A Novel Solution Based on Differential Evolution for Short-Term Combined Economic Emission Hydrothermal Scheduling  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper presents a novel approach based on differential evolution for short-term combined economic emission hydrothermal scheduling, which is formulated as a bi-objective problem: 1) minimizing fuel cost and 2) minimizing emission cost. A penalty factor approach is employed to convert the bi-objective problem into a single objective one. In the proposed approach, heuristic rules are proposed to handle water dynamic balance constraints and heuristic strategies based on priority list are employed to repair active power balance constraints violations. A feasibility-based selection technique is also devised to handle the reservoir storage volumes constraints. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated and the test results are compared with those of other methods reported in the literature. Numerical experiments show that the proposed method can obtain better-quality solutions with higher precision than any other optimization methods. Hence, the proposed method can well be extended for solving the large-scale hydrothermal sched-uling.
Regression Analysis of a Kind of Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers Based on a Shape Preserving Operator  [PDF]

Abstract: Fuzzy regression provides more approaches for us to deal with imprecise or vague problems. Traditional fuzzy regression is established on triangular fuzzy numbers, which can be represented by trapezoidal numbers. The independent variables, coefficients of independent variables and dependent variable in the regression model are fuzzy numbers in different times and TW, the shape preserving operator, is the only T-norm which induces a shape preserving multiplication of LL-type of fuzzy numbers. So, in this paper, we propose a new fuzzy regression model based on LL-type of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers and TW. Firstly, we introduce the basic fuzzy set theories, the basic arithmetic propositions of the shape preserving operator and a new distance measure between trapezoidal numbers. Secondly, we investigate the specific model algorithms for FIFCFO model (fuzzy input-fuzzy coefficient-fuzzy output model) and introduce three advantages of fit criteria, Error Index, Similarity Measure and Distance Criterion. Thirdly, we use a design set and two reference sets to make a comparison between our proposed model and the reference models and determine their goodness with the above three criteria. Finally, we draw the conclusion that our proposed model is reasonable and has better prediction accuracy, but short of robust, comparing to the reference models by the three goodness of fit criteria. So, we can expand our traditional fuzzy regression model to our proposed new model.
Numerical Simulation of Shock Resistant Microsystems (MEMS)  [PDF]

The mechanical response of shock-loaded microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) is simulated to formulate guidelines for the design of dynamically reliable MEMS. MEMS are modeled as microstructures supported on elastic substrates, and the shock loads are represented as pulses of acceleration applied by the package on the substrate over a finite time duration. For typical MEMS and shock loads, the response of the substrate is closely approximated by rigid-body motion. Results indicate that modeling the shock force as a quasi-static force for MEMS with low-natural frequencies may lead to erroneous results. A criterion is obtained to distinguish between the dynamic and quasi-static responses of the MEMS.
Photodegradation and Aggregation Prevention of Natural Melanin Nanoparticles by Silica Coating Method  [PDF]

Melanin, the main photoreceptor in living organics, is largely abundant in pigmented hair tissues. Its promising properties have been widely studied in order to fully explore the corresponding applications. However, the photodegradating and aggregating natures of melanin, to some extent, restrict the development of this eco-friendly biomaterial. This study is conducted to overcome both disadvantages by a mature method that coating the original melanin nanoparticles with silica as shells. The results revealed that the aggregation of the melanin/silica nanoparticles (MSNP) was decreased obviously by a 5 h coating and appeared a uniformly mono-dispersed solution. The MSNP that coated for 20 h provided an efficient protection on the photodegradation of the melanin with a 50% maintenance of the melanin content compared with 16% of original melanin and 2% of MSNP-5 h.

China’s fast fashion clothing market is dominated by Uniqlo, ZARA and H & M, supplemented by other fast fashion clothing brands. This paper uses SCP paradigm to analyze the fast fashion brands in China’s clothing market. By dividing the market structure of China’s fast fashion clothing, it is concluded that the market structure of China’s fast fashion clothing is oligopoly III, and the cost oriented price behavior of enterprises in the oligopoly market struc-ture is analyzed. In order to analyze the market performance of China’s fast fashion clothing market, digital non-price behavior and organizational ad-justment behavior of increasing the number of stores are used to analyze the market performance of China’s fast fashion clothing market.
Effect of anionic-nonionic mixed surfactant on ryegrass uptake of phenanthrene and pyrene from water

Abstract: The effect of anionic-nonionic mixed surfactant (SDBS-TX100) on the uptake of phenanthrene and pyrene by ryegrass in a hydroponic system was studied, and the influence factors including the compositions and concentrations of mixed surfactants and the compounds properties were also discussed. The results showed that SDBS-TX100 mixtures with certain compositions and concentrations could enhance the uptake of phenanthrene and pyrene by ryegrass, which could be attributed to the improved uptake capacity of ryegrass roots for phenanthrene and pyrene. SDBS-TX100 can enhance the uptake of phenanthrene and pyrene by ryegrass in a wider range of surfactant concentrations (0 0.8 mmol/L) in comparison with corresponding single surfactants, and the maximal contents of phenanthrene and pyrene in ryegrass roots were obtained with the concentrations of SDBS-TX100 around the corresponding critical micelle concentrations. The uptake of phenanthrene and pyrene by ryegrass increased with the increasing mole fraction of SDBS in mixed surfactant solutions, and SDBS-TX100 mixture with a mole ratio of SDBS to TX100 at 9:1 had the greatest capacity in enhancing the uptake of phenanthrene and pyrene, at which the corresponding maximal concentrations of phenanthrene and pyrene in ryegrass roots were 216 and 8.16 times those without surfactants, respectively. Results from this study indicate that the anionic-nonionic mixed surfactants (SDBS-TX100) would be a preferred selection for the application of surfactant-enhanced phytoremediation technology to contaminated soils.

Abstract: In this paper, we define and study the Weil-Petersson geometry. Under the framework of the Weil-Petersson geometry, we study the Weil-Petersson metric and the Hodge metric. Among the other results, we represent the Hodge metric in terms of the Weil-Petersson metric and the Ricci curvature of the Weil-Petersson metric for Calabi-Yau fourfold moduli. We also prove that the Hodge volume of the moduli space is finite. Finally, we proved that the curvature of the Hodge metric is bounded if the Hodge metric is complete and the dimension of the moduli space is 1.

Abstract: In this paper, we proved that the Weil-Petersson volume of Calabi-Yau moduli is a rational number. We also proved that the integrations of the invariants of the Ricci curvature of the Weil-Petersson metric with respect to the Weil-Petersson volume form are all rational numbers.
