Chemical reaction and radiation effects on the transient MHD free convection flow of dissipative fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate with ramped wall temperature

Abstract: A finite-difference analysis is performed to study the effects of thermal radiation and chemical reaction on the transient MHD free convection and mass transform flow of a dissipative fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate subject to ramped wall temperature. The fluid considered here is a gray, absorbing/ /emitting radiation but a non-scattering medium. The dimensionless governing equations are unsteady, coupled and non-linear partial differential equations. An analytical method fails to give a solution. Hence an implicit finite difference scheme of Crank-Nicolson method is employed. The effect of the magnetic parameter (M), chemical reaction parameter (K), radiation parameter (F), buoyancy ratio parameter (N), Schmidt number (Sc) on the velocity field and skin friction for both air (Pr = 0.71) and water (Pr = 7) in the presence of both aiding (N>0) and opposing (N<0) flows are extensively discussed with the help of graphs.

Abstract: This paper presents an effective decision making framework for software selection in manufacturing industries using a multiple criteria decision making method, Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE). The method is improved in the present work by integrating with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is introduced to handle the imprecision of the human decision making process. The proposed decision making framework is practical for ranking competing software products in terms of their overall performance with respect to multiple criteria. An example is included to illustrate the approach.

Abstract: According to an FDA survey conducted between 1995 and 2002, only 9% of the new drug entities belonged to BCS class-I category, majority of new drug candidates (approximately more than 40%) have poor aqueous solubility because of their low bioavailability. Self emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS) are a class of lipid based delivery systems consisting of oil, one or more surfactants and optionally a co-surfactant that spontaneously emulsifies to form oil-in-water micro and nano-emulsions under gentle mixing conditions in the gastrointestinal environment. These systems have shown great promise for enhancing bioavailability of low solubility compounds. Conventional SEDDS are normally prepared in a liquid dosage form that can be administered in soft gelatin capsules, which have some disadvantages especially in the manufacturing process. Accordingly, Solid-self emulsifying drug delivery systems (S-SEDDS), prepared by solidification of liquid/semi-solid self emulsifying ingredients into powders in order to create solid dosage forms. This article focuses on the recent trends in the development of S-SEDDS, especially the related solidification techniques.

Abstract: A series of new N-substituted cyclic imides of coumarins and azacoumarins have been synthesized. All the compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. α-Amylase enzyme inhibition activities of some N-substituted phthalimide derivatives have been explored. All the compounds were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, and GC-MS.

Abstract: An investor would like to build a balanced portfolio with stocks representing different sectors. Several researchers have attempted the portfolio selection problem by different methods. Many of these methods consider companies of different sectors together. However, it can be argued that the attributes affecting the company’s growth vary for different sectors. Therefore, it is advisable to compare a company with the companies of the same sector. There are many options for the selection of a stock from a particular sector. A stock ranking method is proposed by using MADM methods based on overall performance under a stochastic environment. Of many MADM methods, SAW, AHP, TOPSIS, and VIKOR are applied. Usually, Euclidean distances (2-norm) are considered in the implementation of TOPSIS and VIKOR methods. In this work, this norm is generalized to p-norm, where p > 1. The model is tested for 13 companies in the field of Information Technology sector (IT) listed on National Stock Exchange in India and 13 criteria as performance indicators of a company. A MATLAB GUI system is developed and the results are obtained for several values of p in case of TOPSIS and VIKOR methods besides other methods. As the result indicates, the ordering is not much affected by different values of p in certain range. Moreover, higher values of p have adverse effect on the ordering. The proposed model is able to provide better information on the overall performance of a particular stock in comparison with its peers. The results obtained by various methods clearly separate good companies from inferior companies though the exact ordering slightly differs.

Abstract: Dent disease 1 (OMIM #300009)X-linked recessive nephrolithiasis (OMIM #310468)X-linked recessive hypercalciuric hypophosphataemic rickets (OMIM #300554)Low-molecular-weight proteinuria with hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis (OMIM #308990)Dent disease 2 (OMIM #300555)Dent's disease (OMIM #300009) refers to a heterogeneous group of X-linked disorders that have previously been reported as X-linked recessive nephrolithiasis, X-linked hypercalciuric hypophosphataemic rickets, or idiopathic low-molecular-weight proteinuria with hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis [1-6]. The disease is characterized by manifestations of proximal tubule (PT) dysfunction associated with hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis, nephrocalcinosis, and progressive renal failure [7]. Low-molecular-weight (LMW) proteinuria represents the most consistent manifestation of Dent's disease, detected in almost all affected males and obligate female carriers. There is considerable inter- and intra-familial variability in the other manifestations of PT dysfunction, which may cause a renal Fanconi syndrome with hypophosphataemic rickets, as well as in the extent of nephrocalcinosis/nephrolithiasis. Dent's disease is a rare disorder, with around 250 affected families reported to date [8,9].Dent's disease is characterized by PT dysfunction and LMW proteinuria, associated with hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis, nephrocalcinosis, and progressive renal failure. Dent's disease may also be associated with aminoaciduria, phosphaturia, glycosuria, uricosuria, kaliuresis, and impaired urinary acidification, and is often complicated by rickets or osteomalacia [4]. 4D Model Through GIS for Planning and Scheduling of Residential Construction Projects

