Abstract: objective: the study evaluated the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (icer) of the prophylaxis of palivizumab, for the reduction of complications associated to the respiratory syncytial virus in preterm patients in mexico. material and methods: a decision tree was developed in preterm groups [<29 and 29-32 weeks of gestational age (wga)], by using epidemiological and cost local data; the effectiveness was obtained with a systematic review. patients were evaluated according to their life expectancy. mexican health system perspective was used. effectiveness measures employed were lyg and qalys. the costs are reported in usd 2009. results: icers per lyg resulted on values of usd $25,029 and usd $29,637 for <29 wga and 29-32 wga respectively, whereas icers per qalys obtained in the model accounted for usd $17,532 and usd $20,760. conclusions: palivizumab prophylaxis for preterm newborn patients ≤32 weeks of age resulted in a cost-effective alternative.
Calibration and Simulation of Arbitrage Effects in a Non-Equilibrium Quantum Black-Scholes Model by Using Semi-Classical Methods  [PDF]
Mauricio Contreras, Rely Pellicer, Daniel Santiagos, Marcelo Villena
Journal of Mathematical Finance (JMF) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jmf.2016.64042
Abstract: An non-equilibrium Black-Scholes model, where the usual constant interest rate r is replaced by a stochastic time dependent rate r(t) of the form r(t)=r+f (t)W(t), accounting for market imperfections and prices non-alignment, is developed. The white noise amplitude f (t), called arbitrage bubble, generates a time dependent potential U(t) which changes the usual equilibrium dynamics of the traditional Black-Scholes model. The purpose of this article is to tackle the inverse problem, that is, is it possible to extract the time dependent potential U(t) and its associated bubble shape f (t), from the real empirical financial data? In order to give an answer to this question, the interacting Black-Scholes equation must be interpreted as a quantum Schrodinger equation with Hamiltonian operator H=H0+ U(t), where H0 is the equilibrium Black-Scholes Hamiltonian and U(t) is the interaction term. By using semi-classical considerations and the knowledge about the mispricing of the financial data, one can determinate an approximate functional form of the potential term U(t) and its associated bubble f (t), In all the studied cases, the non-equilibrium model performs a better estimation of the real data than the usual equilibrium model. It is expected that this new and simple methodology could help to improve option pricing estimations.
Heat and Gender Do Not Affect the Professor’s Moral Reasoning  [PDF]
Víctor Hugo Robles Francia
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2018.64017
People illness by the heat is an obligated discussion lately. The heat affects the cognitive activity of people and the women are especially affected by it. So, the cognitive reasoning of the Moral Judgment is influenced by this kind of weather, and indirectly by the sex. To study the sex and heat incidence on Moral Judgment of university professors was the purpose of this research. The university professors are moral agents because they complement and supplant the family regulations and the educative precedent rules. The Moral Judgment of 212 superior education professor was registered by the Moral Judgment Test. 121 professors in a dry weather and 91 in a tropical were measured, 98 women and 114 men. The sex neither the heat explained the moral judgment level of professors. But this competence in the professors observed a low level. This suggests that actions to improve moral judgment must be made. So, the antecedents, the theory, and the findings are discussed in this article.
Estrutura factorial do Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory - ZTPI numa amostra de estudantes universitários portugueses
Ortu?o,Víctor; Gamboa,Víctor;
Avances en Psicología Latinoamericana , 2009,
Abstract: the zimbardo time perspective inventory - ztpi (zimbardo & boyd, 1999) is composed by a five factors scale (past positive, past negative, present hedonist, present fatalist and future) that evaluates time perspective in a multidimensional manner which, in this way, surpasses one of the limitations of past instruments. the aim of this study is to analyze the factorial structure of the ztpi's portuguese version using a sample of 277 portuguese college students, with ages between 18 and 53 years old (m = 22, sd = 5.43). five factors were encountered, that explain 35.25% of total variance. these results are much alike the one obtained by zimbardo and boyd (1999), in the original instrument publication.
Educación de Postgrado o Educación Avanzada en Venezuela: ?Para qué?
Investigación y Postgrado , 2005,
Abstract: this article describes and argues about the evolution and characteristics of the graduate programs worldwide, making emphasis in the venezuelan case. the social importance of graduate studies is enhanced, not only because it is the highest level of the education system, but because of the close relation to the intellectual production (scientific, technological and humanistic). a proposal for the creation of an advanced education system is described (wider concept than that of graduate school) and it is argued that in countries like venezuela, with low development and high dependence of foreign countries, the main criterion to launch programs at this level should be the social relevance.
