Abstract: Private social investment usually occurs by means of Corporate Foundations. This article analyzeshow foundations discursively build their relationship with the company and the society based onsocial responsibility. The discourse analysis method is used here to identify and understand howthe company and the society are present in the discourse of six foundations on the Web. Thestudies which praise a “new” philanthropy, as wellas the criticism of these studies are reference forthis research. The analysis reveals that CorporateFoundations are not only the protagonists in thecreation of social value, but they are also playinga strategic role in the company. This happens,first, when these foundations dialogue with stakeholders, becoming a point of reference for theunderstanding of the necessities, interests and expectations of the society. Second, because theyare an amplified space for management, as the company is significantly present in the discourse offoundations.

Abstract: the objective of this paper is to analyze how brazilian companies make intentional use of language in their websites to influence the target public's perceptions, beliefs, feelings and actions, and how this discourse absorbs elements of social context. the self-descriptive statement analysis of the forty companies is conducted from a historical and critical perspective which considers discourse as a social practice. rhetorical analysis and critical discourse analysis presumptions - being the internet a means of research - were used for gathering and analyzing the data. results indicate how culture and power are present in the language of web companies. they also reveal that the virtual space is a new place for the construction of meaning, a place in which companies enlarge their symbolic borders and rhetorically build their legitimacy.

Abstract: This research aims to reveal how the procedures established by the Anvisa resolution RDC-216/04 influence the organizational culture of self-services restaurants in Uberlandia, under their managers perspective. The research is qualitative and descriptive. The method applied was the comparative case study. The techniques used for data collecting were organizational document analysis, observation and semi-structured interviews. For the results analysis it was applied the techniques of content analysis and speech analysis under the triangulation perspective. The research findings showed homogeneities and heterogeneities in the interpretation of the managers on how that legislation brought influences to their organizational culture. Managers belonging to the same establishment diverged in their considerations about the relevance of certain procedures established by the resolution in the routine of their activities, although at the same time there were favorable and consistent interpretations among the interviewees, independent of belonging or not to the same organization.

Abstract: in this paper, we approach the gender issue from a postcolonial feminist perspective. our aim is to analyze gender setups in a launderette located in the countryside of minas gerais, where only women work under the leadership of a poor black woman. we relied on the postcolonial thought, specifically on reflections about the inferiority of women in mohanty (1984), spivak (1988), and suleri (1992). the efforts of these authors to understand the gender dynamics brings up issues which are rarely observed by traditional theories, especially those with a dual nature addressing gender as a simple relationship between the sexes. in turn, the postcolonial thought leans on the concept of subordination, no-place, and other ones to reflect upon the postcolonial subjects who speak through representatives whose legitimacy is related to the place, instead of their speech itself. as a method, we use the shadowing technique to observe the daily work of the launderette's manager and to identify the gender dynamics emerging from her everyday interactions. as a result, we present the configurations of gender relations, which consist of our interpretations, which are, thus, subjective ones, of the discursive practices that emerged during the daily work of cida, the manager who was shadowed in the launderette.

Abstract: This article focuses on the alliance between a third sector organization and the government, andthe articulations of the former as strategy in quest of sustainability. The objective was toinvestigate the feasibility of an alliance betweenan NGO and the City Hall, and how this alliance isset within a strategic process. The categories of analysis that led to the empirical study wereguided by the following dimensions: the forms, thenature of relationships and the types of linksamong those involved. The predominant approach wasof descriptive qualitative character. For data collection, the techniques of semi-structured interviews and analysis of documents were adopted.The analysis and interpretation were obtained by means of data triangulation. The results showedthat the NGO under study was able to become closer to the government, by attending part of thegovernment s demand, by offering quality care at reduced cost. Thus, the bind which should bebased on cooperation is also one of assistance. Butthere was also an opportunity for the NGO toexpand its area of operations, and learn about theinner workings of governments, decision-makingmechanisms and implementation of policies, thus enabling a better dialogue.

Abstract: the analysis of characteristics assigned to certain subjects and how these characteristics are socially constructed has become common in organizational studies. the privileges available in only a part of dual relationships, such as women and men (fletcher, 1998), appear in the discourses and organizational practices as neutral and natural, although they demarcate and define the nature of work and their relations. in this paper we examine how the attributes of masculinity and femininity influence the meaning of being a man or woman, in an organization of the third sector. the organization under study, as a pattern of meanings, values and behavior, is examined from three perspectives (martin, 2001), to understand things that are shared, faced or ambiguous, concerning the role of masculinity and femininity. this is a qualitative study, the design of which is the research narrative. data collection was performed by means of documents and semi-structured interviews with members of ameas. the results show inconsistencies, ambiguities and contradictions between the narratives found in the founding documents and the narratives of the subjects of the research in organizational practice.

Abstract: Society nowadays has become more vulnerable to the rule and operation of organizations which, on the other hand, may collapse if they do not earn society’s trust in their organizational behaviour. Furthermore, in a context which is characterized by uncertainty, risk, and intense competition,organizations need more cooperation from their employees than ever. This article analyses how institutional videos contribute to the process of creation, maintenance and increase of trust-based relationships between organizations and employees. The aim of this study is to identify, using the rhetorical analysis, how three companies use institutional videos to mobilize their employees’ trust. The rhetorical analysis of the researched videos examines the four main tasks of a speaker: invention, arrangement, style, and action. The conclusions point out that companies use several rational, affective and emotional arguments in articulate ways in order to reach an immediate goal as well as a long-term one, respectively, to assure labour which satisfies the needs of the company and to develop employees’ trust.

Abstract: objective: to evaluate patients affected by osteochondral fractures of the talus who were treated surgically by means of arthroscopy-assisted microperforation. methods: a retrospective study was carried out on 24 patients with osteochondral lesions of the talus who underwent microperforation assisted by videoarthroscopy of the ankle. they were evaluated using the american orthopaedic foot and ankle society (aofas) score system before and after the operation. results: there were 19 men and 5 women, with a mean age of 35.3 years (minimum of 17 years and maximum of 54 years). the minimum follow-up was two years (maximum of 39 months). all the patients showed an improvement in aofas score after surgery, with an average improvement of around 22.5 points. conclusion: videoarthroscopy-assisted microperforation is a good option for treating osteochondral lesions of the talus and provides good functional results.
