Abstract: introduction: the patellofemoral syndrome (dfp) is a disease characterized by pain in the patellofemoral and physical changes resulting from this joint biomechanics. the rate of incidence is high, representing a common complaint in about 20% of the population. its etiology remains unknown. objective: this literature review aims to compare the effectiveness of open kinetic chain exercises with closed kinetic chain into the functional recovery of patients with the patellofemoral syndrome. methods: we conducted a systematic review in the database lilacs, medline, pubmed and scielo as search term words patellofemoral syndrome, open kinetic chain and closed kinetic chain. discussion: the imbalance of forces of the dynamic stabilizers of the patella, vastus medialis oblique (vmo) and vastus lateralis (vl), is still considered the primary factor for the onset of symptoms. since this change causes an increase in reaction force and patellofemoral compression. in order to recover the balance of forces of the muscles acting as stabilizers of the knee and as a means of restoring stability to the joint, exercises in open kinetic chain (okc) and closed kinetic chain (ckc) has been used in rehabilitation programs patellofemoral disorders. conclusion: the benefits for implementing these protocols are not well documented, lacking scientific evidence to prove the real effectiveness of these exercises in improving the performance of the quadriceps muscle or assist in muscle balance of the dynamic stabilizers of the patella.

Sociology Mind (SM) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/sm.2011.14029
Abstract: Marian devotion and rituals have been the apex of Christian believers’ journey for centuries. In spite of its importance in many disciplines, Marian devotion and rituals in Israel have been neglected. In this article I will outline several social and religious aspects of Marian devotion in the Greek-Orthodox community in Israel. Using several case-studies of Marian devotion around the world I will address the question is Mary a national symbol in Israel? Since one of the most important Marian devotion sites is located in Israel and centered in Mary’s place of ascension in Gethsemane, addressing this site directly is crucial. I will express a new concept more fitting to the Israeli case—Mary as an a-national symbol. This research is based upon a combination of two main methodologies: participant observations and in-depth interviews with believers (local Greek and Palestinian residents as well as pilgrims) and clergymen. The research focuses on a procession taking place in the Old City of Jerusalem in the end of August, celebrating Mary’s legacy and resurrection.

World Journal of Gastroenterology , 2013, DOI: 10.3748/wjg.v19.i12.1919
Abstract: AIM: To describe the histology of the digestive tract and to investigate the occurrence of endocrine cells in Oligosarcus hepsetus (O. hepsetus). METHODS: The digestive tract (DT) of O. hepsetus was divided into esophagus, two stomach regions (glandular and non-glandular) and two intestinal regions (anterior and posterior). These specimens were processed by routine histological techniques and stained with hematoxylin-eosin, Gomori’s trichrome, periodic acid Schiff (PAS) and Alcian blue (AB). An immunohistochemical method using avidin-biotin-peroxidase was employed. RESULTS: The esophagus is lined with a non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium that is reactive to PAS and AB. The stomach has a mucosa lined with a simple columnar epithelium with mucus-secreting cells that are reactive only to PAS. The intestine has a simple columnar epithelium with a brush border and goblet cells that are reactive to PAS and AB. Somatostatin, serotonin and cholecystokinin immunoreactive cells were identified throughout the DT. CONCLUSION: This study revealed adaptations for the species’ diet and showed that the distribution and relative frequency of immunoreactive cells are similar to those of other fish.
Oscillation of Davydov Solitons in Three Wells  [PDF]

Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2016.713161
Abstract: In this work, we propose a model of oscillation of Davydov solitons in three wells. It can be used as a mathematical and physical frame in simulation of circle of some nonlinear oscillation of excitations via acupuncture system. The calculation shows that this sort of oscillation is possible if the initial rate of average occupational number of the quasi-particles in the wells is not equal to zero. One of oscillations arising relies on the initial rate of average occupational number of quasi-particles to be equal with each other within three wells. Then, the oscillation is not a kind of Josephson oscillation and has complicated frequency distributions. However, the total behavior of oscillation played is similar to three big solitons concentrated in three wells. In this sense, this model generally reveals a sort of oscillation mechanism of the acupuncture system how to work in the body, which allows us to understand the oscillation that may be one of fundamental natures in the acupuncture system.

Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2017.83020
Abstract: In this work, we try to build a model to describe the condensation through the couple of bio-solitons in a well based on the BCS theory extended by the nonlinear operator, which can be used to simulate the created process of the internal elixir in the middle of the abdomen of the human body. The goal of this work is to provide a mechanism to explain the effect of stored bio-energy in the bio-systems.
