Reconhecer os alunos para reinventar a escola: da afirma??o de uma necessidade aos equívocos de um desejo
Trindade, Rui;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022009000200004
Abstract: in this article, the portuguese modern school movement (mem) constitutes an object of theoretical reflection, its pertinence deriving from the need to reflect, by means of this movement, upon the goals, the demands and the meaning of educational and curricular mediation projects of all those who explicitly claim their praxological and conceptual separation from the field of instruction pedagogies. with such purpose in mind, we start by identifying the main principles in the field of pedagogies of learning by reading the works of some of the most emblematic pedagogues of the new education movement, and we proceed by contrasting them with the mem pedagogical legacy. as a result, in a first instance, we can expose the current areas of light and shadow crossed by educational, curricular and pedagogical discourses that allegedly belong to the field of pedagogies of learning, and secondly we can reflect upon the adjustments developed within mem in order to meet the objectives of an educational project characterized by recognizing students as mediators and producers of culture.

Transient cataract and hypermetropization in diabetes mellitus: case report
Trindade, Fernando;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27492007000600030
Abstract: a 13-year-old male patient with a recent history of hyperglycemia developed an acute bilateral posterior subcapsular cataract, consisting of fine feathery streak-like opacities. on examination, his uncorrected visual acuity was 20/50 and j4 at near in both eyes. under cycloplegia, a moderate hypermetropic refraction was noted in both eyes. he was diagnosed with acute posterior subcapsular cataract secondary to diabetes mellitus. two weeks after resolution of the hyperglycemic state, the bilateral feathery streak-like posterior subcapsular opacities regressed completely, hypermetropic refraction decreased and uncorrected visual acuity improved to 20/20 and j1 in both eyes.
A incorpora??o de novas tecnologias nos servi?os de saúde: o desafio da análise dos fatores em jogo
Trindade, Evelinda;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2008000500002
Abstract: the exponential increase in the incorporation of health technologies has been considered a key factor in increased expenditures by the health sector. such decisions involve multiple levels and stakeholders. decentralization has multiplied the decision-making levels, with numerous difficult choices and limited resources. the interrelationship between stakeholders is complex, in creative systems with multiple determinants and confounders. the current review discusses the interaction between the factors influencing the decisions to incorporate technologies by health services, and proposes a structure for their analysis. the application and intensity of these factors in decision-making and the incorporation of products and programs by health services shapes the installed capacity of local and regional networks and modifies the health system. empirical observation of decision-making and technology incorporation in brazilian health services poses an important challenge. the structured recognition and measurement of these variables can assist proactive planning of health services.
Escolaridade básica e cidadania: contributo para um debate que se quer mais urgente que apressado
Rui Trindade
Revista Portuguesa de Educa??o , 2000,
Abstract: In this article we start to discuss the meanings of the dissertations that have been made about the relationship between comprehensive school, education and citizenship, comparing the political guidelines that legitimate them, the conceptual dilemmas that cross them and their eventual educative implications. In the meanings of such reflection, it refuses to understand the education for citizenship as the pretext for the creation of specific curricular areas, defending that the concreteness of such project depends of the democratisation and the quality of the educational offer at the comprehensive school.
Some observations on the otter population in the Homen catchment (N.W. Portugal)
Trindade A.
IUCN Otter Specialist Group Bulletin , 1990,
Abstract: It has always been assumed that the otter population was good in Peneda-Geres National Park in northern Portugal. This study examined the River Homem catchment in detail, and found that the population was less good than expected, and isolated from other otters by the reservoir of the Vilarinho das Furnas dam. The authors consider that the current dam-building policy is not conducive to the conservation of otters.
Monitoring Lutra lutra Habitats in Portugal: a Conceptual Plan
Anabela Trindade
IUCN Otter Specialist Group Bulletin , 1994,
Abstract: The Eurasian otter is widespread in Portugal but their range may be reducing. Its survival depends on protecting its habitat. A method for monitoring the quality of otter habitat by regularly assessing certain habitat descriptors is proposed. If carried out over several years in the same conditions, this would enable habitat quality changes to be assessed.
Fish Farming and Otters in Portugal
Trindade A.
IUCN Otter Specialist Group Bulletin , 1991,
Abstract: In Portugal fish farming has expanded very rapidly in the last decade, with trout, mullet, cuttlefish, seabream, eel, salmon and prawns being intensively reared in artificial ponds. A questionnaire was sent to all known fish farmers to assess the effect of predation, especially by otters; no compensation scheme exists in Portugal. This paper discusses the results of this exercise. It is suggested that fish farmers need to look beyond economic and technological aspects of aquaculture and consider the wider environmental impact of their activities.

Melanoma metastasis to the spleen: Laparoscopic approach
Trindade Manoel Roberto,Blaya Rodrigo,Trindade Eduardo
Journal of Minimal Access Surgery , 2009,
Abstract: We report a case of minimally invasive surgery in the management of metastasis to the spleen. A 67-year-old male patient with possible splenic soft tissue melanoma metastasis was referred to our hospital. He had a history of an excised soft tissue melanoma from his back eight months earlier, and the control abdominal computer tomography (CT) scan revealed a hypodense spleen lesion. The patient underwent laparoscopic surgery to diagnose and treat the splenic lesion. The splenectomy was performed and the histological examination revealed a melanoma. The patient had a good postoperative course and was discharged on the second postoperative day. On his 12-month follow-up there was no sign of recurrence. The laparoscopic approach is a safe and effective alternative for treatment of splenic metastases.
