THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE USAGE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IN CITY AND RESORT HOTEL ESTABLISHMENTS: THE CASE OF TURKEY
Tülay GüZEL,Cengiz DEMIR
Ege Academic Review , 2008,
Abstract: The usage of computer technologies with telecommunication, the recent developments in the field of microelectronics caused significant changes in communication in today’s groving competition arena. The Information Technologies (IT) providing the production of data, its storage, verification and transmission are also very important for the tourism industry. The establishments operating in tourism industry need to use IT intensively to collect information about organizations, consumers, competitors and other environmental factors to transmit these data to their employees, to provide the daily operations more effectively and productively and to understand the global marketing applications. The purpose of this study is to identify how many of the information technologies were used by city and resort hotels, their usage areas, and the attitudes of hotels towards IT. The results of the study showed that the 5-star resort hotels in Antalya had more differences compared to the hotels in stanbul with respect to the usage of IT. These differences appeared either non existence for most of the IT or rare applications of it.

Abstract: This prospective cross-sectional study was carried out in a tertiary training and research hospital in Turkey. Kyphoscoliosis patients with CHRF on home mechanical ventilation (HMV) followed in a respiratory intensive care unit (RICU) out-patient clinic were enrolled. Patients' demographics were recorded as well as transthoracic echocardiography (ECHO), 6MWD, spirometry, arterial blood gas (ABG) values and high resolution chest computed tomography. 6MWT results were compared with other parameters.Thirty four patients with kyphoscoliosis and chronic respiratory insufficiency admitted to our outpatient clinic were included in the study but 25 (17 M) patients underwent 6MWT (8 patients walked with oxygen supplement due to PaO2 < 60 mm Hg). The mean 6MWD was 274.4 ± 76.2 (median 270) m and median 6MWD predicted rate was 43.7% (inter quartile ratio, IQR, 37.6% to 47.7%). Median HMV use was 3 years (IQR 2-4). 6MWD predicted rate, body mass index (BMI), HMV duration were similar in male and female patients. 6MWD correlated well with age, BMI, dyspnea score for baseline 6MWT (r: - 0.59, p < 0.002, r: - 0.58, p < 0.003, r: - 0.55, p < 0.005 respectively) but modestly with forced expiratory volume in one second, pulse rate for baseline 6MWT, pulse saturation rate, fatigue and dyspnea score at end of 6MWT (r: - 0.44, p < 0.048; r: 0.44, p < 0.027; r: - 0.43, p < 0.031; r: - 0.42, p < 0.036; r: - 0.42, p < 0.034 respectively). 6MWD predicted rate was only correlated with dyspnea score at baseline (r: - 0.46, p < 0.022). The systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (PAPs) in 6 (24%) cases was more than 40 mmHg, in whom mean PaO2/FiO2 was 301.4 ± 55.4 compared to 280.9 ± 50.2 in those with normal PAPs (p > 0.40).The 6MWT is an easy way to evaluate physical performance limitation in kyphoscoliosis patients with chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure using home mechanical ventilation. Nearly 275 m was the mean distance walked in the 6MWT, but rather than distance in meters, the 6MWD p

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the femoral anteversion (FA) angle with clinical and radiological evaluations in patients with cerebral palsy (CP) and also to determine the relationship between radiologic imaging methods and clinical evaluation.Materials and Methods: For clinical evaluation of FA, Craig’s test, and for radiological evaluation of FA, direct radiography (the Rippstein-Müller method), computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were used. Results: The mean age of the patients was 7.2±1.77 (5-11) years. The mean FA angles were 38.2°±8.4° (20°-50°) (Craig’s test), 56.5°±14.28° (25°-100°) (radiograph), 29.0°±10.5° (7°-49°) (CT) and 37.3°±10.6° (11°-68°) (MRI), respectively. The FA angle was significantly higher in patients with hip adductor muscle spasticity than in patients without adductor spasticity (p<0.05). The FA angles evaluated by Craig’s test and CT were correlated with hip internal rotation measurements and the FA angle with MRI was correlated with the difference between hip internal and external rotation measurements. When FA angle measurement methods were compared, Craig’s test positively correlated with CT and x-ray imaging and also, MRI positively correlated with direct radiography. Conclusion: The FA angle is high in children with CP. Hip adductor spasticity, increased hip internal rotation and the difference between hip internal and external rotation measurements on physical examination are cautionary signs for an increased FA angle. In this regard, Craig’s test appears to be a clinically relevant method for determining the FA angle. In addition, MRI may be preferred over CT in patients who have undergone femoral derotation osteotomy. Turk J Phys Med Rehab 2013;59:26-31.

