A Functional Driver Analyzing Concept
Tobias Islinger,Thorsten Khler,Christian Wolff
Advances in Human-Computer Interaction , 2011, DOI: 10.1155/2011/413964
Abstract: It is evident that a lot of accidents occur because of drowsiness or inattentiveness of the driver. The logical consequence is that we have to find methods to better analyze the driver. A lot of research has been spent on camera-based systems which focus on the driver's eye gaze or his head movement. But there are few systems that provide camera-free driver analyzing. This is the main goal of the work presented here which is structured in three phases, with the operational goal of having a working driver analyzer implemented in a car. The main question is: is it possible to make statements concerning the driver and his state by using vehicle data from the CAN Bus only? This paper describes the current state of driver analyzing, our overall system architecture, as well as future work. At the moment, we focus on detecting the driving style of a person. 1. Introduction Driver analysis (DA) has been an active field of research for years. For example, [1] published an article about driver monitoring already in 2005. Among others, DA can be divided in the following subtopics: driver monitoring, driving style analysis, and merging vehicle data to derive conclusions concerning the driver (The word driver means both, female as well as male drivers. This is also relevant for words like “his” or “him” which reflect also both, female as well as male persons.) and his environment. For our research work, we focus on the following aspects. (i)How can the state of the driver be detected without using a camera or realtime biosensor data like a electrocardiogram (ecd)? (ii)How can we support the driver, depending on his actual driving situation, based on the results of the driver state detection? Driver monitoring is usually performed by cameras installed in the car for detecting the driver's behavior or state, mostly by using infrared cameras ([2, 3], or [1]). There are also first results for noncamera based research on driver analysis: By analyzing analog speed graphs, Rygula [4] makes conclusions about the driving style, speed profile and, depending on driving time and course, aggressiveness of the driver. Therefore, he evaluated ten analog speed graphs for two drivers by comparing their speed profile, their profile referring to the distance, or referring to route and direction. Rygula states that “Even a brake of 45 minutes reduce aggressivity of driving style” ([4, page 79]). A different approach is the research on context recognition in vehicles and the development of a driver model. Ferscha and Riener [5] describe this process of in-car context recognition and
Few-body approach to diffraction of small helium clusters by nanostructures

BMC Health Services Research , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/1472-6963-9-81
Abstract: The results of this study are based upon questionnaires sent by mail to 454 physicians working in the field of patient care in 4 different German hospitals in 2002. 277 clinicians responded to the poll, for a response rate of 61%. Analysis was performed using three linear regression models with physician overall job satisfaction as the dependent variable and age, gender, professional experience, workload, and social capital as independent variables. The first regression model explained nearly 9% of the variance of job satisfaction. Whereas job satisfaction increased slightly with age, gender and professional experience were not identified as significant factors to explain the variance. Setting up a second model with the addition of subjectively-perceived workload to the analysis, the explained variance increased to 18% and job satisfaction decreased significantly with increasing workload. The third model including social capital in hospital explained 36% of the variance with social capital, professional experience and workload as significant factors. This analysis demonstrated that the social capital of an organisation, in addition to professional experience and workload, represents a significant predictor of overall job satisfaction of physicians working in the field of patient care. Trust, mutual understanding, shared aims, and ethical values are qualities of social capital that unify members of social networks and communities and enable them to act cooperatively.National and international studies in recent years have revealed that a significant number of physicians working in the field of patient care are not satisfied with their job and the associated working conditions [1-3]. A survey conducted in the US, for example, demonstrated this dissatisfaction in revealing that up to 40% of the physicians practicing in hospitals would not take up this profession again. Even a higher portion of the questioned physicians stated that they prevented their children from becomi
Discursos ceremoniales tzotziles: una joya poco estudiada
Khler, Ulrich;
Estudios de cultura maya , 2009,
Abstract: apart from verbal interchange in daily life and prayers directed to the gods there is another principal form of verbal expression among the tzotzil -and probably among the majority of maya peoples: ceremonial discourses. with the prayers they have in common a strict poetic form, but in contrast to them they are not sung. there exist both private and official ceremonial discourses. the latter are principally blessings for incoming new cargoholders and verbal exchange between different officials who organize a religious feast. of these official discourses several examples are presented, showing both their content and their poetic form of expression with many metaphors.

Neue Techniken zur Therapie der Varikose
B?hler K
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension as a cause of dyspnoea in an older patient with a complex history
C. M. Khler
European Respiratory Review , 2009,
Abstract: A full diagnostic work-up for patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) is vital. Classification and diagnosis of the underlying cause is important to ensure optimal management, but may be complicated by overlapping signs and symptoms. This case study describes how a full work-up identified chronic thromboembolic PH (CTEPH) as the cause of dyspnoea in a 68-yr-old male with a history of pulmonary embolism and an original diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Key indicators included decreased tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion, increased Tei index and elevated systolic pulmonary artery pressure. Multi-slice spiral chest computed tomography and pulmonary angiography showed severe chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease, both centrally and distally. Diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide was reduced and blood gas analysis revealed a wide alveolar–arterial oxygen pressure difference, which is typical of CTEPH. The patient was eligible for pulmonary endarterectomy according to established criteria. Residual PH after surgery was successfully managed with bosentan.
The German IVF-Registry D·I·R

Journal für Reproduktionsmedizin und Endokrinologie , 2013,
Abstract: Systematic data collection in the field of assisted reproductive techniques is performed in Germany since 30 years. Since 1997, data collection is performed electronically and in a prospective way. In 1998, by a code of the German Medical Association participation at the registry has become mandatory for all IVF centres in Germany. Different software solutions can be used in the centres for data collection. All of them have to cooperate with a special DIRmod-DLL , controlling online plausibility and prospectivity of the collected data. More than one million treatment cycles have been reported in the annuals published since 1996 up to 2010. All in all 1.2 millions cycles are included in the registry. Clinical pregnancy rate increased continuously and miscarriage rate decreased. By reduction of the mean number of transferred embryos of about 20% the percentage of born triplets in relationship to all children born after ART decreased of about 80%. It can be shown with the huge number of documented cycles that political decisions exert a dominating influence on treatment and drug choice. The German IVF registry has been established over the last 30 years as an instrument of quality assurance and has experienced highest regard by colleagues and by the international scientific world.
