Simultaneous Design of T-S Fuzzy Controllers and Observers Using GA

Abstract: Fuzzy control can be used to improve existing controller systems by adding an extra layer of intelligence to the current control method. But most of the cases it is very difficult to measure the state variables. Various design methods are available to design fuzzy observers which can be used to estimate the state variables. But simultaneous design of fuzzy controllers and observers using genetic algorithm is not reported so far. This study presents the Simultaneous Design of Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Controllers and Observers using Genetic Algorithm. Benchmarking control problem, namely the inverted pendulum system is simulated with the designed fuzzy controller and observer and the results are promising.
Test Case Prioritization for Regression Testing based on Severity of Fault

Abstract: Regression testing is one of the most critical activities of software development and maintenance. Whenever software is modified, a set of test cases are run and the comparison of new outputs is done with the older one to avoid unwanted changes. If the new output and old output match it implies that the modifications made in one part of the software don’t affect the remaining software. It is impractical to re-execute every test case for a program if changes occur. The problem of regression test case selection can be solved by prioritizing the test cases. Regression test prioritization techniques reorder the execution of a test suit in an attempt to ensure that faults are revealed at the earlier stage of the testing process. Test case prioritization techniques schedule test cases for execution so that those with higher priority, according to some criterion are executed earlier than those with lower priority to meet some performance goal. In this paper an algorithm is proposed to prioritize test cases based on rate of fault detection and fault impact. The proposed algorithm identifies the severe fault at earlier stage of the testing process and the effectiveness of prioritized test case and comparison of it with unprioritized ones with the help of APFD.
Reduction of Roughness in FIR-SR Filter to DESIGN the Higher Order QAM Communication System.

Abstract: This paper presents a method of designing hybrid analog/asymmetrical square-root (SR) FIR filters. In addition to the conventional frequency domain constraints, the proposed method considers time-domain constraints as well, including the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and the opening of the eye pattern at the receiver output. Newly conceived parameter, the “roughness” of the analog/FIR-SR filter impulse response, is taken into account. The error-performance of a system employing a matched SR filter pair, in the presence of receiver timing jitter, is more strongly related to how well the roughness parameter is minimized, than it is to the maximizing of the eye width caused by the Nyquist pulse. QAM conveys a higher information bit rate (bits per second) than a BPSK or QPSK signal. With the hybrid analog/SR FIR filter co-design, examples show that using the proposed method can result in a more robust ISI performance & reduction in PAPR in the presence of the receiver clock jitter.
Channel Estimation for MIMO MC-CDMA Systems

Abstract: The concepts of MIMO MC-CDMA are not new but the new technologies to improve their functioning are an emerging area of research. In general, most mobile communication systems transmit bits of information in the radio space to the receiver. The radio channels in mobile radio systems are usually multipath fading channels, which cause inter-symbol interference (ISI) in the received signal. To remove ISI from the signal, there is a need of strong equalizer. In this thesis we have focused on simulating the MIMO MC-CDMA systems in MATLAB and designed the channel estimation for them.

Abstract: In the title compound, C17H11Cl6NO2, the six-membered ring of the norbornene moiety adopts a boat conformation whereas the two five-membered rings adopt envelope conformations. The phenyl ring and the ring of the succinimide moiety are almost coplanar [dihedral angle = 7.44 (14)°]. The crystal packing is stabilized by a weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bond.

Effect of Modified Atmosphere Packaging on Microbial and Physical Qualities of Turkey Meat

Abstract: The effect of modified atmosphere (80% oxygen +20% carbon dioxide) packaging, vacuum packaging and aerobic packaging on the microbial qualities viz., Total Viable Count (TVC) and anaerobic count, physical qualities viz., pH and drip loss and sensory quality viz., odour score of fresh and stored turkey meat at 4±1°C was studied. TVC, anaerobic counts, drip loss and odour score were the lowest in samples packaged under modified atmosphere. Turkey meat packaged under modified atmosphere and vacuum kept well up to twenty-one days of storage but based on the odour score turkey packaged under vacuum revealed to be better. It could be concluded that turkey meat packaged under modified atmosphere kept safely up to 14 days of storage at 4±1°C based on the desirable TVC, anaerobic counts and drip loss. Whereas turkey meat packaged under vacuum could be safely kept up to 21 days of storage.
Design and optimization of plasmonic-based metal-dielectric nanocomposite materials for energy applications

Abstract: Metallic nanoparticles embedded in dielectrics permit enhanced capture of light at specific wavelengths through excitation of plasmons, i.e. the quanta of coherent and collective oscillations of large concentrations of nearly free electrons. In order to maximize the potential of such enhanced absorption in useful tasks, such as the generation of carriers in photocatalysts and semiconductors, it is important to be able to predict and design plasmonic nanocomposites with desired wavelength-dependent optical absorption. Recently, a mixing approach formulated by Garcia and co-workers [Phys. Rev. B, 75, 045439 (2007)] has been successfully applied to model the experimentally measured broadband optical absorption for ternary nanocomposites containing alloys or mixtures of two metals (from Ag, Au or Cu) in SiO dielectric. In this work we present the broadband optical behavior of important optical coating dielectrics (SiN and SiO) and photocatalyst (TiO) containing various configuration of nanoparticles of Al, Au, Ag, or Cu. The spectral behavior of various combinations of the metallic species in the dielectrics was optimized to show either broadband solar absorption or strong multiple plasmonic absorption peaks. The applications of such nanocomposite materials in solar energy harvesting and spectral sensing are also presented and discussed.
Self-organized metal nanostructures through laser driven thermocapillary convection

Abstract: When ultrathin metal films are subjected to multiple cycles of rapid melting and resolidification by a ns pulsed laser, spatially correlated interfacial nanostructures can result from a competition among several possible thin film self-organizing processes. Here we investigate self-organization and the ensuing length scales when Co films (1-8 nm thick) on SiO_{\text{2}} surfaces are repeatedly and rapidly melted by non-uniform (interference) laser irradiation. Pattern evolution produces nanowires, which eventually break-up into nanoparticles exhibiting spatial order in the nearest neighbor spacing, \lambda_{NN2}.The scaling behavior is consistent with pattern formation by thermocapillary flow and a Rayleigh-like instability. For h_{0}\leq2 nm, a hydrodynamic instability of a spinodally unstable film leads to the formation of nanoparticles.
