O VERBO DIVINO DE ADéLIA PRADO: POESIA
Vania Cristina Alexandrino Bernardo
Mangue’s historical memoirs of the saga of the islanders on the Paraiba do Sul River Delta As trilhas memorialísticas do Mangue na saga dos ilhéus da foz do Paraíba do Sul
Carla Simone Ferreira Machado Lombardi,Vania Cristina Alexandrino Bernardo
Vértices , 2010,
Abstract: Reading about daily life through a novel′s narrative, which from the author’s point of view of the real world is articulated as fiction and recreated in the author-reader relationship acquires meanings in this study about Mangue, a regional novel by Osorio Peixoto. Involving themes such as historical memory, culture and literature, this article prioritizes an analysis that emphasizes the character and lifestyle of islanders on Pessanha`s island, a scenery in which the characters circulate and weave life stories, marked by poverty, oppression, disregard of the authorities, inhumanities and lack of citizenship. Based on the review of the literature, the study presents a critical and reflexive analysis of the saga of riverside communities described in the book, a text, which links poetry and fiction.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to identify the time of anesthetic induction and recovery of silver catfish (rhamdia quelen) exposed to eugenol. it was also determined the efficacy of the anesthetic as a stress reducing agent and performed a sensory analysis of the fillets from fish exposed to this substance. the silver catfish were exposed to air for 1min to carry out biometry, and blood was collected at 0, 1 and 4 hours later. eugenol can be used in the range of 20-50mg l-1 for anesthetic induction in silver catfish, and recovery time from anesthesia was not affected by eugenol concentration. the control group showed significantly higher cortisol levels 4 hours after biometry than at time zero. fish anesthetized with eugenol (50mg l-1) presented significantly lower plasma cortisol levels than control fish at the same time. these data indicate that eugenol inhibits the rise of cortisol in the blood. the sensory analysis test demonstrated that eugenol modifies the flavor of the fillet and therefore is contra-indicated for anesthetization of silver catfish that are intended for human consumption.
Amino acids and carbohydrates absorption by Na+-dependent transporters in the pyloric ceca of Hoplias malabaricus (Erythrinidae)
Vieira, Vania Lucia Pimentel;Baldisserotto, Bernardo;
Ciência Rural , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-84782001000500009
Abstract: information about amino acids and carbohydrate absorption in fish is important to formulate an adequate diet to obtain optimal growth. therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate if na+-dependent transporters are involved on the absorption of glycine, l-glutamine, l-leucine, l-lysine, l-proline, l-alanine, and the carbohydrates fructose and glucose in the pyloric ceca of hoplias malabaricus. the pyloric ceca were mounted in a system of continuous perfusion "in vitro". amino acids and carbohydrates were placed on the mucosal side at concentrations of 10, 20, and 40mm. the serosal side of the pyloric ceca was positive in relation to the mucosal side. the addition of glycine, l-glutamine, l-leucine, l-lysine, l-proline (all tested concentrations), and glucose (at concentrations of 20 and 40mm) increased the positivity of the serosal side, indicating the presence of na+-dependent transporters in the absorption of these substances. l-alanine and fructose did not change the positivity of the serosal side. the pyloric ceca seem to be the main site of nutrient absorption in the digestive tract of h. malabaricus.

Regina M. S. Pereira, Bego?a Giménez-Cassina López, Susana N. Diniz, Alyne Alexandrino Antunes, Daniel Moreno Garcia, Carlos Rocha Oliveira, Maria Cristina Marcucci
Agricultural Sciences (AS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/as.2017.87048
Abstract:
The flavonoid content in orange peels of different Brazilian citrus varieties such as bahia, lima, lima-of-persian, morcote, pera, ponkan, seleta, cravo, kinkan and pomelo was assessed. Industry processing juice wastes such as bagasse, bagasse residues, animal feeding bagasse, pulp WEUE and CORE-wash were also analyzed. The HPLC analysis indicates that the most abundant flavonoids found in these Brazilian citrus peels are hesperidin and naringin. The solvents used are selective for flavonoid extraction, and depending on their polarity, glycoside or aglycone flavonoids are extracted. The use of multivariate analysis shows that DMSO is the best solvent to extract glycosides flavanones while hexane displays high selectivity in the extraction of polymethoxylated flavones. The flavonoids present in the orange wastes, obtained at different stages of the industrial processing, are qualitative and quantitatively different. The identification and quantification of the flavonoid composition in each Brazilian citrus variety were evaluated and allowed the selection of the best solvent for the extraction of each specific class of flavonoids. These compounds were found to be more abundant in the fruit peels than in their juices, revealing their great industrial potential. The residual portion of the processing juices is also rich in flavonoids, depending on the processing step.
