Maximum Available Accuracy of FM-CW Radars
V. Ricny
Radioengineering , 2009,
Abstract: This article deals with the principles and above all with the maximum available measuring accuracy analyse of FM-CW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radars, which are usually employed for distance and velocity measurements of moving objects in road traffic, as well as air traffic and in other applications. These radars often form an important part of the active safety equipment of high-end cars – the so-called anticollision systems. They usually work in the frequency bands of mm waves (24, 35, 77 GHz). Function principles and analyses of factors, that dominantly influence the distance measurement accuracy of these equipments especially in the modulation and demodulation part, are shown in the paper.
Laboratory of Digital Video and Television Technology
V. Ricny
Radioengineering , 2004,
Abstract: This short paper provides information on the technicalinstrumentation and application possibilities of the newly installedlaboratory of digital video and television technology at the Departmentof Radio Electronics FEEC BTU in Brno . This laboratory can be used forlaboratory education and research.
Single Frequency Networks (SFN) in Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting
V. Ricny
Radioengineering , 2007,
Abstract: The paper deals with principles and properties of single frequency networks of digital television and radio transmitters. Basic definitions and contextual relationships (guard interval, area of SFN, influence of used modulation parameters etc.) are explained.
Digital Realization of the Test Signal Generator Sin^2 20T
V. Ricny
Radioengineering , 2002,
Abstract: The paper deals with the digital implementation of the generator oftest signal sin^2 20T. This function has a limited spectrum in theluminance and chrominance areas of the color composite signal. Thesignal is frequently used for measurements of the transmission channelsin color television technology. The paper arises from the contribution[1].
Contactless Opto-electronic Area and Their Attainable Measuring Accuracy
V. Ricny
Radioengineering , 2001,
Abstract: This paper deals with the problems of the contactless areameasurement on the principle of video signal processing. This videosignal generates TV camera, which scans the measured object. Basicprinciple of these meters is explained and attainable measurementaccuracy and factors influencing this accuracy are analyzed.
Compression Standard MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Coding)
V. Ricny
Radioengineering , 2006,
Abstract: This letter deals with the basic principles and functions of the new compression standard MPEG-4 AVC, which has been developed for an effective compression of the digital video data; for digital signals of the high definition television (HDTV) especially.
Comb Filters with Analog Shift Registers BCCD
V. Ricny,V. Novotny
Radioengineering , 1995,
Abstract: This contribution deals with the concept and circumferential structure of comb filter for video signal processing. The comb filter was implemented by means of an analog shift register CCD (BCCD). The main conclusions, including the measured frequency response characteristic and time responses of the necessary control signals, are presented. This problem has been investigated as part of the GACR project.
Analysis of Resolution in Aerial Earth Surface Photography
V. Ricny,M. Slanina
Radioengineering , 2011,
Abstract: The paper deals with a simplified analysis of subjective resolution of an aerial sensing system for Earth surface photography in the visible light spectrum. The proposed simplified linear method allows approximate estimation of the minimal target size in the image scanned using a camera with CCD sensor.
Estimating PSNR in High Definition H.264/AVC Video Sequences Using Artificial Neural Networks
M. Slanina,V. Ricny
Radioengineering , 2008,
Abstract: The paper presents a video quality metric designed for the H.264/AVC codec. The metric operates directly on the encoded H.264/AVC bit stream, parses the encoding parameters and processes them using an artificial neural network. The network is designed to estimate peak signal-to-noise ratios of the video sequence frames, thus enabling computation of full reference objective quality metric values without having the undistorted video material prior to encoding for comparison. We present the metric framework and test its performance for LDTV (low definition television) as well as HDTV (high definition television) video material.
Contactless Area Measurement (Contactless Planimeter)
V. Ricny,P. Stancik
Radioengineering , 2008,
Abstract: The paper describes the designed hardware and software systems (so-called planimeters) for contactless measurement of areas (eventually geometric distances between two selected points) of planar projections of various objects. These systems operate on the principle of processing the video signal scanned by a digital camera (or TV camera).
