Hergé, Extrême-Orient et bande dessinée
Jean-Pierre BOUDINEAU
Mappemonde , 1992,
Tintín a Catalunya [Tintin in Catalonia]
Soldevilla Albertí, Joan Manuel
Zeitschrift für Katalanistik , 2012,
Abstract: This article offers a perspective of the different stages which marked the arrival of "The Adventures of Tintin", a series that has been widely popular and highly influential in the Catalan-speaking areas. We will first illustrate the importance of Hergé’s work in the context of the 20th century media and will continue with an account of how this comic reached our nation. The essay analyzes the implementation strategies in the book market, describes how the series consolidated its position, how it eventually managed to become a modern icon in the 1980s and how the new century has witnessed a rebirth of people’s interest in Hergé’s work.
Mit Tintín auf Schatzsuche: Anmerkungen zu den katalanischen Versionen von "Le trésor de Rackham le Rouge" [Hunting for treasures with Tintin: Remarks on the Catalan versions of "Le trésor de Rackham le Rouge"]
Pusch, Claus D.
Zeitschrift für Katalanistik , 2012,
Abstract: This paper is devoted to the inter- and intra-linguistic comparison of comics on the basis of the volume "Le trésor de Rackham le Rouge" (engl. "Red Rackham’s Treasure") of the Franco-Belgian Tintin series and its two Catalan versions published in 1964 and 2002, respectively. These versions are analyzed with respect to morpho-syntactic (forms of address, clitic pronoun combinations, clause-initial "que" and future-oriented temporal adverbial clauses introduced by "quan") and lexical criteria (technical vocabulary). The study reveals that the models for the reference variety applied by the translators diverge and that the translations reflect, to a certain extent, the sociolinguistic situation of Catalan at the moment of their creation.
The construction of national and foreign identities in French and Belgian postwar comics (1939-1970)
Pascal Lefèvre
Comicalités : études de Culture Graphique , 2012, DOI: 10.4000/comicalites.875
Abstract: The second World War had various repercussions in the comics produced in the 25 years after the Liberation in France and Belgium: one remarkable consequence was the construction, in comics as La Bête est morte ! and Astérix, of a fictive French ethnicity which was eagerly contrasted to the stereotype of the militaristic Prussian. Despite a few comics demonstrated the positive effects of reconciliation with former enemies or of European cooperation, most comics rather clung to older stereotypes of other European people. These popular culture products offered a particular - but not always consistent - view on national identities in the post-war period
