A Dynamic Model of Mixed Duopolistic Competition: Open Source vs. Proprietary Innovation  [PDF]
Suat Akbulut, Murat Y?lmaz
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2015.56085
Abstract: We model the competition between a proprietary firm and an open source rival, by incorporating the nature of the GPL, investment opportunities by the proprietary firm, user-developers who can invest in the open source development, and a ladder type technology. We use a two-period dynamic mixed duopoly model, in which a profit-maximizing proprietary firm competes with a rival, the open source firm, which prices the product at zero, with the quality levels determining their relative positions over time. We analyze how the existence of open source firm affects the investment and the pricing behavior of the proprietary firm. We also study the welfare implications of the existence of the open source rival. We find that, under some conditions, the existence of an open source rival may decrease the total welfare.

This article is reviewed along the Turkish-British Struggle in the national competition, the national movement in Kurdistan; they are used to describe how the tool they neutralize. During the continuing cutthroat competition, most of the Kurds did not become an instrument to all kinds of British policies. British did not manage to have the Kurds rebel along their imperial interests even though they manipulated the independence of Arabs, Armenian nationalism and Zionism. zetBu makale Türk Kurtulu Sava (1918-1922) esnas nda Kürt kabilelerin ne tür roller üstlendikleri konusunu ele almaktad r. SPACE, CULTURE AND IDENTITY: SOCIAL MEANING OF SPACE AMONG ISPARTA TAHTACIS
Suat KOLUKIRIK
Zeitschrift für die Welt der Türken , 2010,
Abstract: The problems encountered in today's urban spaces by Tahtacis, who are one of the major building blocks of Anatolian culture, constitute a significant field of discussion. In urban spaces, the historical images of Tahtaci groups that are integrated with rural spaces seem quite far from the descriptions of 'agaceri', 'nomad' or 'semi-nomad'. The new practices of life emerged parallel with the changes which social organisation models of Tahtacis have gone through in terms of time and space require an evaluation of Tahtaci identity and culture within the frame of different forms. This article which is beyond the previous studies concerning Tahtaci groups about ethnicity and religious practices analyses the current social condition of Tahtacis who live in Isparta Turan district in terms of perception of space. Beside the problems that Tahtaci culture and identity have in the transmission of oral culture, the social profiles that appear with the conditions of being entrapped and unavoidably scattered in urban space are the major points of examination. In this study, the new constructions and forms of space, culture and identity relations are scrutinised within a sociological perspective.
