Nonsmooth Optimization Algorithms in Some Problems of Fracture Dynamics  [PDF]

Abstract: Mathematical statement of elastodynamic contact problem for cracked body with considering unilateral restrictions and friction of the crack faces is done in classical and weak forms. Different variational formulations of unilateral contact problems with friction based on boundary variational principle are considered. Nonsmooth optimization algorithms of Udzawa’s type for solution of unilateral contact problem with friction have been developed. Convergence of the proposed algorithms has been studied numerically.

A High Order Theory for Linear Thermoelastic Shells: Comparison with Classical Theories

Abstract: A high order theory for linear thermoelasticity and heat conductivity of shells has been developed. The proposed theory is based on expansion of the 3D equations of theory of thermoelasticity and heat conductivity into Fourier series in terms of Legendre polynomials. The first physical quantities that describe thermodynamic state have been expanded into Fourier series in terms of Legendre polynomials with respect to a thickness coordinate. Thereby all equations of elasticity and heat conductivity including generalized Hooke's and Fourier's laws have been transformed to the corresponding equations for coefficients of the polynomial expansion. Then in the same way as in the 3-D theories system of differential equations in terms of displacements and boundary conditions for Fourier coefficients has been obtained. First approximation theory is considered in more detail. The obtained equations for the first approximation theory are compared with the corresponding equations for Timoshenko's and Kirchhoff-Love's theories. Special case of plates and cylindrical shell is also considered, and corresponding equations in displacements are presented. 1. Introduction The development of microelectromechanical and nanoelectromechanical technologies extends the field of application of the classical or nonclassical theories of plates and shells towards the new thin-walled structures. The classical elasticity can be extended to the micro- and nanoscale by implementation of the theory of elasticity taking into account the physical phenomenon that can occur in such structures and devices [1, 2]. Classical theories of beams, rods, plates, and shells are usually related to names of Bernoulli, Euler, Kirchhoff, and Love. These theories are based on well-known physical hypothesis; they are very popular among an engineering community because of their relative simplicity and physical clarity. Numerous books and monographs have been written in the subject among others one can refer to [3–6]. But unfortunately classical theories have some shortcomings and logical contradictions such as their proximity and inaccuracy and as result in some cases not good agreement with results obtained with 3D approach and experiments. Therefore there is demand in developing new more accurate theories. We can mention at least two approaches to development of the theories of thin-walled structures. Abstract: For the evaluation of tenders in public procurement in the paper it was proposed to use the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). On the basis of this method was built hierarchical scheme comparisons and also propose a technique that, to some extent generalizes the AHP due to the special status of the indicator value. Methodology for evaluating proposals bidding in public procurement for the military units of internal troops through the use of the analytic hierarchy process can be used in the practice of bidding committees. Для оценки предложений конкурсных торгов в системе государственных закупок в работе было предложено использование метода анализа иерархий (МАИ). На основе этого метода была построена иерархическая схема сравнений, а также предложена конкретная методика, которая в некоторой мере обобщает МАИ в связи с особым статусом показателя стоимости. Методика оценки предложений конкурсных торгов в системе государственных закупок для военных частей внутренних войск на основе применения метода анализа иерархий может быть использована в практической деятельности комитетами по конкурсным торгам.
Fluctuations in the Canonical Ensemble

Abstract: The particle number and energy fluctuations in the system of charged particles are studied in the canonical ensemble for non-zero net values of the conserved charge. In the thermodynamic limit the fluctuations in the canonical ensemble are different from the fluctuations in the grand canonical one. The system with several species of particles is considered. We calculate the quantum statistics effects which can be taken into account for the canonical ensemble fluctuations in the infinite volume limit. The fluctuations of the particle numbers in the pion-nucleon gas are considered in the canonical ensemble as an example of the system with two conserved charges - baryonic number and electric charge.

Abstract: We study propagation of a pair of oppositely charged and mutually incoherent vortices in anisotropic nonlinear optical media. Mutual interactions retard the delocalization of the vortex core observed for isolated vortices.
Multiplicity Fluctuations in Hadron-Resonance Gas

Abstract: The charged hadron multiplicity fluctuations are considered in the canonical ensemble. The microscopic correlator method is extended to include three conserved charges: baryon number, electric charge and strangeness. The analytical formulae are presented that allow to include resonance decay contributions to correlations and fluctuations. We make the predictions for the scaled variances of negative, positive and all charged hadrons in the most central Pb+Pb (Au+Au) collisions for different collision energies from SIS and AGS to SPS and RHIC.
Multisubunit complex eEF1H in human glial tumors: from mRNA to protein

Abstract: Aim. To investigate protein level of all subunits of the eukaryotic elongation translation factor eEF1H (eEF1A, eEF1Bα, eEF1Bβand eEF1Bγ) in glial tumors of human brain in comparison with normal brain. Methods. The eEF1H components content has been investigated in human glioblastoma clinical samples by Western blot analysis. Results. To determine the eEF1Bα, eEF1Bβ and eEF1Bγ content, the polyclonal antibodies against all eEF1H subunits were obtained. The tendency of the eEF1Bγ protein level to increase in glioblastomas was observed. There were no significant differences in the eEF1A, eEF1Bα and eEF1Bβ protein contents. Conclusions. In the previous report we analysed the expression of all eEF1H subunits in human glial brain tumor on the mRNA level. This study showed that eEF1Bγ was overexpressed while no significant changes in other eEF1H subunits were observed. It suggests a possible function of eEFBg which is cancer-related and is not connected with the functioning of eEF1H complex in translation.
Particle Number Fluctuations in the Microcanonical Ensemble

Abstract: Particle number fluctuations are studied in the microcanonical ensemble. For the Boltzmann statistics we deduce exact analytical formulae for the microcanonical partition functions in the case of non-interacting massless neutral particles and charged particles with zero net charge. The particle number fluctuations are calculated and we find that in the microcanonical ensemble they are suppressed in comparison to the fluctuations in the canonical and grand canonical ensembles. This remains valid in the thermodynamic limit too, so that the well-known equivalence of all statistical ensembles refers to average quantities, but does not apply to fluctuations. In the thermodynamic limit we are able to calculate the particle number fluctuations in the system of massive bosons and fermions when the exact conservation laws of both the energy and charge are taken into account.
Quantum Gases in the Microcanonical Ensemble near the Thermodynamic Limit

Abstract: A new method is proposed for a treatment of ideal quantum gases in the microcanonical ensemble near the thermodynamic limit. The method allows rigorous asymptotic calculations of the average number of particles and particle number fluctuations in the microcanonical ensemble. It gives also the finite-volume corrections due to exact energy conservation for the total average number of particles and for higher moments of the particle number distribution in a system approaching the thermodynamic limit. A present consideration confirms our previous findings that the scaled variance for particle number fluctuations in the microcanonical ensemble is different from that in the grand canonical ensemble even in the thermodynamic limit.
