Evaluation of Brain Iron Content Based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): Comparison among Phase Value, R2* and Magnitude Signal Intensity

Abstract: Background and Purpose Several magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques are being exploited to measure brain iron levels increasingly as iron deposition has been implicated in some neurodegenerative diseases. However, there remains no unified evaluation of these methods as postmortem measurement isn't commonly available as the reference standard. The purpose of this study was to make a comparison among these methods and try to find a new index of brain iron. Methods We measured both phase values and R2* in twenty-four adults, and performed correlation analysis among the two methods and the previously published iron concentrations. We also proposed a new method using magnitude signal intensity and compared it with R2* and brain iron. Results We found phase value correlated with R2* in substantia nigra (r = ?0.723, p<0.001) and putamen (r = ?0.514, p = 0.010), while no correlations in red nucleus (r = ?0.236, p = 0.268) and globus pallidus (r = ?0.111, p = 0.605). And the new magnitude method had significant correlations in red nucleus (r = ?0.593, p = 0.002), substantia nigra (r = ?0.521, p = 0.009), globus pallidus (r = ?0.750, p<0.001) and putamen (r = ?0.547, p = 0.006) with R2*. A strong inverse correlation was also found between the new magnitude method and previously published iron concentrations in seven brain regions (r = ?0.982, P<0.001). Conclusions Our study indicates that phase value may not be used for assessing the iron content in some brain regions especially globus pallidus. The new magnitude method is highly consistent with R2* especially in globus pallidus, and we assume that this approach may be acceptable as an index of iron content in iron-rich brain regions.
Study on Phase Structure, Dielectric and Magnetic Properties of BST/YIG Composites

Abstract: A series of composites were synthesized by solida2state reaction, with ferroelectric powder of BST and ferromagnetic powder of YIG as raw materials. Dielectric and magnetic properties of ferroelectrica2ferromagnetic composites were tested. The results show that the ferroelectric/ferromagnetic composites sintered at proper temperature consist of ferroelectric phase and ferromagnetic phase. The composite materials xBST-(1-x)YIG(x=0£ 0.1£ 0.2£ 0.3£ 0.4£ 0.5£ 0.6£ 0.7£ 0.8£ 0.9£ 1.0) exhibit excellent dielectric and magnetic properties. Both | nd | ncrease with the increase of BST content, and the dielectric resonant frequency shifts to a higher frequency with YIG content increasing. The permeability rises with BST content decreasing. The resonance frequency and high frequency characteristics of YIG are improved by adding BST.
Modification of B92 protocol and the proof of its unconditional security

Abstract: Shor and Preskill's method with which thy proved the unconditional security of BB84 quantum key distribution protocol was analyzed first. We also indicated that their method could not be applied to prove the unconditional security of B92 scheme directly. In order to take advantage of Shor Preskill's techniques in their proof of the unconditional security of BB84, we have introduced in this paper a transformation that can exchange between BB84 and B92. By proving that the transformed B92 protocol leaks no more information to eavesdropper, we demonstrate the unconditional security of B92. We also solve the problem how to prove the unconditional security of B92 with Shor Preskill's method.

Abstract: Adsorption and desorption process of cadmium in red soil (Ferrisols) as well as the influence by media's pH were investigated in detail with and without citric acid and EDTA. Experimental results clearly showed that Cd adsorption in red soil was affected significantly by the coexisted organic chemicals. In the presence of citric acid and EDTA, Cd adsorption in red soil increased with pH in acid media but decreased in high pH one. Further studies placed stress on the adsorbed Cd in red soil which was found to be existed mainly as exchangeable one at pH<5 5, and desorption rate by 0 10 mol/L NaNO 3 gave a peak shaped curve due to the difference of specifically and nonspecifically adsorbed Cd with pH's change.

Abstract: 以铁电性的钛酸锶钡(BST)和铁磁性钇铁氧体(YIG)为原料,采用固相反应法,合成了一系列铁电/铁磁复合材料,并对铁电/铁磁复合材料(YIG/BST)的介电性能和磁性能进行了详细地研究.结果表明:在一定温度下烧结所得的铁电/铁磁复合材料,由铁电相和铁磁相两相组成;xBST-(1-x)YIG(x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5,0.6,0.7,0.8,0.9,1.0)复合材料具有良好的介电性能和磁性能, 其介电常数实部ε′与虚部ε″均随BST含量的增加而升高,且介电常数的谐振峰随着YIG含量的增加而向频率高的方向移动.磁导率实部μ′与虚部μ″均随BST含量的增加而降低.在YIG铁氧体中加入适量的陶瓷BST构成复合材料,可以有效地改善截止频率,提高高频电磁特性.

Abstract: 通过长期定位试验研究了不同施肥处理对土壤物理性质的影响。结果表明,与单施化肥相比,施有机肥的土壤总孔隙度、土壤有效水含量、透水性、饱和导水率均较高,土壤持水性较好,表土硬度较低,改善了土壤物理性状,为提高作物水分利用效率和实施节水农业奠定较好的土壤条件。

Abstract: 选择太湖流域宜兴市和常熟市水稻土为研究对象,在区域采样调查耕层土壤磷库的基础上,开展田间不同施磷制度的试验。结果表明:宜兴、常熟两地水稻土速效磷含量达11.6 ~ 37.3 mg/kg和8.03 ~ 19.8 mg/kg,与第二次土壤普查结果比较,不同类型水稻土速效磷的含量均有显著增加,增幅达75% ~ 597% 和15% ~ 95%。全磷含量分别为0.39 ~ 0.72 g/kg和0.55 ~ 0.76 g/kg,也有明显的升高,增幅在23% ~ 128% 和4% ~ 19% 之间。在不同施磷制度下,7种水稻土类型的产量响应结果显示,稻季无论施磷与否对水稻产量并无影响。表明目前稻麦轮作制下,至少一季水稻可以不施磷肥仍能维持目前的产量水平。这一措施兼顾资源节约、环境保护和农业高效的三重意义,可作为科学施磷制度建立的有效途径之一。

Abstract: 研究长期施用有机肥与化肥对潮土土壤化学和生物学性质的影响结果表明,有机肥和化肥均使土壤有机质、全N、全P、速效磷、速度钾、阳离子交换性提高,增加土壤微生物数量和活性,但有机肥在培肥地力、创造有利于微生物生长繁育的土壤环境方面明显优于化学肥料。
