Abstract: considering the challenges proposed for teachers, and the peculiarities of modern and industrial society, this article approaches the theme of environmental education in brazil. discussions about the environment problem seldom reach the teaching level, on the basic and intermediary levels, maintaining the gap between the university and the basic formation school, between the academic debate about the environment problematic and environmental education. the theme environment conservation is not only a didactical-pedagogical challenge, as it has been treated by many educators, but is related to a much more complex problem. this study has as objective to discuss the need to expand the discussion in such a way that it would allow the treatment of fundamental themes, generally discussed in politics, economy, sociology, as an awareness and comprehension of environment problematic strategy. the research was done from the analysis of environment problematic conditionings, and the study of the process of incorporation of the environment theme in courses of the social sciences group. as a result, the environment crisis is understood more as a symptom of the modernity crisis, which is manifested not only through the environment disadjustment, but also by the worsening of social, political and economical problems.

Abstract: Human beings have never removed so much of the environment as in recent years. Guided byvalues based on consumerism, they have entered in the dynamics of nature. Removing from it at anycost, its resources: minerals, flora, fauna, besides water, soil and which become more and more aplace of discharge of various pollutants. As a result of this society of consumerism, waste appearsas na ally, producing thousands of tons of garbage daily by human beings. Recently, the politics ofthe administration of urban solid residues in Brazil created by the Federal Government, whichincludes the support of organizations of collectors of recycled waste, has encouraged the implanta-tion of the selective collection of garbage and the passing on of funds for the implantation of sanitary landfills in municipal districts. In Araguari (MG) this process began in 2001. This was themoment in which we participated more directly in the implantation of the selective collection. A lotof experience was accumulated during this participation, especially the implantation of the selec-tive colletion in schools of the municipal district. In this article, we will make reference to theseexperiences, contemplating the misunderstandings and the progress conquered. With this, webelieved to be contributing with those who want, in the school context, to begin or to reformulateways in the universe of the separation of materials be sent to recycling industries.

Abstract: Education is considered a basic element for hte construction of a fairer and equalitarian society. In recent years, a relatively large return of yauths and adult people to schools in Brazil is being observed. In this work we had the objective to know the deveopment of the teaching/learning process of Geography, in classes of Education of younths and Adult People, of a non-regular teaching - the teaching to students who dropped school and returned to it some years later - of the elementary scholl. For that, a bibliographical research on the subject was done, which was related to the teaching for younths and adult people; later, a specific research was done, regarding the teaching of Geography above mentionde. Weekly observations in a 5th grade class, 'ensino compacto' - the students are allowed to return to scholl to conclute their studies in a shorter period of time - of the evening period int the Escola Municipal profa. Cecy Cardoso, in Uberlandia - MG, 2003. It was verified, among other results: 1) Absence of relationship between the Geography content taught in the school and the students' daily practice. In other words non-consideration of the student′s previous knowledge; 2)Shortage of appropriate didactic material to the public′s age, being evidenced the use of children didactic material which was tedious and not very attractive. Conclusions point out that the public request defferentiated and appropriate educational mehods, emphasizing the student′s previous and real knowledge, accomplishing connections among the Geography content taught in the school and the kowledge acquired by their life experiences.

Abstract: More than a confinde science, Ecology shows us today how to see life and act in ti. In recent years, Deep Ecology a proposal by Arne Naess in 1973, has brought up questions that make us review our concepts and attitudes by proposing that each individual opens themselves to a personal revolution, changing their deportmente in light of the world. After advancing for o long period of time without objetcitves and clear methodologies, formal Environmental Education is beginning to be seen and lived as na important dimentsion in the educational process. This process, individual criticisms and is capable of constructing alternative ways to minimize social environmental problems. For this to happen, a scholl in its totality, must turn to na integrated work which the complexity of relations is developed to be a reference to the definition of its pedagogical proposal.

