Non-Newtonian Power-Law Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer over a Non-Linearly Stretching Surface  [PDF]

Abstract: The problem of magneto-hydrodynamic flow and heat transfer of an electrically conducting non-Newtonian power-law fluid past a non-linearly stretching surface in the presence of a transverse magnetic field is considered. The stretching velocity, the temperature and the transverse magnetic field are assumed to vary in a power-law with the distance from the origin. The flow is induced due to an infinite elastic sheet which is stretched in its own plane. The governing equations are reduced to non-linear ordinary differential equations by means of similarity transformations. These equations are then solved numerically by an implicit finite-difference scheme known as Keller-Box method. The numerical solution is found to be dependent on several governing parameters, including the magnetic field parameter, power-law index, velocity exponent parameter, temperature exponent parameter, Modified Prandtl number and heat source/sink parameter. A systematic study is carried out to illustrate the effects of these parameters on the fluid velocity and the temperature distribution in the boundary layer. The results for the local skin-friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are tabulated and discussed. The results obtained reveal many interesting behaviors that warrant further study on the equations related to non-Newtonian fluid phenomena.

Abstract: An analytical description for the linear and nonlinear acoustic fields in lossy medium of a focusing source is derived. The relationship of pressure amplitudes at focus for fundamental and the second harmonic waves is discussed. At high linear focusing gainG, a new method using the insert substitution method for measuring the acoustic nonlinear parameterB/A of biological tissues is presented. Results for some biological tissues are experimentally obtained.

Abstract: An analysis has been carried out to study the effect of hydrodynamic laminar boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a dusty fluid over an unsteady stretching surface in the presence of non-uniform heat source/sink. Heat transfer characteristics are examined for two different kinds of boundary conditions, namely 1) variable wall temperature and 2) variable heat flux. The governing partial differential equations are transformed to system of ordinary differential equations. These equations are solved numerically by applying RKF-45 method. The effects of various physical parameters such as magnetic parameter, dust interaction parameter, number density, Prandtl number, Eckert number, heat source/sink parameter and unsteadiness parameter on velocity and temperature profiles are studied.

Abstract:
采用考虑汽液两相蒸发与冷凝的两流体模型和热相变模型,基于不同充汽流量和温度耦合的边界条件,进行了不同汽源参数下船用蒸汽蓄热器充汽过程数值模拟,分析了不同充汽流量和温度对蒸汽蓄热器充汽过程动态特性的影响。计算结果表明,充热能量一定条件下,充汽温度越高,蓄热器内部蒸汽温度越高,温度场和速度场分布越不均匀;充汽流量降低,蒸汽射流效应更加强烈。
Two-fluid model and thermal change model with considerations of evaporation and condensation for vapor and liquid were utilized. Based on the coupled boundary conditions with different charging flow rates and temperatures, numerical investigation on the influence of different steam source parameters on charging process of marine steam accumulator was carried out. Effects of different charging flow rates and temperatures on the dynamic characteristics of charging process for steam accumulator were analyzed. The calculated results showed that higher charging tem-perature resulted in higher temperature for steam in an accumulator in the term of certain charging energy per unit time, causing nonuniform temperature and flow field. Lower charging flow rate could cause stronger steam jet.

Asymmetric Joint Source-Channel Coding for Correlated Sources with Blind HMM Estimation at the Receiver

Abstract: We consider the case of two correlated sources, and . The correlation between them has memory, and it is modelled by a hidden Markov chain. The paper studies the problem of reliable communication of the information sent by the source over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel when the output of the other source is available as side information at the receiver. We assume that the receiver has no a priori knowledge of the correlation statistics between the sources. In particular, we propose the use of a turbo code for joint source-channel coding of the source . The joint decoder uses an iterative scheme where the unknown parameters of the correlation model are estimated jointly within the decoding process. It is shown that reliable communication is possible at signal-to-noise ratios close to the theoretical limits set by the combination of Shannon and Slepian-Wolf theorems.

Abstract: 利用宽频带流动台网记录的地震P波和S波到时,根据一维和三维地壳速度模型,对天山中部及其邻近地区1997~1998年的地震进行了重新定位,以重新确定的震源参数为依据分析了地壳的活动性.震源分布表明,造山带边缘和内部的大部分断裂都显示出活动的迹象,它们对天山的地壳构造变动起到明显的作用;塔拉斯-费尔干纳断裂的活动具有分段特征:其东南段以及西南天山的部分断裂目前活动比较弱,西北段受周边断裂的影响活动较强;另外造山带边缘的构造活动有向山前盆地渗透(Penetration)的趋势.30~40km深度的地震活动表明,天山中部的地壳中下层仍然具有一定的破裂条件,它们与壳幔边界附近热扰动的驱动有关,暗示小尺度地幔对流或软流层上涌等动力作用仍在持续进行.
Performance Analysis of Dynamic Source Routing Protocol for Ad Hoc Networks Based on Taguchi’s Method

Abstract: Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET) are self-organizing, multi-hop wireless networks. The MANETs are rapidly deplorable due to the absence of a fixed infrastructure. A number of routing protocols have been proposed in solving routing problems for this type of network, to provide and maintain better connectivity in the network. Before being implemented in real life, the performance of a routing protocol is evaluated primarily through the simulation experiments. This paper presents Taguchi’s method to optimize networks parameters of dynamic source routing protocol for such mentioned networks. Performance analysis of the drop rate are conducted based on three factors namely terrain size, pause time, and node velocity. An L4 orthogonal array was used to design the experiment. The study indicated that, among the factors considered, terrain was found to have strongest effects, followed by pause time. By taking into consideration factorial effects, the optimal levels were found to be A1, B1, and C1, corresponding to terrain size of 25 × 25 m2, pause time of 15 seconds, and node velocity of 0.72 m/s. Using these factor-levels combination, a minimum of 3.26% drop rate can be obtained.
The Semi-blind Source Extraction Algorithm for Array Radar Signal

Abstract: A semi-blind source extraction algorithm for noisy mixtures based on a linear predictor is proposed. The novel algorithm is firstly validated using the benchmark data and then is applied to extract array radar signal suffering from jamming interference. The results showed that the novel algorithm can effectively extract the target signal in radar echo. Thus, it has practical application prospect in array radar for increasing anti - jamming interference ability.

Abstract: 基于有机岩石学理论,对柴达木盆地北缘冷湖地区下侏罗统烃源岩进行系统的研究评价,结果表明:冷湖地区下侏罗统烃源岩有机碳含量在2.58%~6.7%之间,生烃潜量在10.5~13.6mg/g之间,有机质丰度高,属好烃源岩。根据该区烃源岩热解特征(Tmax与IH、D%的关系)及甾烷C27—C28-C29三角图判定其有机质类型以Ⅱ1型、Ⅱ2型为主,部分为Ⅰ型,以陆源有机质输入为主,混有水生浮游动植物。根据RO,CPI、C31升藿烷22S/(22S+22R)值、C29,20S/(20S+20R)值、C299ββ/(αα+ββ)值和Ts/Tm等值随深度增加呈现出有规律变化的特点,认为该区烃源岩大部分处于低熟—成熟阶段.小部分已经达到高成熟阶段。