Una forma atípica de síndrome de QT largo: Heraldos de muerte súbita cardíaca
Gaceta Médica de Caracas , 2008,
Abstract: the study presents two cases with features related to atypical forms of long qt syndrome. the qt syndrome has been reviewed recently, the presence of autonomic imbalance, the dispersion of repolarization, the heterogeneity of its genetic basis in explaining its clinical presentations have call the atention of the investigators. two siblings patients (male and female) were studied; both presented ventricular tachycardia under conditions of augmented adrenergic tone (fear and exercise) and their mother died suddenly before age fifty. electrocardiogram, vectocardiogram, signal average electrocardiogram, bidimensional echo were performed in both, additionally he was studied with coronary angiography. the resting electrocardiogram in him showed nonspecific repolarization anormalities, ventricular tachycardia with right bundle branch configuration in one occasion. lack of proper shortening of the qt interval during de stress test. signal average electrocardiogram, bi-dimensional echo and coronary angiography were normal. she had a normal electrocardiogram and echocardiogram but developed a ventricular tachycardia with left bundle branch configuration during the early stages of an stress test. patients with a positive family history of sudden death, non-specific repolarization anormalities, lack of shortening of the qt interval with increasing heart rate (hypodinamic qt) are suspicious of developing ventricular tachycardia under conditions of augmented adrenergic tone. preventive measures should be taken in patients with this conditions.
La sociología de los mercados laborales en los estudios sobre el empleo agrícola
Rau,Víctor Horacio;
Gaceta Laboral , 2006,
Abstract: based on a review of previous studies on rural wage labour, this survey attempts to evaluate the relevance, contribution of, and possibilities for developing a sociology of labour markets within this area of interest. we begin by defining the main characteristics of the so called sociological theory of labour markets, recreating its developmental process within the science of economics. then, we analyse how various rural wage labour studies have paid attention to empirical phenomena or employed theoretical ideas related specifically to the area of labour markets and, especially, to the themes posed by the sociological approach to them. we conclude that the sociology of labor markets has been present one way or another since the establishment of rural wage laborers analysis as a field of study. among the analytical aspects involved in the conception of labor markets as social institutions, we assert that the area least tackled in specific research has so far been the historical or genetic one. finally, we sustain that one of the principal ways available to continue developing the potential of the sociological approach is, precisely, to include it and go deeper into those aspects of analysis in studies of rural labor markets.

Abstract: in the present paper the author examines the personal experience vicissitudes of the declarative action of unconstitutionality in the federal argentine frame versus the actions that are merely declarative; the metamorphous the first topic mentioned has suffered in the perception of the jurisprudence of the supreme justice court of the nation; its limitation in the guidelines of the article 322 of the civil and commercial legal code of the nation; and its use and value as a functional tool inside the constitutionality control system. to complete the analysis chart and in function of the federal argentine state structure, a descriptive designation of the different constitutional provisions and, in some cases, infra-constitutional provisions of argentine provinces and the autonomous city of buenos aires in relation to the declarative action of unconstitutionality in the respective local boundaries is undertaken.
Escalas en ecología: su importancia para el estudio de la selección de hábitat en aves
Cueto,Víctor R.;
El hornero , 2006,
Abstract: i discuss about the meaning of scale in ecology, and how spatial dimensions of our study influence observed patterns and conclusions about processes producing them. i analyze the importance of establishing the spatial scale in our studies when we evaluate avian habitat selection, and i discuss methods and conclusions of a multiple-scale investigation on bird-vegetation relationships. i conclude that understanding the importance of scale in our investigations allows a better planning of the research project, facilitates the interpretation of the obtained results, and improves the potential to find explanations for the problem under study.

Abstract: biodiversity is the variety and variability of living things and of the ecosystem that they constitute. it can be studied at three levels: genes, species, and ecosystems. the most common way to quantify biodiversity is using the species level. estimates place the number of species in the world at around thirteen million, yet only 1.7 million of these have been identified and described. there is evidence that we are destroying species faster than we are identifying them. this paper is a presentation of the problem of the loss of biodiversity as a sign of our time. also biological systematics and education are discussed as tools to ameliorate the problem
