DETERMINATION OF GALLIC ACID IN ACACIA NILOTICA LINN. BY HPTLC

Abstract: The stem bark of Acacia nilotica is used as a powerful astringent and the decoction is used as gargle for throat troubles and stomatitis.q3 Bark contains several polyphenols such as catechin,epicatechin, dicatechin, quercetin and tannin. Gallic acid has been reported to have antidiabetic,antithrombotic, anti inflammatory and anticarcinogenic activities. A simple, precise and accuratehigh-performance thin layer chromatographic method has been established for the determination of Gallic acid in the bark powder of Acacia nilotica Linn. The acetone extract of the bark powder wasused for the experimental work. Separation was performed on Silica gel 60 F254 HPTLC plates with Toluene: Ethyl acetate: Formic acid (6:4:0.8 v/v), as mobile phase. The plate was scanned in the densitometric absorbance mode at 280 nm. Gallic acid response was linear over the range 2-7 μg ml-1. The HPTLC method was validated in terms of sensitivity, accuracy, precision and reproducibility. The concentration of gallic acid in the bark powder was found to be 0.86%.

Abstract: TLC densitometric method for quantification of gallic acid, quercetin and lupeol using HPTLC is developed. This is the first report of quantification of these three bioactive compounds viz Gallic acid, quercetin and lupeol using HPTLC from this plant. Quantification of gallic acid and quercetin was carried out from the methanolic extract using the solvent system of Toluene: Ethyl acetate: Formic acid (6:4:0.8 v/v/v). Lupeol was quantified from chloroform extract using the solvent system of Toluene: Ethyl acetate (7:3 v/v). The Rf values of gallic acid, quercetin and lupeol are 0.22, 0.37 and 0.70 respectively. The linearity ranges for gallic acid (100 to 600ng), quercetin (2000 to 7000ng) and lupeol (100 to 1200ng) with correlation coefficients (r-values) of 0.99968, 0.99708, 0.99971 respectively. The amount of gallic acid, quercetin and lupeol was 124.31, 580.4, 24.89 μg/ml respectively. Quantification of gallic acid, quercetin and lupeol showed good resolution and separation from other constituents of extract. Its main advantages are its simplicity, accuracy, and selectivity. This method can also be used for the estimation of these compounds in other herbal preparations and may be useful for standardization purposes.

Abstract: Research is essential for expansion and diversification of any subject field. The scope of any sub-ject will be determined by the quality of research it produces. Not only this, research is also vital to be undertaken for survival and sustenance of the existing subject. Usually the research activities are undertaken for the welfare and betterment of living especially for humans. Library and Information research has always been the ultimate vision of academicians and intellectuals as it directly or indirectly influences research in other fields whether scientific, technical, social or otherwise. In the present study attempt has been made to have an analysis of Library and Information Science literature produced in four nations—Britain (United Kingdom), Russia (Russian Federation), India, China (BRIC). The current study is conceived to assess the quantitative aspect of research output scenario of BRIC nations for the period of last seventeen years i.e. 1996-2012 in the discipline of Library and Information Science (LIS). To undertake the study, data was retrieved from SJR—SCImago Journal & Country Rank on July 22, 2014, from http://www.scimagojr.com and the analysis is being undertaken on those documents/publications only identified on this particular databank. The study is undertaken with the view to evaluate and assess the general publication trend of Library Science in BRIC nations. Study of the related literature has also been undertaken briefly so as to develop better perception of the concept and thereby help in the furtherance of scope of the study.

Abstract: Cluster analysis plays a vital role in various fields in order to group similar data from the available database. There are various clustering algorithm available in order to cluster the data but the entire algorithm are not suitable for all process .This paper mainly address with the comparative performance analysis of partition based k-mean and y-mean algorithm in Iris flower datasets. The experimental results of iris data set show that the Y-Means algorithm yields the best results in clustering and time complexity compared with k-Mean algorithm in little iteration time.
The Heart of the Matter: Methodological Challenges in Developing a Contemporary 257-269 Reading Programme for Monolingual Lexicography, from the Perspective of the Dictionary Unit for South African English

Abstract: : This article argues the importance of the reading programme as the pivotal issue inthe lexicographic process. It is essentially a practical article which outlines strategies for developingand implementing a reading programme for monolingual lexicography. The arguments are informedby theory, together with an examination of the data-collection procedures followed by theDictionary Unit for South African English (DSAE) and a survey of current practice in major Englishdictionary units around the world, namely the Oxford English Dictionary, the Canadian OxfordDictionary, the Australian National Dictionary Centre and the New Zealand Dictionary Centre.The reading programme for the DSAE is first defined and contextualized within its mission statement.The article then explores the challenges inherent in sampling contemporary written and spokenEnglish in the South African multilingual context. It is intended to inform the DSAE's intakepolicy, in terms of the following critical issues: — the definition of South African English, — the monitoring and selection of print, oral and electronic sources, — the excerpting of citations and relevant bibliographic information, and — the recruiting and training of readers. These interlinked aspects of the reading programme have crucial implications for the quality andauthority of the monolingual dictionary on historical principles. Abstract: This paper presents a frame work for hardware acceleration for post video processing system implemented on FPGA. The deblocking filter algorithms ported on SOC having Altera NIOS-II soft core processor.SOC designed with the help of SOPC builder .Custom instructions are chosen by identifying the most frequently used tasks in the algorithm and the instruction set of NIOS-II processor has been extended. Deblockingfilter new instruction added to the processor that are implemented in hardware and interfaced to the NIOSII processor. New instruction added to the processor to boost the performance of the deblocking filteralgorithm. Use of custom instructions the implemented tasks have been accelerated by 5.88%. The benefit of the speed is obtained at the cost of very small hardware resources.
