Anuário do Instituto de Geociências , 1998,
Abstract: The diffusion of modern technology has changed the world of social relationships, in which interactions were once limited by one’s surroundings, a space caracterized above all by physical continuity. Until the last century, the conception of space strongly linked with physical distance of routes has prevailed, imposing local boundaries for the use of space by human action. The experience of circulation in a space built by remote and well connected points, enables social relationships to be established in an environment characterized for the most part by physical discontinuity. This paper analyses the complex and well developed urban network of S o Paulo State, considering two components: the interurban bus flows, whose materiality incorporates the cost of physical distance in terms of time; and the telephone flows, which with its instantaneous conection allows the potential interaction among all the cities independently of the physical distance among them.
Human pluripotent embryonal carcinoma NTERA2 cl.D1 cells maintain their typical morphology in an angiomyogenic medium

Journal of Negative Results in BioMedicine , 2007, DOI: 10.1186/1477-5751-6-5
Abstract: Our experiments showed that NT2/D1 maintains their typical actin organization in angiomyogenic medium. Although the beta myosin heavy chain gene was never detected, all the other 15 genes analyzed maintained their expression throughout the time course of the experiment. Among them were early and late cardiac, endothelial, neuronal and teratocarcinoma genes. Our results suggest that despite the NT2/D1 cells natural tendency to differentiate into neuroectodermal lineages, they can activate genes of mesodermal lineages. Therefore, we believe that these pluripotent cells might still be a good model to study biological development of mesodermal derivatives, provided the right culture conditions are met.Teratocarcinomas are highly malignant tumours, cells that have a big potential to differentiate in other cell types. They are considered to recapitulate many events occurring in early embryogenesis, but with a lesser degree of organization and regulation, being also called embryonal carcinomas (EC) [1-5]. The "undifferentiated elements" of these tumors are composed of EC cells or malignant pluripotent stem cells that appear, in culture, as embryoid body-like structures. After differentiation, they can also be histologically positive for many somatic tissues such as bone, muscle, nerve and others, these constituting the "differentiated elements" of these tumors or the teratoma components [6].The NT2/D1 cell line is a human EC that does not require any feeder layer to preserve its undifferentiated potential and it may form embryoid body-like structures in vitro, a feature also observed in other EC tumours [7-9]. The presence of some differentiating agents as RA, in the culture medium, seems to activate the neuroectodermal differentiating program [10], where the NT2/D1 cells give rise to neural cells but also nonneural cells. However, even without this agent, NT2/D1 can originate some neuronal-like phenotypes [11].When NT2/D1 cells give rise to neurons less than 10% of the cel

Abstract: The dramaturgy of Marivaux’s comedy La Fausse Suivante weaves the relationships of its characters into a triangular shape. It isa changing inter-action due to the presence of masks hiding their truth. This system of unstable triangles’ axis is the triple identityof the comedy’s main character, allowing her to change her initial position of coveted victim, into leading the action of the rest ofthe characters, creating the evidence that unveils their artifices and teaches everyone a moral lesson. This comedy, with its path ofpsychological tests and theatre within theatre, fully represents the theatrical features of Marivaux, which combine humour with issuing an appeal for humanized interpersonal relations.
Abstract: In the monographic epistolary novel of Loaisel de Tréogate Ainsi finissent les grandes passions (1788), the experiential predominates over the narrative function, the discourse over the story. However, in the letters which make up the work, there are numerous anecdotes which could be seen as marginal insertions, when in fact they as-sume a signifying function showing the essential topics, together with a structuring function, developing a net which gives co-herence to the different fragments from which the epistolary text is formed, and, at the same time, it serves as a guidance.
Collective rearrangement at the onset of flow of a polycrystalline hexagonal columnar phase
Teresa Bauer,Julian Oberdisse,Laurence Ramos
Physics , 2006, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevLett.97.258303
Abstract: Creep experiments on polycrystalline surfactant hexagonal columnar phases show a power law regime, followed by a drastic fluidization before reaching a final stationary flow. The scaling of the fluidization time with the shear modulus of the sample and stress applied suggests that the onset of flow involves a bulk reorganization of the material. This is confirmed by X-ray scattering under stress coupled to \textit{in situ} rheology experiments, which show a collective reorientation of all crystallites at the onset of flow. The analogy with the fracture of heterogeneous materials is discussed.

Advances in Infectious Diseases (AID) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/aid.2015.54027
Abstract: Immunotherapy with Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) to treat non-muscle invasive bladder cancer has become an effective and superior alternative to chemotherapy. Intravesical treatment with BCG appears to be relatively safe; however, occasionally BCG infection complicates such treatment. In the present work we describe three patients in whom BCG infection occurred after intravesical BCG therapy. All patients had positive urine culture forMycobacterium tuberculosis complex, using AccuProbe culture identification and then Genotype Mycobacterium MTBC test identified Mycobacterium bovis BCG. The diagnosis is difficult and microbiologic study is usually negative, so high index of suspicion is essential.
