Abstract: With the globalization, the language gains prominence in association of countries that seek to ensure economic and social improvements. The language can guarantee prestige and power, but of same way that a particular language can assert more than other, their speakers may gain or lose with it. In intention of exploit the economic value of languages, those countries are investing in their valorization and expansion. We propose to observe, in this article, as the Brazil participates in this new political and economic context, integrating in the world the Brazilian Portuguese as a "Transnational Language”.

Abstract: respiratory virus infections are the main cause of infant hospitalization and are potentially severe in children with congenital heart disease (chd). rapid and sensitive diagnosis is very important to early introduction of antiviral treatment and implementation of precautions to control transmission, reducing the risk of nosocomial infections. in the present study we compare different techniques in the diagnosis of respiratory viruses in chd infants. thirty-nine samples of nasopharyngeal aspirate were obtained from chd infants with symptoms of respiratory infection. the multiplex pcr (seeplex? rv 12 ace detection) driven to the detection of 12 respiratory viruses was compared with the direct immunofluorescence assay (dfa) and pcr, both targeting seven respiratory viruses. the positivity found by dfa, multiplex and pcr was 33.3%, 51.3% and 48.7%, respectively. kappa index comparing dfa and multiplex, dfa and pcr and pcr and multiplex pcr was 0.542, 0.483 and 0.539, respectively. the concordance between techniques was considered moderate. both multiplex pcr (p = 0.001) and pcr (p = 0.002) detected significantly more respiratory virus than dfa. as the performance of the tests may vary, the combination of two or more techniques may increase diagnostic sensitivity favoring the diagnosis of co-infections, early introduction of antiviral therapy and implementation of appropriate measures.

Abstract: This study aimed to quantitative evaluate the implantation of paca’s peritoneum, a new biomaterial option, preserved in 300% supersaturated sugar solution or 98% glycerin on the abdominal wall of Wistar rats. 60 males, weighing between 150 and 200 g, are organized into the following experimental groups: control group (GI); group peritoneum preserved in 300% supersaturated sugar solution (GII); and group peritoneum preserved in 98% glycerin (GIII). Each group had 20 animals. Five rats from each group underwent euthanasia at four different moments: 7th, 15th, 30th, and 60th post-operatory day for histological and stereological evaluations of the graft/native tissue interface. On histological examination, one found out an extensive presence of inflammatory infiltrate at the early periods (7th and 15th day) and an extensive presence of connective tissue at the late moments (30th and 60th day). Through stereological analysis, one found out that the number of mononuclear cells decreased throughout the evaluation moments. One concluded that the paca’s peritoneum as a biological membrane preserved in 98% glycerin, when implanted on the abdominal wall of rats, microscopically allowed one to obtain, through stereological analyses, a lower inflammatory response than the paca’s peritoneum preserved in 300% supersaturated sugar solution.
