MECHANISM FOR DIFFUSION OF BORON IN γ-Fe

Abstract: Mechanism for diffusion of B in γ-Fe is believed to be mainly by means of boron-vacancycomplexes other than as interstitial atoms previously.This was made of calculation on the ba-sis of theoretical model proposed by the authors.The calculated diffusion coefficient of B inγ-Fe after this mechanism is consistent with the experimental values.In addition,this is alsosupported by the non-equilibrium segregation phenomenon of B at grain boundaries of γ-Feand the lattice constant measurement of Fe-B alloy.

Abstract: A β”/β-Al_2O_3 solid electrolyte was prepared and used in a Na conentration galvanic cell:(-)O_2(in Ar),SnO_2,Na_2SnO_3|β"/β-Al_2O_3]NaCrO_2,Cr_2O_3,O_2(in Ar)(+).Theemf measurements were carried out in temperature range of 912—1223 K:E=652.1—0.2092 T+2.3(mV).Using this equation and cited free energies of formation of NaCrO_2,Cr_2O_3 and SnO_2,the molar free energy of formation of Na_2 SnO_3 may be calculated byΔG°=-1050+0.2544 T±5.4(kJ mol~(-1)).

Abstract: The distribution of N and morphology of graphite in gray cast iron containing N were studicd by adopting the man-made specimens of Fe-C-Si-Mn alloys with some N added. The N adsorbed along the interfaces between graphite and matrix together with solid- solutioned in graphite is believed to be the principal cause of morpholongical variation of graphite.

Abstract: NdFeB coercive powder can be obtained directely by hydrogen treated ahoy ingots,The magnetic properties of the powder are comparable with that made by rapidsolidifiedprocess.An appreciable coercivity created during hydrogen treatment is closely relatedto the refined crystal grains.

Abstract: Solubility of Ca in manganese and manganese alloys was measured under sealed conditions at1350℃.The interaction coefficients of Al and Fe on Ca in Mn were evaluated with the exper-imental data.The standard free energy of liquid Ca in liquid Mn based on the 1 wt-% solu-tion standard was estimated as well.

Abstract: Effect of nitrogen on matrix structure of 3 different varieties of gray cast iron,i.e., sub-eutectic Fe-C-Si,near-eutectic Fe-C-Si and Fe-C-Si-Mn,has been investigated. The eutectie colony structure of gray cast iron may be refined,the pearlite content increased and the micro-hardness of pearlite and ferrite raised with an addition of nitrogen.The influ- ence of nitrogen on the transformation temperature of the equilibrium and non-equilibrium phases,as well as,the solution of nitrogen in ferrite and cementite seem to be the major rea- sons to strengthening the matrix structure of gray cast iron.

Abstract: By use of the self-consistent method of linear muffin-tin orbitals with the atomic sphere approximation on the basis of density functional theory, the total energies and the electron-ic sTructures ofNi, Al, and their hydrides NiH. A1H and Ni3AlH are calculated. The theoretical excess energies and the lattice strains due to hydrogen absorption consequently obtained from the ah initio results indicate that Ni is a better hydrogen absorber than Al, an. the absorptivity of Ni3Al dramatically decreases owing to the repulsion between Al and H On the other hand, the changes of band structures due to hydrogenation are found to be remparkable except that tor Al. and they are shown to be the qualitative manifestation of existing conclusions from photoemission experiments.

Abstract: Effect of Ca on hardenability and CCT diagram of steel 58CrV has been investigated by means of end-quenching and thermal expansion.An addition of 0.006 wt-%Ca to the steel may improve the hardenability,reduce the critical cooling rate of transformation of pearlite or bainite under continuous cooling and increase the M_s.AES analysis showed that Ca segre- gates markedly along austenitie grain boundaries,and accelecrates the segregation of C,Cr and Si.It is believed that besides towards deoxidizing and desulphurizing as well as improving sulphide morphology,a trace of Ca in steel 58CrV behaves towards microalloying.
