A prospective descriptive study was conducted in 50 patients operated on of cataract that visited the ophthalmological office (retina specialty) from September 2002 to June 2004 at "Dr Carlos J. Finlay" Central Military Hospital. These patients presented in the postoperataive a reduction of the visual acuity due to cystic macular edema. They received between 10 and 20 sessions of ultra-high frequency of 20 watts. At the end of the treatment, 94 % of the patients improved the visual acuity, which showed the usefulness of the method applied to this pathology
Betacyanin accumulation and guaiacol peroxidase activity in Beta vulgaris L. leaves following copper stress

Acta Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae , 2012, DOI: 10.5586/asbp.2012.019
Abstract: The effect of copper stress on betacyanin accumulation and guaiacol peroxidase (GPOD) activity in leaves of different age was evaluated in red beet (Beta vulgaris L. var. Crosby Egyptian) plants. In hydroponic culture, plants were treated with 0.3 μM (control), 50 μM, 100 μM, and 250 μM of CuSO4 for 6 days. Copper was taken up and accumulated in old roots but was not translocated to leaves. However in young leaves, the increase of lipid peroxidation and reduction of growth were evident from day 3 of copper exposure; whereas in old leaves, the lipid peroxidation and growth were the same from either copper-treated or control plants. In response to copper exposure, the betacyanin accumulation was evident in young leaves by day 3, and continued to increase until day 6. Betacyanin only were accumulated in old leaves until day 6, but the contents were from 4 to 5 times lower than those observed in young leaves at the same copper concentrations. GPOD activity increased 3.3- and 1.4-fold in young and old leaves from day 3 of copper treatment respectively, but only in the young leaves was sustained at the same level until day 6. Old roots shown betacyanin in the control plants, but the betacyanin level and growth were reduced with the copper exposure. In contrast, young roots emerged by copper effect also accumulated copper and showed the highest betacyanin content of all plant parts assayed. These results indicate that betacyanin accumulation and GPOD activity are defense responses to copper stress in actively growing organs.

Revista Cubana de Farmacia , 2011,
Abstract: the objective of the present paper was to evaluate the accelerated stability of a rhizophora mangle l. (red mangrove) gel under 2 storage conditions. the three pilot batches (gm01, gm02 and gm03) were stored at two temperature settings: 40 ± 2 °c for three months and 25 ± 2 °c for 6 months. one physical-chemical and microbiological evaluation was performed in two periods of time: at the months 0, 1, 2 and 3 for the first and at the months 0, 1, 2, 3 y 6 for the second tested storage condition. all the batches stored at both temperatures showed stable organoleptic characteristics and extensibility, the ph ranged from 6 to 7 and rheology confirmed a non-newtonian fluid of herschel bulkley-type in the evaluated periods of time. the minimum inhibitory concentration remained 8 to 10 mg/ml whereas the tannin concentration ranged 13 to 30 mg/g. all the batches were within the allowable microbial limits. the red mangrove gel showed good stability under accelerated temperatures, but this is an aspect that requires to be confirmed in a future on-shelf stability study.

Andamios , 2005,
Abstract: the author reflects about the persistence of sexism in political discourse and practices on contemporary mexican politics. analyzes three speeches where we can observe sexism in the discourse of mexican politicians from the "new mexican democracy". it is a review from the feminist theory and the critical analysis of discourse.
Rodríguez Salazar, Tania;
Comunicación y sociedad , 2009,
Abstract: the article expounds on some theoretical and methodological reflections about how the theory of social representations may be used in the field of communication studies. it discusses some possible applications of theoretical concepts and basic assumptions of the model to understand the communication processes of production of meaning as much in their daily demonstrations as in the mass media. it especially highlights some advantages of the theory to guide research on media messages, identifying inputs to recognize the holistic and hierarchical organization of the meanings that circulate in this kind of cultural product.
Rodríguez Salazar, Tania;
Culturales , 2012,
Abstract: this article offers to explore some aspects regarding four theoretical visions which have been relatively defined and cultivated for the research of love in social science: social-structural, social- historic, cultural and social criticism. these visions have influenced in different aspects the ways to study love and have established principles for understanding this subjective experience considering its social, cultural and power determinations. throughout the text i outline the main postulates for such visions, detailing methodological aspects and fundamental findings in each of them, considering the most prominent authors in this field of knowledge. finally, as conclusions, i present a balance concerning the contributions of these perspectives and the challenges facing love research in social science.
Rodríguez Salazar, Tania;
Sinéctica , 2011,
Abstract: following a dynamical vision of culture and social actor, open to cognitive heterogeneity and styles of life of modern society, this paper shows a theoretical dissertation about contextual determination of social representations (sr). my argument is that social representations have a contextual behavior because they are dynamics, changeables and they are dependent of discriminator's uses based on social interaction's contexts where people participate. this discussion its justified in the exposition of news hypotheses of the relation between central and peripherical components in its signification, and about the hypothesis of the silence zone (zone muette) of the sr. also, for remark the importance of context in sr, i show some results of my own descriptive research about the social representations of love in urban young people that raised in two contexts: intimate communication (love's letters) and group's communication (discussion's groups).