Latin-American Journal of Physics Education , 2010,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of teaching of the problem solving strategies on the students’ physicsachievement, strategy level, attitude, and achievement motivation. Experimental procedures were conducted on thetenth grade students in Turkey. Research data were collected with Physics Achievement Test, Surveys of ProblemSolving Strategies, Problem Solving Attitude, and Achievement Motivation, and problem solving worksheets. Duringthis study, problem solving strategies were applied to the experimental group by the cooperative learning method andto the control group by conventional teaching. The averages of the experimental group’s achievement, motivation, strategy level, and attitude were found to be higher than control group’s. According to the experimental data, genderdidn’t effect the physics achievement of students. It was concluded that problem solving strategies was more effectivein cooperative learning than conventional teaching.

Balkan Medical Journal , 2012,
Abstract: Vulvovaginitis caused by Shigella species (Shigella spp.) has rarely been reported. This paper describes two cases of prepubertal vulvovaginitis, presenting with a bloody and purulent vaginal discharge, separately caused by ampicillin-resistant Shigella flexneri and trimethoprim-sulfomethoxazole-resistant Shigella sonnei. Our conclusions are that Shigella spp. is the potential cause of vulvovaginitis in prepubertal girls in developing countries where these pathogens are endemic, and identification of the bacteria and making antibiotic susceptibility testing in these cases should not be overlooked.
Agressive angiomyxoma: Case report

Journal of Clinical and Experimental Investigations , 2012,
Abstract: Aggressive angiomyxoma is a rare benign mesenchymal neoplasm. It is often diagnosed in genital, pelvic and perineal region of women in reproductive ages. Aggressive angiomyxoma is associated with a high risk of local recurrence. Aggressive angiomyxoma is mixed with Bartholin’s gland cyst, lipoma and vaginal cysts in diagnosis. Generally, stromal invasion is detected in these benign neoplasms. Therefore, wide local excision should be performed to treat. GnRH agonists could be administered in patient with aggressive angiomyxoma, either primary or recurrent. We reported a case with vulvar aggressive angiomyxoma presented with vulvar mass and treated with wide local excision. Abstract: This paper is written to narrate, interpret and share our experiences starting from August 2009, at the Women’s Shelter of ankaya Municipality, Ankara. Our Women’s Shelter shares the aims and the organizational structure of the municipal administration. This connection opens the shelter to the danger of bearing the patriarchal patterns of the organizational structure and the manners of work as well. Despite this structural disadvantages, we have intended to develop a place free from patriarchal violence to work and live. In this paper we intend point our observations considering the various manifestations of patriarchy and the practices within which patriarchy manifests itself as well as the reconstructive work we have been doing and hoping that is gradually becoming a model to free our shelter from these manifestations.

Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: In this study, we try to semi-real quaternionic curves in the semi-Euclidean space E_2^4. Firstly, we introduce algebraic properties of semi-real quaternions. And then, we give some characterizations of semi-real quaternionic involute-evolute curves in the semi-Euclidean space E_2^4. Lastly, we illustrate some examples and draw their figures with Mathematica Programme.

Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: The notion of rectifying curve in the Euclidean space is introduced by Chen as a curve whose position vector always lies in its rectifying plane spanned by the tangent and the binormal vector field t and n_2 of the curve. In this study, we have obtained some characterizations of semi-real spatial quaternionic rectifying curves in R_1^3. Moreover, by the aid of these characterizations, we have investigated semi real quaternionic rectifying curves in semi-quaternionic space Q_v.
