Dutra de Azeredo,Vania;
Utopìa y Praxis Latinoamericana , 2009,
Abstract: this paper presents the nietzschean explanation about the origin of attic tragedy based on the heraclitean notion of contraries. opposition between the apollonian and dionysian artistic impulses is related directly to fragments from the philosopher of ephesus, who searches for harmony in the conciliation of opposites; additionally, the aesthetic-metaphysical pleasure of the tragic myth finds elucidation in the creation and destruction pointed out by heraclitus. this paper considers that the basis for greek tragedy in nietzsche?s thought descends from greek, not german thought.

Abstract: This paper aims at analyzing the design of observation through the notions of interpretation and perspectivism in Nietzsche, trying to show the impossibility of a neutral position referring to the design that could capture its shades in an impartial way. We propose the concept of expressive objectivity as the necessary limit to human production and reading, mainly in the design of observation, making use of the Nietzschean conceptual apparatus.

This article offers an analysis of the distinction between two types of argumentation, namely the logic-semantic and the so-called pragmatic- linguistic approach. The last one presents, for the justification of moral norms, an ethics of discourse. Dealing with another aspect as well, it attempts to show that Habermas’s scheme, initially devoted to moral thought, may be applied to politics, whenever political propositions are treated analogously to moral ones. In that case, concepts of Habermas’s theory are used merely as operators.

Abstract Considering that the evaluation of values is fundamental to educational conception and contents, we want to think about education with the help of Nietzsche’s philosophy of values. We start with a discussion with Thomas E. Hart, author of Nietzsche, culture and education, aiming at showing some approaches and distances. We also try to investigate the relations between education and the philosophy of values from the point of view of their perspectives and consequences.

Clinics , 2012, DOI: 10.6061/clinics/2012(06)04
Abstract: objectives: this study evaluated the effect of continuous positive airway pressure treatment on oxidative stress parameters and the quality of life of elderly patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. methods: in total, 30 obstructive sleep apnea syndrome patients and 27 subjects without obstructive sleep apnea syndrome were included in this study. both groups underwent quality of life and oxidative stress evaluations at baseline and after six months. polysomnography was performed in both groups at baseline and a second time in the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome group after six months of continuous positive airway pressure treatment. all of the variables were compared between the control and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome groups in this prospective case-control study. results: the baseline concentrations of the antioxidant enzyme catalase were higher in the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome group than the control group. after continuous positive airway pressure treatment, the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome group exhibited a reduction in the level of oxidative stress, as indicated by a decrease in the level of lipid peroxidation measured by the malondialdehyde (mda) concentration [pre: 2.7 nmol malondialdehyde/ml (95% 1.6-3.7) vs. post: 1.3 nmol mda/ml (0.7-1.9), p<0.01]. additionally, improvements were observed in two domains covered by the sf-36 questionnaire: functional capacity [pre: 77.4 (69.2-85.5) vs. post: 83.4 (76.9-89.9), p = 0.002] and pain [pre: 65.4 (52.8-78.1) vs. post: 77.8 (67.2-88.3), p = 0.004]. conclusion: our study demonstrated that the use of continuous positive airway pressure to treat obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in elderly patients reduced oxidative stress and improved the quality of life.

Palavras-chave: Brucella abortus, Circovírus suíno tipo 2, Salmonella spp., Streptococcus suis, taiassuídeos The tayassuideos are wild animals in the same taxonomic order of pigs (Artiodactyla) and, although belonging to different families, have more in common diseases, which are characterized by the same clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment. From the three species, two occur naturally in Brazil: Tayassu tajacu and Tayassu peccary, also known as collered peccary and white lipped peccary, respectively. The importance of the study of microorganisms found in these populations is because these animals can act as reservoirs of diseases to domestic animal, potential zoonotic risk and a problem to specie conservation. In this study, it was examined the occurrence of pathogenic microorganisms for pigs in tayassuideos from captivity and living free. The presence of Salmonella spp., Streptococcus suis, Brucella abortus and Porcine circ

Abstract: brazilian spotted fever is the most common rickettsiosis in brazil, most prevalent in the states of s?o paulo and minas gerais. the aim of this study was to describe the epidemiological characteristics of brazilian spotted fever in minas gerais from 2000 to 2008. of the 132 cases of brazilian spotted fever, 53 patients died, representing a case-fatality rate of 40.2%. males predominated, with 78.8% of confirmed cases, and median age was 26.5 years. absence of rash was associated with increased risk of death (p = 0.005). greater metropolitan belo horizonte, rio doce valley, and zona da mata accounted for 70.6% of the cases, which occurred mainly from may to november. there was an increase in the number of cases, which could suggest an expansion of the disease, but probably resulted from an increase in the health system's diagnostic capacity and sensitivity. despite this improvement, the case-fatality rate remains high and with no apparent tendency to decrease, thus indicating the need for improved prevention and patient care.

Abstract: background and objectives: phase angle (pa) is the difference between voltage and current and can be used as an indicator of body cell mass. clinical studies show that low phase angle is associated with morbidity and mortality of critical patients. the purpose of this study was to know the relation between phase angle and the pediatric risk of mortality i (prism i) score, associating this score with the severity of sepsis. methods: a transversal study was performed at the pediatric intensive care unit (picu) in instituto fernandes figueira. the patients were classified according to age, gender, sepsis severity, cause of respiratory failure, prism i score, multiple organ dysfunction syndromes (mods). electrical bioimpedance analysis (bia) was performed in all patients. phase angle was calculated directly from reactance (xc) and resistance (r). af = arc-tangent reactance/resistance x 180o/pi. results: 75 patients (68 septic) were evaluated. the incidence of septic shock was 39.7%, severe sepsis 42.6% and sepsis 17.6%. there was no significative statistical difference between the mean values of bia and the categories of prism i, mods, or the length of stay the picu. the pa's lowest values (1.5o-2.2o) were associated to the greatest prism's scores (> 30%). conclusions: pediatric critical patients show low phase angle values, which might have prognostic implication.
