PROGRAMA DE INTERVENCION PARA ELEVAR LOS NIVELES DE AUTOESTIMA EN ALUMNAS DE SEXTO A?O BASICO
Valdés G,Lídice;
Estudios pedagógicos (Valdivia) , 2001, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-07052001000100005
Abstract: in this work, the level of self-esteem among sixth grade girls was measured, presenting immature behavior in their social interactions. this study was centered on the measurements on their general, social, school and home behavior, following the procedure described by coopersmith (1984) in the inventory of self-esteem. the pre and post-tests were applied to the same group of students during the first semester of the years 1999 and 2000. the statistical analysis shows that in average the students increased their level of self-esteem in the four areas of study.

Abstract: llenges posed to the maternal circulation by pregnancy Review (2931) Total Article Views Authors: Valdés G, Corthorn J Published Date August 2011 Volume 2011:4 Pages 45 - 53 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.2147/IBPC.S8393 Gloria Valdés, Jenny Corthorn Centro de Investigaciones Médicas y Departamento Nefrología, Escuela Medicina, Pontificia Universidad Católica, Santiago, Chile Abstract: In primates, adequate growth of the fetus depends on the development of the uteroplacental unit. On the fetal side, this is achieved by the creation of the vascular network of the placenta. On the maternal side, the transformation of the spiral arteries into saccular nonreactive vessels by the trophoblast provides high blood flow to the intervillous space. Apart from the changes in the uterine arteries, the mother expands her plasma volume – at the expense of stimulating the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system – and her cardiac output. In the maintaining of normotension in the face of an increased cardiac output and plasma volume, the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system requires an enhanced vasodilator synthesis. Finally, in the late stages of pregnancy, a normal endothelial function is required to provide an ample margin to the activation provoked by deportation of syncytiotrophoblast fragments/factors to the maternal circulation. These four adaptative processes require various interrelated vasodilator systems. Deficient adaptations cause isolated or proteinuric arterial hypertension, intrauterine growth restriction, preterm delivery, and stillbirths, among others. Moreover, a normal or a defective adaptation to pregnancy influences maternal cardiovascular health in later life, as evidenced by various studies, most of them epidemiological; thus, pregnancy is now considered a stress test to the maternal cardiovascular system. Because of this, women planning to become pregnant should be screened for clinical and biochemical cardiovascular risks. Inversely, women presenting with hypertension in pregnancy should be thoroughly studied to detect and correct cardiovascular risks. The incorporation of the predictive value of a hypertensive pregnancy should help reduce cardiovascular disease in women.

Abstract: levonorgestrel - releasing intrauterine system (lng-ius) besides their contraception effect, it diminishes the uterine bleeding. the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of lng-ius in decreasing menstrual blood loss in cases of benign uterine pathologies. a total of 8 women are presented that have completed one year from the insertion of lng-ius for abnormal uterine bleeding. all these cases had initially a surgical indication according to traditional approaches of resolution for a benign pathology. at the end of the study period, the pattern of bleeding, the acceptability of the treatment as well as the presence of surgical decision criteria were evaluated. in one out of eight there was a quick growth of an intramural myoma and expulsion of the intrauterine device. a multiple myomectomy was performed in this case. in conclusion the use of lng-ius for treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, associate or not to the contraception, it should be an alternative treatment in cases of benign pathologies
