A personalidade da m?e prematura
Botelho,Teresa Morais; Leal,Isabel;
Psicologia, Saúde & Doen?as , 2007,
Abstract: the main objective of the study was to determine the personality structure of women who delivered prematurely. based on an exploratory, observational and transversal research design, a sample of 301 premature mothers was obtained in 2 health institutions on the outskirts of lisbon. the research protocol was based on the revised neo personality inventory (five-factor model) and a sample questionnaire. the personality profile is high in extroversion (e; p=0,0001) and low in neuroticism (n; p=0,0001). the participants can be characterized as not being hostile (n2; p=0,0001), vulnerable (n6; p=0,02) depressed (n3; p=0,0001) or self-conscious (n4; p=0,02). instead they are assertive (e3; p=0,0001), active (e4; p=0,0001) and have more positive emotions (e6; p=0,0001). although they do not appreciate aesthetics (o2; p=0,01) and actions (o4; p=0,02), they are prone to having more ideas (o5; p=0,0001) and values (o6; p=0,04). altruistic (a3; p=0,04), self-disciplined (c5; p=0,002), less deliberate (c6; p=0,03) they are not very committed to duty (c3; p=0,0001). the high extroversion and activity levels may place full-term pregnancy at risk.

Cadima,Joana; Leal,Teresa; Cancela,Joana;
Revista Portuguesa de Educa??o , 2011,
Abstract: recent research has highlighted the importance of the classroom processes to student performance. accordingly, educational resources, such as the curricula and teacher training, although important, are not considered enough to guarantee student learning. on the other hand, it is increasingly acknowledged that the early elementary school years are crucial for later academic success. this paper presents a synthesis of recent research regarding the elementary classroom processes that are positively associated to student learning, as well as a conceptual model, the classroom assessment scoring system (class; pianta, la paro & hamre, 2008), which organizes teacher-child interactions into three major domains: instructional, organizational and emotional. based on these assumptions, implications for the educational system are discussed.

Mag?o,Maria Teresa Gouvêa; Leal,Isabel Pereira;
Psicologia, Saúde & Doen?as , 2001,
Abstract: this study explored with parents of children with cancer their perception of interactions with health professionals (nurses and/or physicians) that influenced their hope. its aim was to describe a hopefull interaction structure. to six parents, who volunteered to be interviewed, was asked to describe interaction accounts with a perceived influence in their hope. an interpretative phenomenological analysis (smith, jarman, & osborn, 1999) was conducted, emerging two main themes: hope meanings and the importance of relationships. these themes enhanced the understanding of the lived experience of this parents? hope and contributed to the identification of hope enhancing and hope inhibiting factors within their interactions with health professionals. the majority of this factors was identified as pairs of opposing valences. three axes of discussion are presented: hope and care connection; the uniqueness of nursing care in hope enhancement; the fragile balance between information disclosure and hope maintenance.
Short-term monitoring of the Spanish government balance

SERIEs , 2011, DOI: 10.1007/s13209-010-0018-3
Abstract: We construct multivariate, state-space mixed-frequencies models for the main components of the Spanish General Government sector made up of blocks for each one of its subsectors: Central Government, Social Security and aggregate of Regional and Local government sectors. Each block is modelled through its total revenue and expenditure categories, and encompasses a number of indicators, depending on data availability. The mixed-frequencies approach is particularly relevant for the case of Spain, given its institutional set-up and the specific data availability for the different subsectors. All in all, we provide models detailed enough in coverage, while at the same time manageable, to be used: (1) for real-time monitoring of fiscal policies with a focus on quarterly developments of the General Government sector, (2) for the monitoring of general government sub-sectors for which intra-annual data coverage is limited (Regional and Local governments), (3) to bridge (translate) into National Accounts available monthly information for the subsectors of the general government.

Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-35982008000200017
Abstract: two experiments (exp) were carried out to evaluate diets for broilers formulated with reducing crude protein (cp) level, supplemented with synthetic amino acids, formulated based on total amino acids (taa) (exp 1) or digestible aa (daa) (exp 2). the experiments conducted in the period from 3 to 6 weeks of age of the birds. in both experiments, the four levels of cp were: 20.8, 19.7, 18.6 and 17.5% cp. in the experiment 2, two other treatments were added: diets containing 20.8 and 17.5% cp and high digestibility (hd), based on corn, soybean meal, corn starch and soy protein isolate. in both experiments, the feed intake was not affected by cp decreasing. in exp1, weight gain (wg), feed conversion (fc), breast and drumstick yield were negatively affected by cp reduction, meanwhile in exp 2 those variables were not affected. however, in both experiments, in the week from 21 to 28 days of age, wg and fc were negatively influenced by cp decrease. as the cp levels decrease, the dry matter (dm) and organic matter (om) digestibility increased in the exp 2, due to the smaller inclusion of soybean meal. in both experiments, the relative protein retention was greater for rations with low cp levels. in exp 2, although of the different cp levels did not affect the performance, the hdig diets promoted higher om digestibility and tended to have higher dm digestibility. the rations with 17.5%cp level and hdig promoted a more positive protein balance and higher relative protein retention as compared to the standard digestibility. considering all the results, formulation with daa showed advantages related to taa.

Revista Cubana de Investigaciones Biom??dicas , 2001,
Abstract: the nocturnal penile tumescence (npt) are erections that occur frequently associated with a period of rem sleep (rapid eyes movement) and it is monitored by means of mercury manometers placed on the basis and on the glans penis and connected to the electroencephalograph. this test allows to measure the circumferential enlargement of the penis, the number of nocturnal erections and their duration. it also gives information on the integrity of the neural and vascular mechanisms that take part in the physiology of erection and, therefore, the application of nocturnal penile tumescence contributes to the differential diagnosis between the organic and the psychogenic sexual erectile dysfunction. some clinical considerations are made as a result of the application of this technique
