we seek to understand alternative forms of occupation of space today.
Pesquisa e movimentos sociais
Vendramini, Célia Regina;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302007000400007
Abstract: the aim of this text is to provide a reflection on the character of the research developed on social movements. we took marx's and thompson's studies as reference, starting from the understanding of associations as sources of social relationship, and a research on the landless workers' rural movement (mst). our intention has been to approach some elements of methodological nature which we consider indispensable for the analysis of social movements and organizations, such as the dialectics of past, present and future, which tries to break with the immediatism of situations and theoretical analyses; the articulation between the widest and the most peculiar focuses of the social phenomenon; the perception of the contradictions and ambivalences of historical experiences; the objective and subjective conditions that determine actions taken by people in social movements; and the reading and interpretation of sources.
Educa??o e trabalho: reflex?es em torno dos movimentos sociais do campo
Vendramini, Célia Regina;
Cadernos CEDES , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-32622007000200002
Abstract: this paper presents the results of investigations that have examined the social and educational actions taken by the landless worker?s movement (mst), in particular those regarding work, cooperation and education. such relationships are basic to assess the current sense and the possibilities of an education aimed at rural populations. the text brings forth some analyses on the current rural work as the expression of social inequalities and class distinction that are manifest in the various kinds of productions, activities, and individuals who live, work or invest in rural areas. it also explores the current rural education, its advantages compared with the previous model, its presence in educational policies and its extension beyond school itself. finally it examines the importance education acquires due to rural social movements that begin to support education associated with the development of material conditions for rural life. it particularly focuses on the education that is being promoted within the landless worker?s movement.
A experiência coletiva como fonte de aprendizagens nas lutas do movimento sem terra no Brasil
Vendramini,Célia Regina;
Revista Lusófona de Educa??o , 2005,
Abstract: the paper puts forward a reflection on the learning built and/or acquired by the landless rural workers due to their exprience with the no-land movement [movimento dos sem terra - mst] in brazil. the first part identifies the social origins of the landless people who make up mst in santa catarina, an are in the south of the country; the second part reflects on some of the learning based on the movement?s main experiences of struggle, ranging from occupation of land and bivouacking to the settlements; the third, and last, part analyses this learning based on the category of experience, supported by e.p. thompson. the experiences undergone by the landless people give rise to a bulk of learning of great personal, social and political meaning, from the crash between a history of a life away from social and political involvement and the joining of a movement which thrives on mass organisation and the capacity of self-regulation in the bivouacs and settlements.

Abstract: analysis of the commedia dell'arte from a historico-critical perspective which emphasizes the various forms of its appropriation in the 20th century. the themes of transformation of the open air theater into indoor theater and the extension of the model of the commedia dell'arte to other art forms of the 20th century, such as the silent movies, the circus and the carnival will be brought to light from elements of the commedia dell'arte.

Divergent Biochemical Fractionation, Not Convergent Temperature, Explains Cellulose Oxygen Isotope Enrichment across Latitudes
Leonel Sternberg, Patricia Fernandes Vendramini Ellsworth
PLOS ONE , 2011, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0028040
Abstract: Recent findings based on the oxygen isotope ratios of tree trunk cellulose indicate that the temperature of biomass production in biomes ranging from boreal to subtropical forests converge to an average leaf temperature of 21.4°C. The above conclusion has been drawn under the assumption that biochemically related isotopic fractionations during cellulose synthesis are not affected by temperature. Here we test the above assumption by heterotrophically generating cellulose at different temperatures and measuring the proportion of carbohydrate oxygen that exchange with water during cellulose synthesis and the average biochemical fractionation associated with this exchange. We observed no variation in the proportion of oxygen that exchange with different temperatures, which averaged 0.42 as it has been observed in other studies. On the other hand, the biochemical oxygen isotope fractionation during cellulose synthesis is affected by temperature and can be described by a 2nd order polynomial equation. The biochemical fractionation changes little between temperatures of 20 and 30°C averaging 26‰ but increases at lower temperatures to values of 31‰. This temperature sensitive biochemical fractionation explains the pattern of cellulose oxygen isotope ratios of aquatic plants encompassing several latitudes. The observed temperature sensitive biochemical fractionation also indicates that divergent biochemical fractionation and not convergent leaf temperature explains the increase in oxygen isotope enrichment of cellulose across several biomes.
Consideraciones sobre el autor del De Rebus Bellicis y su valoración en la historiografía contemporánea
Sánchez Vendramini,Darío N;
Temas medievales , 2009,
Abstract: the de rebus bellicis is a small text of petition addressed by an unknown author to a late antique emperor. it contains a list of proposals for economic, political and military reforms with the purpose of improving the roman empire's de fensive capacity in front of the barbarian invaders. contemporary historiography has valued these reform projects variously and in some cases even expressed opposing views. equally different are the interpretations made of the author on ground of the text. the present article, after briefly reviewing the text and structure of the treatise, compares it with other written material of its time with the purpose of placing it in context. this analysis proves the de rebus bellicis to be a typical product of its own time. finally, a new interpretation of two doubtful fragments shows that modern evaluations of the text and its author have not always been solidly founded.
Lacera??o canalicular: uma técnica simplificada de sutura
Rossi, Juliana Vendramini;Costa, Marilisa Nano;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27492003000300017
Abstract: the authors describe the use of a teflon catheter as an intracanalicular stent in order to increase its accessability to ophthalmologists.the technique is based on the identification of the canalicular borders followed by the introduction of a teflon catheter (22 or 24) into the canalicular lumen. three full-thickness sutures are placed at the canaliculum using a 8-0 mononylon or a 8-0 vicryl. this technique can be used in cases of non-complicated lacerations, in which catheterization is still possible.
