Channel Error Estimation Methods Comparison under Different Conditions for Multichannel HRWS SAR Systems  [PDF]

Multichannel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) in azimuth can resolve the contradiction between high resolution and wide swath faced with traditional SAR imaging. However, channel errors will degrade the performance of imaging. This paper compares the performances of four channel error estimation algorithms under different clutter distributions and SNR conditions. Further, explanations are given for performance differences of the four algorithms, which provide evidence for method selection in engineering applications.

Preparation and Characterization of TiO2 Photocatalytic Thin Film and Its Compounds by Micro-Arc Oxidation Technique  [PDF]

Mesoporous TiO2 ceramic films have been prepared upon the Ti alloy substrate by the micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technology. To enhance the photo-catalytic property of the films, Eu2O3 particles were added into the electrolyte solution of Na2CO3/Na2SiO3. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) are employed to characterize the modified films. Diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) test, photo-generated current test and photo decomposition test are applied to evaluate the photo-catalytic property of the modified films. The results show that Eu2O3 transformed into one-dimensional (1-D) nano-wires embedded within the composite film, and the film has high photo-catalytic property.


Mathematical framework for multi-frequency identification of thin insulating and small conductive inhomogeneities

Abstract: We are aiming to identify the thin insulating inhomogeneities and small conductive inhomogeneities inside an electrically conducting medium by using multi-frequency electrical impedance tomography (mfEIT). The thin insulating inhomogeneities are considered in the form of tubular neighborhood of a curve and small conductive inhomogeneities are regarded as circular disks. Taking advantage of the frequency dependent behavior of insulating objects, we give a rigorous derivation of the potential along thin insulating objects at various frequencies. Asymptotic formula is given to analyze relationship between inhomogeneities and boundary potential at different frequencies. In numerical simulations, spectroscopic images are provided to visualize the reconstructed admittivity at various frequencies. For the view of both kinds of inhomogeneities, an integrated reconstructed image based on principle component analysis (PCA) is provided. Phantom experiments are performed by using Swisstom EIT-Pioneer Set.
Internal Control, Life Cycle and Earnings Quality —An Empirical Analysis from Chinese Market  [PDF]

Abstract: Whether internal controls can effectively constrain earnings management, which is a hot topic in recent years. I investigate the impact of internal control on earnings quality based on a life cycle perspective using data of listed companies of China’s market from 2010-2013. The empirical findings indicate that high quality internal control can suppress accrual earnings management and real earnings management (except for discretionary expenses manipulating earnings management) effectively, whilst in different life cycle stages (LCSs), the relation between internal control quality and accounting earnings quality (accrual quality and real earnings quality) is different. For the accrual quality aspect, in mature LCS, internal control quality and accrual quality is positively correlated. In growth or decline LCS, the relation between internal quality and accrual quality is not significant. For the real earnings quality aspect, in decline LCS, high quality internal control can improve real earnings quality; in growth LCS or mature LCS, the relation is just the opposite.

Abstract: Knowledge is the organization’s most important strategic resource that can provide organizations with a sustainable competitive advantage; at the same time, knowledge management depends on knowledge sharing. Knowledge sharing is affected by multi-level factors: Organizational level, team level and individual level factors; some will promote knowledge sharing, and some will have a negative impact. Therefore, this paper reviews the concepts of knowledge sharing and the related factors that affect knowledge sharing. Finally, this paper proposes future research directions about knowledge sharing.
Identification of rat lung – prominent genes by a parallel DNA microarray hybridization

