Bulletin de l'Institut Francais d'études Andines , 2000,
Abstract: LES ENTREP TS INKA à TINYAQ, AYACUCHO, PéROU. SYSTEMS OF INKA STORAGE AT TINYAQ, AYACUCHO, PERU. The Inka occupation of the Ayacucho Valley is a subject that has received little attention by archaeologists. Although it is evident that this valley was incorporated by the Inka, little is known regarding the role of the valley within the empire. Various studies carried out in the valley have resulted only in the location of very few Inka settlements. This information has been used by some to argue that the Ayacucho Valley played no role in the political scheme of the empire. The recent location of the Inka storehouses at Tinyaq, however, suggests that this valley was not abandoned as many have claimed. In this essay, it is our aim to evaluate the significance of the Inka structures of Tinyaq. On the basis of this data, we argue that this valley was part of the productive system of Tawantinsuyo.

Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: We prove that the natural invariant surface associated with the billiard game on an irrational polygonal table is homeomorphic to the Loch Ness monster, that is, the only orientable infinite genus topological real surface with exactly one end.
Veech groups, irrational billiards and stable abelian differentials

Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: We describe Veech groups of flat surfaces arising from irrational angled polygonal billiards or irreducible stable abelian differentials. For irrational polygonal billiards, we prove that these groups are non-discrete subgroups of SO(2,R) and we calculate their rank.
Correlation between Hardness, Structure and Electrochemical Performance of an AlZnMnMg Alloy  [PDF]
S. Valdez, B. Campillo, J. J. Islas
Engineering (ENG) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2012.49075
Abstract: In this work the structural changes induced by aged treatment have shown a connection with differences of hardness and electrochemical performance. Al-base alloys have been investigated by means of Vickers hardness, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron and short-term electrochemical test. X-ray diffraction result reveals the formation of (MgZn)49Al32 phase for two conditions, the first one is when the magnesium content is upper to 5.49% in as-cast condition and the second one after the thermal treatment carried out at 450?C for 5 h. In addition, the hardness and electrochemical performance has been influenced by the presence and quantity of the (MgZn)49Al32 phase. The addition of magnesium alloying modifies the microstructure, increases the content of (MgZn)49Al32 phase and provides a localized corrosion which conduced to the breakdown of the oxide film (?-Al2O3) formed on the Al alloy surface.
Algorithms for Computing Some Invariants for Discrete Knots  [PDF]
Gabriela Hinojosa, David Torres, Rogelio Valdez
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/am.2013.411206
Abstract: Given a cubic knot K, there exists a projection \"\" of the Euclidean space R3 onto a suitable plane \"\" such that p(K) is a knot diagram and it can be described in a discrete way as a cycle permutation. Using this fact, we develop an algorithm for computing some invariants for K: its fundamental group, the genus of its Seifert surface and its Jones polynomial.

Bulletin de l'Institut Francais d'études Andines , 2001,
Abstract: POSOQOYPATA, UN CIMETIèRE WARI DE LA VALLEE D AYACUCHO, PEROU. POSOQOYPATA, A WARI CEMETERY IN THE AYACUCHO VALLEY, PERU. Recently we carried out an archaeological salvage excavation at a Wari cemetery in the Ayacucho Valley of central Peru. This intervention resulted in the discovery of two totally new mortuary structure forms for the region and the Wari culture in particular. The first form is a rectangular mortuary chamber, with a small east-facing entrance, where the remains of several individuals were found. The second form is a cylindrical cist built to contain the remains of one individual. In this e
Valdez,Raúl;
Estudios y perspectivas en turismo , 2010,
Abstract: many historical sites, heritage buildings and geographical regions around the world are linked to popular legends related to ghosts and other supernatural phenomena. different studies demonstrate that these phenomena have been utilized as additional features to increate the attraction of these sites for tourist. in spite of using ghosts and specters o other supernatural phenomena however, to add interest for historical or heritage sites, this practice has not been widely studied from the perspective of tourist satisfaction. after an exploratory study realized with the help of historians, city chroniclers, tourist guides and employees working in the historical district of the city of puebla, mexico, fifteen civil and religious heritage buildings linked to legends of ghosts and supernatural phenomena were identified. this study supports the creation and promotion of three tourist routes containing the most famous historical buildings linked to legends of ghosts and supernatural phenomena in order to increase their interest for tourists. finally, this paper proposes the need to undertake more formal research focused on assessing the level of tourist gratification resulting from visits to heritage buildings and sites linked to supernatural phenomena.
Parálisis cerebral
Malagon Valdez,Jorge;
Medicina (Buenos Aires) , 2007,
Abstract: the term cerebral palsy (cp), is used for a great number of clinical neurological syndromes. the syndromes are characterized by having a common cause, motor defects. it is important, because they can cause a brain damage by presenting motor defects and some associated deficiencies, such as mental deficiency, epilepsy, language and visual defects and pseudobulbar paralysis, with the nonevolving fact. some authors prefer using terms such as "non-evolving encephalopathies". in the treatment the utility of prevention programs of early stimulation and special rehabilitation methods, and treatment of associated deficiencies such as epilepsy, mental deficiency, language, audition and visual problems, and the attention deficit improve the prognosis in an important way. the prognosis depends on the severity of the disease and the associated manifestations.
Neurocisticercosis en pediatría
Malagón Valdez,Jorge;
Medicina (Buenos Aires) , 2009,
Abstract: cysticercosis: parasitic disease which affects 3% of the population in mexico. it is considered that there are more than 50 million infected people in the world, endemic in mexico, central and south america, africa, asia and india. it is considered the most important neurological infectious disease world-wide for its clinical manifestations. the causal agent in pigs and humans is the cysticercus of the taenia solium, that can lodge in muscle, brain and ventricles. if pork meat contaminated with cysticercus is eaten, the tapeworm will live in the human intestine and create thousands of eggs that are excreted by the feces. when food contaminated with fecal matter is consumed by man or pig, the cisticercosis is disseminated in several parts of the organism, specially cns. man is the only host of the tapeworm and the pig is the only intermediary, reason why the prevalence of the teniasis-cisticercosis depends on this bond. it is diagnosed in endemic zones by the presence of convulsion crises, focal migraine, neurological symptoms, disorders of vision, endocraneal hypertension and ct scan with hypodense zones or cysts with a hyperdense ring. the antiparasitic treatment in children is controversial among pediatricians; it is suggested to use it only in the non calcified cystic phase and in cases associated with epilepsy. few are the cases of hydrocephalic or intraventricular cysticercus that need surgical treatment.