Abstract: Tendo em vista os desafios propostos aos professores, e considerando as peculiaridades da sociedade moderna e industrial, o presente artigo aborda a temática da educa o ambiental no Brasil. As discuss es sobre a problemática ambiental raramente conseguem alcan ar o plano do ensino escolar, em nível fundamental e médio, fazendo persistir a distancia entre universidade e escola de forma o básica, entre debate acadêmico acerca da problemática ambiental e educa o ambiental. O tema da conserva o ambiental n o é apenas um desafio didático-pedagógico, como vem sendo tratado por muitos educadores, mas diz respeito a uma problemática muito mais complexa. O trabalho tem como objetivo discutir a necessidade de ampliar da discuss o, de maneira que possibilite o tratamento de temas fundamentais, geralmente discutidos no campo da política, da economia, e da sociologia, como estratégia de sensibiliza o e compreens o da problemática ambiental. A pesquisa foi conduzida a partir da análise dos condicionantes da problemática ambiental, e do estudo do processo de incorpora o da temática ambiental nas disciplinas do grupo das ciências sociais. Como resultado, a crise ambiental é entendida como mais um sintoma da crise da modernidade, que se manifesta n o apenas por intermédio do desajuste ambiental, mas também por meio do agravamento dos problemas sociais, políticos e econ micos.

Abstract: Ce texte procède d’un certain nombre de réflexions permettant de poser la problématique des représentations des paysages brésiliens dans les manuels scolaires fran ais, principalement ceux de ces paysages qui intègrent l’iconographie des livres de Géographie. Il s’agit d’une recherche encore en cours, mais dont il est déjà possible d’extraire des éléments permettant de décoder a posteriori les significations attribuées aux paysages du Brésil, en France. Este texto avan a uma série de idéias para levantar a quest o das representa es de paisagens brasileiras em livros escolares franceses, especialmente os das paisagens que incorporam a iconografia dos livros de Geografia. Esta é uma pesquisa ainda em andamento, mas já é possível extrair elementos para decodificar os significados atribuídos a posteriori às paisagens do Brasil na Fran a. This text proposes a number of ideas to raise the issue of the representations of Brazilian landscapes in French textbooks,especially the used in the iconography of geography textbooks. This is a research still in progress, but it is already possible to extract elements for decoding the meanings attributed retrospectively to Brazil's landscapes in France.

Abstract: Having the geographic space valued as a way of social understanding, conceptions about society relationships and nature concern to the Geography. As we consider the geographicity, conceptions on human interactions with space can be rescued from their significance means, being instituted in a historical and critical vision of the geographic space representations. The proposal of this work is to mediate a reflection between geographic spaceand language, focusing the desertification in the work ‘Os Sert es’1, by Euclides da Cunha,where in the first part, A Terra2, the writer presents some approaches directly concerned to the Geography, among which the desertification in the backlands of Brazil.For a theoretical-methodological contribution, our studies are based on the Discourse Analysis of French current to orientate the reflection on the corpus for analysis, (the text ‘Como se faz um deserto’3, from now on T1, the text ‘Como se extingue um deserto’4, T2, and finally, the text ‘O martírio secular da terra’5, T3), starting from the identified object (the fragment ‘A terra’, of Os Sert es), and also to restore the ideological formation of the conscious subjects during the passage from the 19th to the 20th century, what constitutes a certain thought on the Brazilian reality and on the movement of accusation that emerges from that process.
Th-U-PbT Dating by Electron Probe Microanalysis, Part I. Monazite: Analytical Procedures and Data Treatment

Abstract: Dating methodology by the electron probe microanalyser (EPMA) of (Th, U)-bearing minerals, highlighting monazite,acquired greater than ever importance in literature, particularly due to its superior spatial resolution, as well as versatility,which allow correlating petrological processes at times registered only in micro-scales in minerals and rocks with absoluteages. Although the accuracy is inferior to the one achieved with conventional isotopic methods in up to an order of magnitude,EPMA is the instrument that allows the best spatial resolution, reaching a few μm3 in some conditions. Quantifi cation ofminor and trace elements with suitable precision and accuracy involves the own instrumental and analytical set-ups anddata treatment strategies, signifi cantly more rigorous when compared with those applied in conventional analyses. Th-U-PbTdating is an example of these cases. Each EPMA is a unique machine as for its instrumental characteristics and respectiveautomation system. In such a way, analytical procedures ought to be adjusted for laboratory specifi cities. The analyticalstrategies and data treatment adopted in the Electronic Microprobe Laboratory from Instituto de Geociências of Universidadede S o Paulo, Brazil, with a JEOL JXA8600S EPMA, and a ThermoNoran-Voyager 4.3 automation system, are presentedand compared with the ones used in other laboratories. The infl uence of instrumental factors and spectral overlaps on Th,U, and Pb quantifi cation is discussed. Applied procedures to interference correction, error propagation, data treatment, andfi nal chemical age presentation as well as to sampling and analyses are emphasized. Some typical applications are discussed,drawing attention to the most relevant aspects of electron microprobe dating.
