Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the results of osteometric analyses applied to camelid bones samples from Moche sites (I and VII AD) located on the north coast of Peru. The bones analyzed in this study correspond to first phalanges from two Moche archaeological sites (Cerro Chepén and Moche Urban Zone). Discriminant analysis was conducted on a sample of 44 first phalanges, taking into account five measurments in each bone. The results showed the identification in both sites of two species of domestic camelids, Lama glama “llama” and Lama pacos“alpaca.” The interpretation of the results is discussed by explaining a model of geographic or vicariant speciation of camelids that inhabited the coast of Peru during Moche times. This model takes into account that in this environment currently camelids are not breed, as well as genetics and evolutionary factors in the new domestic form, the effect of Bergmann’s Rule, and new grasses in the morphology of this new form of domestic camelid, ,which lived in the region at the time of Moche.

Abstract: maternal morbidity is one of the first causes of women's welfare alteration in the less-developed countries; therefore, their reproductive health has been a research priority in most of these societies. however, the dominance of the clinical/biomedical research on this topic has been notable, and shown the gap and need for studies reporting this phenomenon from an integral perspective. the knowledge, attitude and practices (kap) studies are an alternative design to approaching this complex situation. the kap proposal offers a comprehensive approach to understanding the behaviors related to people's health through its three main components, and its results have been cornerstone for the situation diagnoses, leading to the creation, execution and evaluation of sanitary programs. hence, the objective of this paper is to show and to discuss some evidences related to the utility of this approach in women's reproductive health.

Abstract: soil mite diversity (prostigmata, mesostigmata, astigmata) inhabiting in litter-soil layer from a shrubland and a deciduous forest was estimated from december 2000 to november 2001 in the university park of ucla (universidad centroccidental lisandro alvarado), state of lara, venezuela. samplings were made by using pitfall traps along an 1,800 m-transect in both areas. all morfotypes were mounted in microscope slides using hoyer's medium. a total of 51 mite morfotypes were collected with higher abundance in prostigmata (2,528) as compared to mesostigmata (926) and astigmata (12). eupodidae (prostigmata) and macrochelidae (mesotigmata) showed higher abundance in both locations. higher morfotype richness (s= 43), diversity (h'= 2.67) and evenness (e= 0.69) were found in deciduous forest compared to values from shrubland (s= 36, h'= 2.12 and e= 0.52). both areas showed a similarity index (j') of 0.59. although more individuals were found in shrubland, the diversity-dominance curves indicated that this is a more disturbed habitat than deciduous forest. further detailed studies are required to determine acarofauna role in trophic web maintenance in soils from tropical areas.

Psicoperspectivas , 2013, DOI: 10.5027/psicoperspectivas-Vol12-Issue1-fulltext-230
Abstract: we report the results of a qualitative piece of research conducted in the bio-bio region of chile, which aimed at studying how students perceive democracy and human rights when they finished their elementary education. it also looked into how they perceive these topics in their curriculum and in learning activities to which they had been exposed in their history class. results suggest that, even though both get covered reasonably well, there are big differences across students in terms of assimilation. although students perceive democracy as a static concept, rigid and stalled in time, most of the time foreign to school experience and which fits in other contexts, they believe human rights are fundamental in order to guarantee justice, freedom of speech, respect to diversity and community life.

Abstract: The third millennium marks the opening of a new historical cycle for university education, the new Venezuelan university, which stands in the context of the Mission Alma Mater, based on a new conception of society, science and technology and professional is required for national and Latin American integration. This third historical cycle of the university consists of momentous changes not only in the fundamentals and principles that define the phenomenology university, but also how these have operated for so long. Therefore arises as the central axis of the article, the need for a new epistemological conception of the university. This paper presents new definitions and ways of responding to this epistemological void, specifically in the transformation of the Colleges and University Institutes of Technology in Regional Polytechnic Universities, a process that is part of the Mission Alma Mater, which constitutes the axis central to the expansion and modernization of the education system and one of the biggest challenges of the Bolivarian government for Venezuela's college education.
