Psicologia: Reflex?o e Crítica , 2005,
Abstract: This research aimed to compare the social representations of adolescents who study during the day and of those who study in the evening concerning three related objects: the work itself, the association between working and studying, and the adolescent who works. The subjects were 724 male and female high school students from 14 to 18 years old, divided into a worker and a non-worker groups. Data were collected using the free evocation method with inductor terms, and the software Evoc helped in the formulation of hypotheses about the centrality of the main contents of each representation. The most important results were: the anchoring by workers of the term "work" in elements of their everyday life; the predominance among workers of negative central elements as to the association between studying and working; the positive image for both groups regarding the adolescent who works.

Abstract: O estudo analisa conseqüências do trabalho para as condi es de vida, saúde e desenvolvimento psicossocial de adolescentes.

Abstract: the present research investigated the social representations of aging as considered by three different groups of subjects. thirty seven individuals (older than 52) were interviewed, about the issue of getting old. they belonged to three distinct groups, namely: retired faculty from the federal university of santa catarina, participants of na academic program designed for the elderly, and residents of a nursing home for the elderly. the interviews were of the semidirective type and were tape recorded and literally transcribed. the interviews were analyzed using a software for quantitative analysis of textual data (alceste). the results pointed to three types of social representations of aging. the first is a domestic representation produced mainly by females, and the central idea is the loss of family bonds. the second is a typically masculine representation, based on the notion of activity, characterizing aging as a loss of working ability. the third representation can be seen as utilitarian, as it regards aging as an impairment of the human machinery. the different social representations of aging were more linked to sex than to the three group categories.

Abstract: the aim of the study was to verify the effectiveness of computer based intervention with the phonological awareness literacy software for students with intellectual disabilities. the software enables participation in activities that stimulate the development of phonological awareness and grapheme to phoneme conversion. twenty-two children and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 17 years participated in the study. initial evaluation of cognitive development level was performed using the columbia mental maturity scale and the wechsler intelligence scale for children. all the participants were randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control. the groups were matched for sex, age, and cognitive development level. the reading and writing tests battery and the verbal phonological awareness test were used for assessment at the beginning and end of the intervention program. sixteen individual sessions were run with the experimental group participants using the computerized phonological reading software. the results indicated improvements in writing, reading and phonological awareness skills only for the experimental group. comparison with normative data showed that before the intervention the experimental group's performance was on the level of pre-school children, but after the intervention, they tested at the 2nd grade level.