Abstract: We identified the genes prominently expressed in the lung (147) or co-expressed in lung-heart (23), lung-liver (37), lung-spleen (203), and lung-kidney (98). The known functions of the lung-prominent genes mainly fell into 5 categories: ligand binding, signal transducer, cell communication, development, and metabolism. Real-time PCR confirmed 13 lung-prominent genes, including 5 genes that have not been investigated in the lung, vitamin D-dependent calcium binding protein (Calb3), mitogen activated protein kinase 13 (Mapk13), solute carrier family 29 transporters, member 1 (Slc29a1), corticotropin releasing hormone receptor (Crhr1), and lipocalin 2 (Lcn2).The lung-prominent genes identified in this study may provide an important clue for further investigation of pulmonary functions.With the completion of genome projects of human and other model species, functional studies on a genomic scale are coming to a frontier. The investigation of transcriptome reveals gene expression of organs and cells from normal and diseased animals and humans. By comparing transcriptomes of multiple organs, physiological functions in different organs can be further explored. Identifying the genes expressed prominently in the lung may reveal its unique physiological functions in the respiratory system.The expression of some individual genes in the lung and other organs may be found in literature and public databases. In literature, newly discovered genes have been tested in various organs at the mRNA level with Northern blotting and RT-PCR and at the protein level with Western blotting. In public databases, gene expression are compiled from literature, cDNA library (e.g. UniGene) and high throughput tools such as serial analysis gene expression (SAGE) and DNA microarray (e.g., GEO) [1]. The Availability of Logical Operation Induced by Dichotomous Noise for a Nonlinear Bistable System

Abstract: Instead of a continuous system driven by Gaussian white noise, logical stochastic resonance will be investigated in a nonlinear bistable system with two thresholds driven by dichotomous noise, which shows a phenomenon different from Gaussian white noise. We can realize two parallel logical operations by simply adjusting the values of these two thresholds. Besides, to quantify the reliability of obtaining the correct logic output, we numerically calculate the success probability, and effects of dichotomous noise on the success probability are observed, these observations show that the reliability of realizing logical operation in the bistable system can be improved through optimizing parameters of dichotomous noise.
Electrical impedance spectroscopy-based nondestructive testing for imaging defects in concrete structures

Abstract: An electrical impedance spectroscopy-based nondestructive testing (NDT) method is proposed to image both cracks and reinforcing bars in concrete structures. The method utilizes the frequency-dependent behavior of thin insulating cracks: low-frequency electrical currents are blocked by insulating cracks, whereas high-frequency currents can pass through the conducting bars without being blocked by thin cracks. Rigorous mathematical analysis relates the geometric structures of the cracks and bars to the frequency-dependent Neumann-to-Dirichlet data. Various numerical simulations support the feasibility of the proposed method.
Expression of Acetaldehyde Dehydrogenase in Gefitinib-resistant Human Lung Adenocarcinoma HCC-827/GR Cells

Abstract: Background and objective Tumor recurrence and drug resistance are the main causes of death in tumor patients. The family of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) is closely related to the proliferation, migration, invasion and resistance of tumor cells, and different ALDH subtypes are expressed in different tumor cells. The aim of this study is to elucidate the ALDH subtype in human lung adenocarcinoma HCC-827/GR cells, which resistant to the gefitinib. Methods The human lung adenocarcinoma HCC-827 cells were used to generate the gefitinib-resistant HCC-827/GR cells; the expression of ALDH subtype in either HCC-827 or HCC-827/GR was detected by flow cytometry; The proliferative capacity and sensitivity to gefitinib of hcc-827/GR cells were analyzed by MTT assay before and after treatment with 100 μmol/L diethyllaminaldehyde (DEAB); Real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of ALDH subtypes at mRNA levels in hcc-827 cells and hcc-827/GR cells. Results Compared with HCC-827 cells, the positive rate of ALDH in HCC-827/GR cells increased. The proliferation ability of HCC-827/GR cells decreased after treatment with 100 μmol/L DEAB. Compared with HCC-827 cells, the expression of ALDH1A1 and ALDH1L1 mRNA was increased in hcc-827/GR cells, but the ALDH3B2 expression was decreased. Conclusion ALDH might be used as a molecular biomarker to test the gefitinib-resistant to lung adenocarcinoma cancer cells, and the ALDH1A1 may play a role in gefitinib resistance in lung cancer. ?

Abstract: Closed form expressions for the PDF and MGF of the harmonic mean of two independent exponential variates are cited and derived, and then applied to study the performance of cellular multi-node and dual-hop cooperative communication systems with non-regenerative relays over flat Rayleigh fading channels. We derive the probability density function (PDF) and asymptotic symbol error rate (SER) expression with MRC scheme. Then we use Matlab to simulate the performance.