Abstract: Construction industry requires a highly accurate planning, scheduling and management of the process of the project which can facilitate the overall optimization of the cost, time and resources. The traditional system of using of AutoCAD drawings, MS Project and Primavera for scheduling does not satisfy the clients in making them understanding the project status and also find time consuming. Hence, an efficient method is proposed in this study implementing Geographical Information System (GIS) as a platform to link the plan of building and its corresponding schedule of executing the construction of building. GIS is relatively an emerging field for managing the spatial and the non-spatial data. The aim of the study is intended to demonstrate methodology of creating the GIS based 4D Model for optimization and real time monitoring of the project. The plan of the building drafted using the drafting software (AutoCAD) and the corresponding schedule of the building generated by Project Management Software (MS Project) were interlinked using GIS platform. This enables the planner to get a clear picture in the planning stage and better control for the progress of the work in the most appropriate manner rather than the conventional methods of controlling the progress of the work with the help of management software. GIS based enclosure also paves the way to include the non-spatial information like bill of quantities, labour requirement, safety recommendations, etc. and can be stored as a tabular form for the corresponding drawing. A case study of one storey residential building at Thangam nagar in Erode, Tamilnadu, India has been selected for the study.
CDMA Based Interconnect Mechanism for SOPC

Abstract: The Network-on-chip (NoC) designs consisting of large pack of Intellectual Property (IP) blocks (cores) on the same silicon die is becoming technically possible nowadays. But, the communication between the IP Cores is the main issue in recent years. This paper presents the design of a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) based wrapper interconnect as a component of System on programmable chip (SOPC) builder to communicate between IP cores. In the proposal, only bus lines that carry address and data signals are CDMA coded. CDMA technology has better data integrity, channel continuity, channel isolation, and also mainly it reduces the no.of lines in the bus architecture for transmitting the data from master to slave.
DIAGNOSTIC FEEDBACK MODEL IN DEVELOPING SPEAKING SKILLS IN ESL LEARNERS – AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

Abstract: Engineering classrooms often contain mixed-ability students with less interest in language study. These students come from different backgrounds and different mediums of instruction. Grammar translation method, communicative approach, or multimedia fail to entertain one or the other group of students in the same classroom. Diagnostic Feedback Model can be utilised for effective language teaching in such mixed-ability classrooms. With a descriptive research design, an evaluative study is conducted in VV College of Engineering, Tisaiyanvilai. 200 students and 10 teachers are involved in the study. Meetings are conducted periodically. Tasks for the pre-tests and criteria for evaluation are designed by the teachers. The pre-assessment contains items to check listening, body language, fluency, and accuracy of the students in speaking. The criteria provides 5 – 1 range of marks for each sub-skill in speaking. The students are made to speak and are evaluated by the teachers using the criteria. Based on the diagnostic feedback model, data consolidation is done by the teachers. The diagnostic feedback model provide the teachers with the strengths and areas of improvement of the students. According to the overall scores, the students are classified into Beginner / Intermediate / Proficient instead of Below Average / Average / Above Average. Activities for each group are defined uniquely, and training is conducted separately for each group. At the end of the course, post-assessments are conducted using the same criteria. In the post-assessments, the average scores of 'Beginners' have increased from 20 to 35, the average scores of 'Intermediate' students have increased from 30 to 43, and the average scores of 'Proficient' students have increased from 40 to 48. This implies that diagnostic feedback model works well in mixed ability classrooms in engineering colleges.
COMPARATIVE APHRODISIAC ACTIVITY PROFILE OF MILK AND AQUEOUS DECOCTION OF ASPARAGUS RACEMOSUS WILLD. IN MALE ALBINO RATS

Abstract: Asparagus racemosus is classified in Ayurveda, the ancient Hindu system of medicine, as Vajikaran because of their positive in uence on sexual performance in humans. A traditional belief regarding mode of administration of Asparagus racemosus is still unrevealed. According to this conviction Ksheerpaka (milk decoction) of Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is therapeutically more potent than any other form of dosage. In present study Aphrodisiac activity was tested to validate cited traditional claim regarding potentiality of milk decoction of A. racemosus. Milk and aqueous decoction of roots of A. racemosus, were studied for aphrodisiac activity in male albino rats and compared with untreated control group animals (total N = 60). The rats were evaluated for effect of treatments on anabolic effect. Six measures of sexual behavior were evaluated. 200 mg/ kg body weight of milk decoction showed a signi cant difference in the sexual behavior of animals as re ected by reduction of mount latency, ejaculation latency, post ejaculatory latency, intromission latency, and an increase of mount frequency. Penile erection (indicated by Penile Erection Index) was also considerably enhanced. Reduced hesitation time (an indicator of attraction towards female in treated rats) also indicated an improvement in sexual behavior of extract treated animals. The observed effects appear to be attributable to the testosterone-like effects of the milk decoction of A. racemosus. Nitric oxide based intervention may also be involved as observable from the improved penile erection. Present results provide evidence that the milk decoction of A. racemosus not only useful in overall sexual performance but may also be helpful in erectile dysfunction. Therefore, the traditional belief that Ksheerpaka (milk decoction) of Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is more potent adaptogenic than any other form of dosage may be valid.
