Yeni eri A as K se Mehmet A a ve Muhallefat ///Janissary Agha K se Mehmet and His Possessions
History Studies : International Journal of History , 2013,
Abstract: K se Mehmed Agha was raised among the Janissary corps in the beginning of the seventeenth century and he rose to the rank of Agha of the Janissaries. When Sultan Murad IV was threatened to be deposed as the crisis of payment for the accession to the throne (cül s) got worse, K se Mehmed Agha saved the Sultan’s life and helped him to stay on the throne as he stood with the Sultan against the Janissaries. In the aftermath, he became a trusted man of Murad IV for a while and carried out Murad’s notorious coercive administration methods. Once K se Mehmed made a mistake, he was executed and his properties were confiscated. The list of Agha’s high quality possessions indicates that a high-ranking Ottoman officer could easily amass massive wealth but the result of a big mistake in a high office would be fatal.
Study of Cluster Fluctuations in Two-dimensional q-State Potts Model

Physics , 1997, DOI: 10.1016/0378-4371(96)00123-9
Abstract: The two-dimensional Potts Model with 2 to 10 states is studied using a cluster algorithm to calculate fluctuations in cluster size as well as commonly used quantities like equilibrium averages and the histograms for energy and the order parameter. Results provide information about the variation of cluster sizes depending on the temperature and the number of states. They also give evidence for first-order transition when energy and the order parameter related measurables are inconclusive on small size lattices.
Softening of Phase Transition in 2D Potts Model Under Quenched Bond Randomness

Physics , 1997, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevE.58.4210
Abstract: We have simulated, by using cluster algorithm, the $q=8$ state Potts model in two-dimension with varying amount of quenched bond randomness. We have shown that there exist a finite size dependent threshold value of the introduced quenched bond randomness for rounding the first-order phase transition and this threshold value becomes smaller as the system size increased.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the explanation effect of self-compassion on emotional intelligence of teacher trainees. Participants were 347 university students who were enrolled at a mid-size state University, in Turkey. In this study, the Self-compassion Scale and the Bar-On Emotional Intelligence Scale were used. Self-compassion areas as self-kindness, awareness of common humanity, mindfulness, self-judgement, isolation, over-identification. Emotional intelligence areas are intrapersonal, interpersonal, stress management, adaptability, general mood and general emotional intelligence. In multiple regression analysis, it was found that the subscales of self-compassion had significant effects on the subscales of emotional intelligence. The increase on self-kindness and mindfulness resulted in an increase on emotional intelligence, whereas the increase on self-judgement and over-identification leaded to a decrease in coping with stress and general emotional state. There are significant differences on emotional intelligent areas according to gender but not on self-compassion. Results indicate that self-compassion is directly effective on emotional intelligence.

Physics , 1997, DOI: 10.1016/S0378-4371(97)00005-8
Abstract: The scaling behavior of fluctuations in cluster size is studied in q=5 and 7 state Potts models. This quantity exhibits scaling behavior on small lattices where the scaling of local operators like energy fluctuations and Binder cumulant can not be expected.

Ko?uyolu Kalp Dergisi , 2011,
Abstract: Introduction: Atrial septal defect (ASD) is the most common congenital heart disease in adults and constitutes 5-10% of all congenital heart disease. Primary surgical closure has been the standard approach for many years with high success rate. Transcatheter closure of ASD in selected patients has became the contemprorary practice that has the advantages of short hospital stay and relative ease of prosedure. In this article, we reported the results of percutaneous closure of ASD in our center. Methods: Between 2009-2011, thirty-two patients (mean age 36±18 years and 24 females) who had secundum type ASD which detected by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) were included in this study. Twenty-nine (90,6%) patients were closed percutaneously. Tree patients were referred for surgery because of failure of percutaneous closure. Amplatzer Septal Occluder was used in 25 (86,2%) patients and Occlutech device was used in other patients. All procedures were performed under local anesthesia. All of the patients were examined with TTE before the procedure and, at the 1st, 3rd, 6th and 12th month follow-up visits. Results: Pre-operative mean pulmonary artery pressure was 33,3±7,5 mmHg and mean pulmonary to systemic flow (Qp/Qs) ratio was 2,9±1,1. Mean ASD diameter measured by TEE was 20,1±6,6 mm and mean streched diameter measured by balloon catheter was 22,1±5,9 mm. Mean device size 24±6 mm (range 12-36 mm). In the follow-up period no major complication was observed, but mild to moderate residual shunt flow was detected in two patients (% 6,8). Conclusion: Percutaneous ASD closure has been performed with high success and low complication rates in patients with secundum atrial septal defect in our center.

Anadolu Kardiyoloji Dergisi , 2012,
Abstract: Objective: Platelets have an important role in the pathogenesis of atherothrombosis. It has been shown that platelet size measured by mean platelet volume (MPV), correlates with their reactivity and is still regarded as an easy, useful tool for indirect monitoring of platelet activity in different situations. Coronary artery calcification (CAC) has long been known to occur as a part of the atherosclerotic process. The aim of this study was to determine whether an association exists between MPV and CAC.Methods: In this observational study, we enrolled 259 participants with at least one cardiac risk factor but with unknown cardiovascular disease. Coronary calcification was assessed by multislice computerized tomography and MPV was measured in a blood sample collected in EDTA tubes. Statistical analysis was performed using Kruskal-Wallis, Chi-square, correlation tests and multiple regression analysis. Results: Calcium scores ranged from 0 to 735. There was a significant relation between CAC and MPV (r=0.24, p=0.02), age (r=0.32, p<0.001), hypertension (r=0.19, p=0.03), diabetes (r=0.16, p=0.005), smoking (r=0.17, p=0.001). In linear regression analysis, MPV (β=0.4, 95%CI 19.8- 31.1, p<0.001), age (β=0.13, 95%CI 0.23-2.4, p=0.01) and smoking (β=0.12, 95%CI 3.2-15.1, p=0.02) independently associated with CAC. In addition, there were significant differences in MPV between significant CAC group compared to the minimal and none (10.2±2.4 versus 8.1±0.9 and 7.6±1.3; p<0.001).Conclusion: We have found significant association between MPV and CAC. Although this study is purely correlative and no causative conclusions can be drawn, it may suggest that higher MPV may reflect increased atherosclerotic burden and cardiovascular risk.

Abstract: The fine arts have formed their own categories as well as they have established their repertoires. Those categories are the general principles of the work of art that is the fold of being. The aesthetic value analyses that would be done without considering those categories would be arbitrary analyses. Among the categories that form the general principles of a work of art, we can mention beauty, sublimity, tragic, comic, na ve, childish etc. In this study, we think to handle the aesthetic and tragic value relationship in the context of the work of art by analyzing a poem of Cahit S tk in the light of the tragic category.
