Independent C14 dating was contrasted to chronological sequences based on "Paracas Pottery" series, evidencing the paradoxes, contradictions and incoherence in the relative chronologies derived from historico-cultural axioms. The conclusion addresses key aspects for a sociology of Ocucaje and Tajo ceramics, in the framework of the La Puntilla Project (Nasca, lea).

Creation of a Geo-Spatial Database to Analyse Railways in Europe (1830-2010). A Historical GIS Approach  [PDF]
Mateu Morillas-Torné
Journal of Geographic Information System (JGIS) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jgis.2012.42023
Abstract: The GIS is a tool that allows us to study the logic of the distribution of phenomena that occur on the Earth’s surface. In this article, we propose exploring its potential for historical research over long periods. Here, we present a Historical GIS (HGIS) of the railways of Europe for the period 1830-2010. This is a response to the need to carry out spatialtemporal analyses in order to evaluate the territorial impact of the railway and its influence on the distribution of population. The main objectives of this work are: to publicise the existence of this spatial database; to explain the approach followed in order to produce it; and to highlight some of the results that have already been achieved by using it. To date, the possibilities offered by HGIS have hardly been explored in research into the territorial impact of the railway. Similarly, until now, little work has been done in this area at the European scale. The most innovative aspects of this HGIS therefore lie in the methodology used and the subject treated.
Chiral Lagrangians with tensor sources
Mateu, Vicent
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2007, DOI: 10.1063/1.2823876
Abstract: The implementation of tensor sources in Chiral Lagrangians allows the computation of Green functions and form factors involving tensor currents, that is, quark bilinears of the form \bar{q}_i\sigma^{\mu\nu}q_j. Whereas only four new terms show up at O(p^4), we find around a hundred of them at O(p^6). So it becomes essential to ensure that this set o operators is indeed minimal and non-redundant (i.e., it is a basis). We discuss two phenomenological applications in the context of vector meson resonances and the radiative pion decay.
Tinautius exilis sp. n. (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Pterostochini) de la Alpujarra almeriense (SE Espa a)
Mateu, J.
Animal Biodiversity and Conservation , 2001,
Abstract: Tinatius exilis n. sp. (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Pterostochini) from the Alpujarra of Almería (SE Spain).-A new troglobitic species belonging to the genus Tinautius Mateu 1997, from the Sierra de Cazorla in the province of Jaen is described. This new species (T. exilis n. sp.) was found in the Alpujarra mountains in Almería. It is anophthalmous and differs from the anterior species in several morphological features. The female genitalia and the particular shape of the metatrochant enable simple differentiation with the two species of the genus Tinautius known to date.
RECOVERING FOSSIL RECORDS FROM GALAXY SPECTRA USING A 2D DYNAMICAL BASE
J. Mateu
Revista mexicana de astronomía y astrofísica , 2009,
Abstract: The study of stellar populations has gained importance in the last years thanks to the availability of high quality spectra of a considerable number of galaxies (for example the Sloan Digital Sky Survey - SDSS). Extracting the greater amount of information from these spectra has been the objective of many investigations. In general, these methods are based on the principle that the spectrum of a galaxy can be represented as a linear combination of the spectra of the populations that compose it, each one with its corresponding age and chemical composition. Nevertheless, the components of this linear combination, that is the spectra of the stellar population represented as a vector in a N-dimensional space (elements of the basis), are almost parallel in spite of being linearly independent and this, combined with the uncertainties of the observed spectra causes that di erent star formation histories reproduce the same observed spectrum. The amount of information that can be extracted will essentially depend on the signal to noise ratio and wavelength interval of the observed spectrum. Until now the algorithms to recover the star formation history from observed spectra use a static basis with a number of elements between 8 and 125. When increasing the number of basis elements it certainly improves the tting of the observed spectrum but also it increases the degeneration of the solution signi cantly, making very difficult the interpretation of the results. In this work we developed a new algorithm with a dynamical (not static) basis of only 2 elements which is used to recover both the coefficients of the linear combination and the age of the basis vectors. We made some simulations designed to test the algorithm obtaining excellent, high quality ttings with easy to interpret results and very well de ned uncertainties.
An Initial Assessment of the Philippines Preparedness for E-Learning
Arnie Trinidad
Kasarinlan : Philippine Journal of Third World Studies , 2002,
Abstract: Any attempt to institutionalize e-learning will prove futile without first attaining its vital requisites. An initial assessment of the Philippines’ e-learning stature both depicts a glooming and changing scenario. Three crucial domains need further reinvigoration: technology and infrastructure, educational standards and literacy, and government-private sector teamwork. Access to phone lines, computers and the internet cannot substitute to the greater need to develop the academic well-being of Filipino students. E-learning requires higher-order skills and analytical thinking. Raising the quality of training of teachers and students is a must to maximize the promises of Internet technology. The apparent lackluster performance of the Department of Education (DepEd) in providing the basic needs of primary and secondary high schools and the low standard of education seems to be steps backward to this end. Emphasis should be given on raising students’ English language proficiency and ‘digital fluency’. The public sector cannot carry the burden of forming an e-learning society alone. The government’s collaboration with the private sector in programs such as PREGINET, Fit-Ed programs and the ASTI- and PLDT-sponsored project testifies to this truth.

Revista Habanera de Ciencias M??dicas , 2011,
Abstract: in a scientific journey where an amblyopic child was exposed, it was shown as the attention of the child in an early age eradicated the anomaly. the present members considered necessary the divulgation of the importance of the ophthalmologic check in early ages. considering that claim, we present this article in which we intend make conscious the adults that are near to children of early age (since birth up to 4 years approximately) of the importance of the ophthalmologic check. the article includes an exposition about the development of visión in which we point out ophthalmological anomalies that may be evident in young children who, if diagnosed early, may be treated, the guidance on steps to follow once an anomaly is detected, and the care we have with our children in special schools of our country.
Importancia del chequeo oftalmológico en edades tempranas Importance of the ophthalmologic check in early ages
