Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2013,
Sexualidade e educa??o sexual na percep??o docente

Educar em Revista , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-40602012000100014
Abstract: this article aimed to know the perception of sexuality and sex education of teachers of the elementary and secondary education of a public school in juazeiro do norte-ce, brazil. we developed a descriptive study with qualitative approach carried out from september 2009 to february 2010 with seven teachers, through observation and semi-structured interview, with the following questions: what is sexuality for you? what do you understand by sex education? data were organized into five categories and analyzed in an interpretive way. the concept of sexuality was divided into two categories: gender and sexual orientation. besides the physical aspects, there were spiritual and expression elements of love among humans, although these were secondary to genital attributes and sexual intercourse, surrounded by nature character. sex education was based on three themes: sexual intercourse, body physiology and social behavior, constituting an important issue to be worked from the fourth or fifth year of elementary school, where science classes are listed as the most appropriate space to address the issue. the teaching profession needs constant renewal, being necessary to overcome the biomedical/scientific model in sexuality, considering its historical, social and cultural dimensions, where cross-sectional actions should be a goal to be achieved in several fields of knowledge.

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.515232
Abstract:

This paper provides an intuitive introduction to cluster analysis. Our targeting audience are both scholars and students in Political Science. Methodologically, we use basic simulation to illustrate the underlying logic of cluster analysis and we replicate data from Coppedge, Alvarez and Maldonado (2008) [1] to classify political regimes according to Dahl’s (1971) [2] polyarchy dimensions: contestation and inclusiveness. With this paper, we hope to help novice scholars to understand and employ cluster analysis in Political Science empirical research.

Indicator Kriging Applied to Lithotypes of the Ni-Cu Deposit located in Americano do Brasil, GO

Geologia USP : Série Científica , 2011,
Abstract: This work presents the geological model which was developed from lithology estimation using indicator kriging. The database used in this study contains samples from bore holes drilled in the Americano do Brasil deposit, GO, which is composed of a mafic-ultramafic suite of rocks associated with nickel-copper sulphide mineralization. The considered variable is the lithology description, which contains categorical and qualitative information. The estimated geologicalmodel is useful for the comprehension of the geometric and stratigrafic relationships between the rock bodies. Our studysuggests that the indicator kriging can be a valuable tool for evaluation studies of mineral deposits.

Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (ACS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/acs.2013.33037
Abstract:

The present study evaluates the performance of three numerical weather forecasting models: Global Forecast System (GFS), Brazilian Regional Atmospheric Modelling System (BRAMS) and ETA Regional Model (ETA), by means of the Mean Error (ME) and the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), during the most rainy four months period (January to April 2012) on Eastern Amazonia. The models displayed errors of superestimation and underestimation with respect to the observed precipitation, mainly over center-north of Pará and all of Amapá, where the precipitation is higher. Among the analyzed models, GFS shows the best performance, except during January and March, when the model to underestimated precipitation, possibly due to the anomalously high values recorded.

Abstract: Surface colonization is an essential step in biofilm development. The ability of oral pathogens to adhere to tooth surfaces is directly linked with the presence of specific molecules at the bacterial surface that can interact with enamel acquired pellicle ligands. In light of this, the aim of this study was to verify inhibitory and antibiofilm action of lectins from the Diocleinaesubtribe against Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus oralis. The inhibitory action against planctonic cells was assessed using lectins from Canavaliaensi formis (ConA), Canavalia brasiliensis (ConBr), Canavalia maritima (ConM), Canavalia gladiata (CGL) and Canavalia boliviana (ConBol). ConBol, ConBr and ConM showed inhibitory activity on S. mutans growth. All lectins, except ConA, stimulated significantly the growth of S. oralis. To evaluate the effect on biofilm formation, clarified saliva was added to 96-well, flat-bottomed polystyrene plates, followed by the addition of solutions containing 100 or 200 μg/mL of the selected lectins. ConBol, ConM and ConA inhibited the S. mutans biofilms. No effects were found on S. oralis biofilms. Structure/function analysis were carried out using bioinformatics tools. The aperture and deepness of the CRD (Carbohydrate Recognition Domain) permit us to distinguish the two groups of Canavalia lectins in accordance to their actions against S. mutans and S. oralis. The results found provide a basis for encouraging the use of plant lectins as biotechnological tools in ecological control and prevention of caries disease.

Abstract: the visceral system (liver and portal-drained viscera) represents an interface between diet and the animal, and it acts as the main site of regulation of nutrients that are used for maintenance, growth, lactation, reproduction, and physical activities of animals. however the functions carried out by visceral organs have, however, a significant energetic cost and are influenced by a variety of factors, such as the level of feed intake and diet composition, among others. as a result, variable quantities of substances are metabolized by them and, thus, the pattern and the quantity of nutrients available to the peripheral tissues can be quite different from those absorbed at the intestinal lumen. probably, the major source of variation in the efficiency of utilization of metabolizable energy among feeds is associated mainly with visceral metabolism and it is unlikely that the ratio ketogenic/glucogenic of absorbed substances has determinant effect under physiological conditions.

Costa,Elenice; Romani,Sylvia de Azevedo Mello; Batista Filho,Malaquias; Rocha,Ana Neire da;
Revista de Saúde Pública , 1981, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-89101981000200006
Abstract: in order to compare the prevalence of pcm in four localities and to contribute to the nosographic mapping of malnutrition in the state of pernambuco (brazil) the nutritional intake of about 1,712 children under 6 years of age, living in recife (coastal area), ferreiros (forest area), brejo da madre de deus (arid area), and afogados da ingazeira (scrubland), was classified; for this the following methods were used: the gomez, the ariza-macias, and the seoane-lathan (modified). according to the gomez classification and from a statistical point of view, the prevalence of malnutrition was higher in the countryside than in recife. the weight/height ratio does not clearly show the situation in three of the communities under study. moreover, the modified seoane-lathan method revealed no significant difference in the three types of malnutrition (recent, chronic, and past) between recife and the other cities, with the exception of brejo da madre de deus.
