Abstract: To participate in the subject Gender Perspective which is developed as an introductory course in the Master s program in Integral Development of Women, allows recognizing gender bias in different scenarios. Evidence is the limited use of language with a gender perspective in the structure of the university pedagogical discourse. For these reasons, it is essential a curriculum both inclusive and sensitive to differences. This article suggests the universities assess the gender discrimination in their curricula, and in particular the Programs at the Faculty of Health Science at the Universidad Centroccidental “Lisandro Alvarado” to be forward in the conscious and natural use of inclusive language, with the purpose and effect from the academy, the vocational training as coexistence, in and out the classroom, it has more university environments increasingly fair, supportive, respectful of differences and, therefore, prone to tolerance and equity.

Abstract: In order to educate both in moral and values to university students in regards to Health Sciences, a course was designed and implemented to train professors belonging to Medicine and Nursing undergraduate programs of a Venezuelan public university (UCLA).A qualitative evaluation study was carried out with the aim of evaluating the course. The course program included basic concepts, models of moral education and values (EMV),emphasizing the Construction model of the Moral Personality, the role of the teacher, educational strategies, instructional design for the EMV and learning assessment. The coursewas anonymously evaluated by 82 participants through an instrument of 6 open questions regarding: usefulness and relevance of the topics and resources used, educational strategies used, key learning and recommendations. The majority of participants expressed that thetopics were very useful and relevant to their teaching activities; they almost unanimously considered materials very useful. Among the main learning they highlighted the EMV models, academic work and personal re ection, moral dilemmas and the basic concepts.Professors expressed recommendations about time spent on the course, theory and practice content relationship, continuity, and expectations about the courses, curriculum changes development, strategies for each subject, continuous education on EMV and participants work follow-up. In conclusion, the course was valued positively; it promoted re ection on the exercised values internally, professionally and academically. Standpoints allowed knowing the course strengths and weaknesses to eventually adjust it to the needs of the deanship.

Case report: A 56-year-old woman with a right optic nerve sheath meningioma and visual loss, was treated with fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy. This resulted in an almost complete recovery of her visual acuity. Discussion: Currently there are many different alternatives available for the management of an optic nerve sheath meningioma: observation, surgery, conventional radiotherapy and fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy. Hablando con los descendientes, de Carmen de Burgos
Torres González, Bego?a
Arbor : Ciencia, Pensamiento y Cultura , 2010, DOI: 10.3989/arbor.2010.extrajunion3019
Abstract: Hablando con los descendientes (Talking to descendants) is a compendium of interviews made to the descendants of the most outstanding artists –especially– the ones in the Romantic period. It is related to the customs articles and the journalistic report. In this compilation, Colombine is usually capable to see the general facts although she felt overwhelmed by the particular details that’s why so many times she lost her way and quibble and focussed on the mere anecdotes of the stars’ life. She carried out the categorization of the characters and like in Mesonero’s, the ways of living are much more important than the ways of being. Touched by the positivism and the rationalism the author defended the importance of each man’s own vital experience. She had felt fascinated by the material progress in the modern society anyway she seemed to glimpse the need to give this project an alternative lead by the virtue. We find a humanistic idealism of moral codes “hobnobbing” the past tradition as this one is considered a valid option in order to form the new standards in the present time.
Development and Application of a Modified Genetic Algorithm for Estimating Parameters in GMA Models  [PDF]

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.516236
Abstract:

In this work we introduce a modified version of the simple genetic algorithm (MGA) and will show the results of its application to two GMA power law models (a general theoretical branched pathway system and a mathematical model of the amplification and responsiveness of the JAK2/STAT5 pathway representing an actual, experimentally studied system). The two case studies serve to illustrate the utility and potentialities of the MGA method for concerning parameter estimation in complex models of biological significance. The analysis of the results obtained from the application of the MGA algorithm allows an evaluation of the potentialities and shortcomings of the proposed algorithm when compared with other parameter estimation algorithm such as the simple genetic algorithm (SGA) and the simulated annealing (SA). MGA shows better performance in both studied cases than SGA and SA, either in the presence or absence of noise. It is suggested that these advantages are due to the fact that the objective function definition in the MGA could include the experimental error as a weight factor, thus minimizing the distance between the data and the predicted value. Actually, MGA is slightly slower that the SGA and the SA, but this limitation is compensated by its greater efficiency in finding objective values closer to the global optimum. Finally, MGA can lead to an early local optimum, but this shortcoming may be prevented by providing a great population diversity through the insertion of different selection processes.

Clinical case: A fair-skinned woman presented marked striate melanokeratosis in her left eye related to recurrent corneal erosion. The source of pigmentation was a conjunctival melanosis. The conjunctival melanosis responded to treatment with topical mitomycin, while the corneal pigmentation persisted. Discussion: Striate melanokeratosis is a condition described in dark-skinned patients who show a well-defined pigmentation of the limbal area, with only one case of striate melanokeratosis reported previously in a Caucasian person. The stimuli for this proliferation are corneal lesions or melanosis close to the limbus. Avoiding both stimuli are the main steps in its management.

Abstract: this research reports how to transform information into knowledge. this study was supported by the system general theory, the autophoiesis, the mediation and the accommodation - adaptation theory. among the proposed objectives there are: to establish the character of the dynamic intellectual products (dip) of a doctoral thesis considering the mental energy mobilized by its author; to identify the processes of thought activated during the elaboration of a doctoral thesis, assumed as specific instance of a dip; to characterize the mental effort made during the elaboration of a doctoral thesis; and to generate an interpretative model of the complete process for the production of knowledge. the study constituted an interpretative-descriptive systemic investigation, with a study design of multiple qualitative cases. the information was obtained through interviews, content analysis and stimulated recollection sessions. the information was analyzed and interpreted through quantitative and qualitative processes, conjunctively using the continuous comparative method and the processes of crossed control. the findings revealed that during the production of knowledge the information must be metabolized, which implies interaction with the exomemory, operating cognitively with referential images, working mentally immersed through the thematic in company of an expert, making his or hers the words of others. as the main contribution, a dynamic model is proposed in order to interpret the knowledge production process.
