ADVERSARIAL QUESTIONING AND ANSWERING STRATEGIES IN CHINESE GOVERNMENT PRESS CONFERENCES

Abstract: Studying political interviews and press conferences is significant as it may provide a special insight into the change in the policy of a country, and perhaps even the well-being of a society as a whole. Previous studies on broadcast interviews have identified adversarial questioning as an increasing and pervasive style in journalistic practice in the western world (Clayman and Heritage 2002a/b). The use of such adversarial style has emerged in Hong Kong — a metropolitan city deeply influenced by both Chinese and western cultures (Yip 2003). However, the general knowledge of how journalists treat public figures in other parts of the Chinese-speaking world remains relatively unknown. This study attempts to investigate the questioning and answering patterns, in particular adversarial questioning, in Chinese government press conferences which has thus far received little scholarly attention. Drawing on Clayman and Heritage’s coding system for measuring adversarial questioning in U.S. press conferences (2002b), the current study examines the question-answer sequences based on a corpus of ten government press conferences held in mainland China, and aims to present a questioning format by showing any differences in the design of questions by Chinese journalists and their foreign counterparts. The study further explores the format of the response of Chinese officials typical of these events and some possible correlation between government officials’ question-taking and their setting of the political agenda.

Abstract:

In view of the irrational phenomenon of many highly educated intellectuals showed non-rational behavior; it consider that the reason for this non-rational behavior is caused by the artificial fragmentation of scientific attainment education and humanistic spirit education in modern China higher education. This article maintains that healthy higher education should be based on scientific literacy, oriented by humanistic spirit, and to aim at the promotion of students personality perfection. Based on these, this paper ideal is the unity of human spirit education and science literacy education in modern Chinese colleges and universities is need urgently, that is to fully integrate the human spirit and science literacy, practice the way of the combination of science and humanities education. Focus on the combination, the connotations, objectives and ways to realize are disscussed in this paper, it is thinking that practices the combination of science and humanities education way should develop education theory, establish the educational methodology suitable for the science and humanities education, and seek the reuniting of science and humanities education from the history of science literacy education and humanities spirits education, reform the probleme in the combination of science education and humanities education, to carry out the education of science and humanities at the same time, reshaping the values of today higher education.

Abstract: In the title compound, [Co(C7F7)Cl2(C3H9P)2], the CoIII atom displays a trigonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry, with the two Cl ligands and the C atom of the perfluorotolyl ligand in the equatorial plane and the two phosphine ligands occupying axial positions. The molecule has an approximate C2v symmetry. The trifluoromethyl group is disordered over two positions, with nearly equal occupancies.

Abstract: Theoretical physics is the main constitute part of physics science. The instruction of theoretical physics courses plays an important role in the research of basic science and training physics talents. Most of students considered that the knowledge of theoretical physics is very abstract and causing many difficulties in study. But students have initiatives to learn theoretical physics well. Teachers can implement some teaching reform strategies to improve the quality of theoretical physics instruction. The strategies are as follow: stimulate students’ interest in learning, perfect students' cognitive structure and knowledge structure of theoretical physics; optimize the system of theoretical physics curriculum, enrich the instruction contents; apply heuristic instruction in theoretical physics teaching; establish virtual theoretical physics experiments and improve assessment and appraisal methods, promote students' all-round development.

Abstract: Information literacy has become a necessity for everyone; it forms the basis of lifelong learning. Information literacy is highly important for college studen in science and engineering disciplines. Information literacy education is not just in the research field of librarians nowadays. In higher education for science and engineering, information literacy can be integrated across the curriculum. Some effective strategies can be implemented to improve college students’ information literacy. While students leave the campus, they have the ability to use information effectively and can easily keep up with new developments of science, technology and engineering.
Analysis of Instantaneous Center of Zero Acceleration of Rigid Body in Planar Motion

Abstract: When the angular velocity vector of rigid body in the plane motion unequal to zero, we can certainly find a point which instantaneous acceleration equal to zero at that particular instant. The point is named instantaneous center of zero acceleration. We proved the existence of the point and obtained the location of the point. We could solve mechanical problem quickly using instantaneous center of acceleration as base point.
Cultivation of Science Teachers’ Information Literacy in China

Abstract: In the paper, we focus on the information literacy of science teachers in China. Information literacy encompasses knowledge of one’s information concerns and needs, and the ability to identify, locate, evaluate, organize and effectively create, use and communicate information. Science teachers should have information literacy which is a basic capability to carry out their everyday teaching lives. Science teachers should be sensitive to information resources in daily life, reinforce technology skills and integrate information technology with their instruction, and learn how to make use of WWW resources in their classroom. Constructivism theory can help teachers better integrate information technology with science education and promote instructional quality of teaching.

Abstract: It's a typical physical problem that the calculation of a uniformly charged circle and a uniformly charged disc. By solving partial differential equation under given boundary conditions, we obtained the electric potential of a uniformly charged circle. Using the method of superposition, the electric potential of a uniformly charged disc can be calculated.

Abstract: Dinoflagellates nuclei allow for liquid crystalline characterization without core histones. In this study, nuclei were isolated from the athecate Karenia dinoflagellate species with minimum destruction to their native structure during preparation procedures. The liquid crystalline nuclei were studied by microscopy techniques of Metripol birefringence microscopy, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) and synchrotron radiation-based hard X-ray Microscopy with computed tomography, respectively. The 3D reconstruction techniques of hard X-ray tomography and CLSM were also discussed. The important biophysical parameters of the interspaces between chromosomes, nuclear surface areas and chromosome-occupied volumes were calculated from a 3D rendering of a reconstructed nucleus. The results of calculated average chromosomal DNA concentration of dinoflagellate was consistent with the concentration which can spontaneously assemble into the cholesteric liquid crystal phase in vitro.
