Second Attribute Algorithm Based on Tree Expression

Abstract: One view of finding a personalized solution of reduct in an information system is grounded on the viewpoint that attribute order can serve as a kind of semantic representation of user requirements. Thus the problem of finding personalized solutions can be transformed into computing the reduct on an attribute order. The second attribute theorem describes the relationship between the set of attribute orders and the set of reducts, and can be used to transform the problem of searching solutions to meet user requirements into the problem of modifying reduct based on a given attribute order. An algorithm is implied based on the second attribute theorem, with computation on the discernibility matrix. Its time complexity is O(n 2× m) (n is the number of the objects and m the number of the attributes of an information system). This paper presents another effective second attribute algorithm for facilitating the use of the second attribute theorem, with computation on the tree expression of an information system. The time complexity of the new algorithm is linear in n. This algorithm is proved to be equivalent to the algorithm on the discernibility matrix. Jue Wang is a professor of computer science and artificial intelligence at Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He graduated on computer science and artificial intelligence from Graduate School, Univ. of Science and Technology of China in 1981. His research interests include knowledge representation, expert system, artificial neural network, genetic algorithm, knowledge discovery in databases and methodology in AI.

Abstract: The title compound, [Cd(NO3)(C5H8N2)4]NO3, was prepared by reaction of cadmium nitrate and 3,5-dimethylpyrazole in ethanol solution. The Cd atom adopts a distorted cis-CdO2N4 octahedral geometry involving four dimethylpyrazole molecules and one bidentate nitrate anion. The molecular structure and packing are stabilized by N—H...O and C—H...O inter- and intramolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions.

Abstract: The discernibility matrix is one of the most important approaches to computing positive region, reduct, core and value reduct in rough sets. The subject of this paper is to develop a parallel approach of it, called “tree expression”. Its computational complexity for positive region and reduct is O(m 2 × n) instead of O(m × n 2) in discernibility-matrix-based approach, and is not over O(n 2) for other concepts in rough sets, where m and n are the numbers of attributes and objects respectively in a given dataset (also called an “information system” in rough sets). This approach suits information systems with n m and containing over one million objects. Reduct and Attribute Order

Abstract: Based on the principle of discernibility matrix, a kind of reduction algorithm with attribute order has been developed and its solution has been proved to be complete forreduct and unique for a given attribute order. Being called thereduct problem, this algorithm can be regarded as a mappingR=Reduct(S) from the attribute order space to thereduct spaceR for an information system (U, C∪ D), whereU is the universe andC andD are two sets of condition and decision attributes respectively. This paper focuses on the reverse problem ofreduct problemS=Order(R), i.e., for a givenreduct R of an information system, we determine the solution ofS=Order(R) in the space . First, we need to prove that there is at least one attribute orderS such thatS=Order(R). Then, some decision rules are proposed, which can be used directly to decide whether the pair of attribute orders has the samereduct. The main method is based on the fact that an attribute order can be transformed into another one by moving the attribute for limited times. Thus, the decision of the pair of attribute orders can be altered to the decision of the sequence of neighboring pairs of attribute orders. Therefore, the basic theorem of neighboring pair of attribute orders is first proved, then, the decision theorem of attribute order is proved accordingly by the second attribute. Abstract: The title compound [systematic name: 2-(1H-1,2,3-benzotriazol-1-ylmethyl)isoindole-1,3-dione], C15H10N4O2, was prepared by the reaction of 1H-benzotriazole and 2-bromomethylisoindole-1,3-dione. The benzotriazole and isoindole units are almost planar and make a dihedral angle of 70.2 (1)° (mean planes include C and N atoms). A weak C—H...O intramolecular hydrogen bond involving a carbonyl O atom as acceptor stabilizes the observed molecular conformation.

Physical Activity and Lung Function Growth in a Cohort of Chinese School Children: A Prospective Study

Abstract: Backgrounds/objectives Evidence on the association between physical activity and lung function in children is sparse. The aim of this study was to evaluate children’s lung function growth in relation to their physical activity level in Chinese children. Methods A total of 1713 school children aged 9.89±0.86 years who were asthma-free at baseline were followed-up for 18 months from 2006 to 2008 in Guangzhou, China. Information on physical activity and other socio-economic status were obtained from self-administered questionnaires. Lung function tests were performed with a standard procedure. Results At the baseline survey, physically active girls had significantly higher forced vital capacity (FVC) than inactive girls (1.79 l vs. 1.75 l, p<0.05). The growth rates for lung function indices were significantly higher for girls who were physically active at either or both follow-up surveys than those inactive at both surveys during the follow-up period forced expiratory flows at 25% (FEF25) difference per year (dpy) (0.20 l/s vs. 0.15 l/s), forced expiratory flows at 75% (FEF75) dpy (0.57 l/s vs. 0.45 l/s) and forced expiratory flows between 25% and 75% (FEF25-75) dpy (0.36 l/s vs. 0.28 l/s) (all p<0.05). Conclusions Physical activity is positively associated with lung function growth among Chinese school-aged girls. Promotion of physical activity among children is of great importance.
