Abstract: The physiology of the plants has come to be a formidable challenge. Despite best efforts, the mysteries remain, most of the processes identified cannot be played in vitro, and to date it cannot be said that knowledge about the complex biochemical processes of the plant is understood properly. The need to produce food is an emergency in the world, so any knowledge that will allow us to advance in this sense is important. Our discovery about the intrinsic property of melanin transform light energy into chemical energy by means of the dissociation of the molecule of water, such as chlorophyll in plants, represents a turning point in relation to the chemical reaction so far considered the most important in the world: photosynthesis.

Abstract: We began a study about the three main causes of blindness in 1990, because their incidence and prevalence have not changed in the last forty years. Twelve years later we concluded that the main source of energy for the human retina is water, not ATP. And this is also true for the entire human body. Water is the main source of energy. The amazing capability of eukaryotic cells to break or dissociate the water molecule was unsuspected to us because it takes 2000℃ degrees to dissociate water in a laboratory environment, and until today, it was believed that only plants were capable of accomplishing this. Photosynthesis occurs in humans as it does in plants. The water that we drink every day is not just to wash away detritus and toxins; it is not just a cleaner, nor a simple solvent. When our body dissociates the water molecule, cells are able to get their energy from Hydrogen (Hydrogen is the energy carrier that Nature uses the most). Water is our main source of energy. If our body couldn’t acquire energy from water, we would need to eat between 50 - 170 kg (110 - 374 lbs) daily. In any system, when a generalized failure occurs, we must suspect energy first. Parkinson and Alzheimer’s Disease are examples of a generalized failure. That explains why it is not uncommon that patients improve dramatically with pharmacological stimulation of the human photosynthesis process. Recall that the brain needs energy not only to grow or to perform its functions, but also to preserve its form and shape. The best energy for human cells is Hydrogen.
On the Accuracy of the Complete Basis Set Extrapolation for Anionic Systems: A Case Study of the Electron Affinity of Methane  [PDF]

Abstract: Recent experimental evidence suggests again the existence of the metastable methane anion in plasma swarms. In order to test the reliability of the complete basis set (CBS) extrapolation scheme with augmented correlation-consistent basis sets for anionic molecules, we study the evolution of the electron affinity of methane with benchmark ab initio calculations with aug-cc basis sets up to aug-cc-pV6Z + diffuse. Geometry optimizations and vibrational analysis were done at the MP2 level. The electron affinity (EA) was calculated at the MP2 and CCSD(T) levels with and without frozen core and including the extrapolations to the CBS limit. Using the aug-cc-pVnZ basis sets it is found that two non-decreasing CCSD(T) CBS limits exist for the EA (0.29 and 0.53 eV) obtained with the n = 3, 4, 5 and n = 4, 5, 6 series, respectively. A new scheme is proposed which can be generalized for very accurate quantum chemical description of molecular anions: the standard aug-cc-pVnZ basis sets can be supplemented with extra-diffuse orbitals using a simple even-tempered scheme. This yields a reliable CBS extrapolation method to develop a (discrete approximation of a) continuum anionic state near ionization, viz., one that closely matches the energy of the corresponding neutral state. These results show that CH4 has no stable anions of 2A1 symmetry, implying that plasma swarms with anionic methane consist of metastable rather than stable methane anions.

Abstract: the presence of native isolates of bacillus thuringiensis was determinedby the analysis of 87 samples collected from different regions of cuba. the pasteurization was utilized for the selection of sporulating colonies growed in nutrient medium. the colonies were selected because of their aspect and morphology by stereoscopic observation. it was observed the typical bacilar shape, position and morphology of the endospore by light microscopy, characteristics of cereus group, bacillus genus. the bacterium was recognized basically due to the presence of a paraesporal crystal. the b. thuringiensis index obtainedwas determined by the relation between the numbers of b. thuringiensis colonies found with respect to the total number of colonies examined in the sample. 1-1,5 cm diameter colonies, plane, opaque, white-gray, lightly scabby consistence, irregular border, vegetative cells the typical bacilar shape and elipsoidal terminal endospores inside the vegetative cell allowed the selection of 609 sporulating colonies. from these, 341 colonies were classified as b. thuringiensis based on the production of parasporal crystal. b. thuringiensis isolates showed three crystal morphologies: bipyramidal mainly, amorphous, two isolates produced small parasporal bodies which appeared as a ?cap? on the spore. the b. thuringiensis index varied from 0.37 to 0.74 and the b. thuringiensis index total was 0.56

Abstract: given the geo-physic consistency of the narrow chilean territory, extended between volcanoes and tectonic plates, the occurrence of natural catastrophes has been diachronic in its bi-centennial existence as a nation. the oral as well as the written traditions have expressed this seismic nature as an ancestral ingredient of national identity. in neruda's vital circumstances (1904-1973) four earthquakes took place, whose semiotic aftershocks resound in his writing. noticing the telluric fate in this finis terrae, the poet's voice invites us to avoid mechanical and collective forgetfulness, warning us to install in the social imagination preventive attitudes to face futures disasters.

Abstract: cervical cancer is one of the most common invasive neoplasia in women in underdeveloped countries. in an effort to improve treatment outcomes neoadjuvant chemotherapy, adjuvant and concurrent chemoradiation has been tested. five randomized trials and two meta-analysis studying cisplatin-based chemoradiation have demonstrated a significant survival advantage. based on the results of these five randomized trials the national cancer institute released a clinical announcement stating that cisplatin-based chemoradiotherapy as the new standard therapy for locally advanced cervical cancer. although these treatment advances have improved the cure rate for women with locally advanced cervical cancer, a large percentage of women will die of locally recurrent and metastatic cancer. this review will critically evaluate the evidence supporting the available treatment modalities for locally advanced cancer of the uterine cervix
Principales Causas de Cáncer Atendidas en un Centro Hospitalario: Costa Rica 2003-2007

Abstract: objective: to analyze the main causes of cancer in patients at the san vicente de paúl hospital and determine their frequency according to the patient?s place of origin. materials and methods: observational, descriptive, analytic study with 1226 cancer patients discharged from the san vicente de paúl hospital (01/01/00 al 30/08/2007). the descriptive analysis was made with excel? (incidence/100.000 hab/county). a main components analysis and a poisson regression were performed. this regression was done taking as baseline the county with the lowest incidence according to each cancer type, and for mortality, each county was compared with deaths from all heredia province. results: 38% were male and 62% female. the most frequent neoplasies were gastric and breast. the main components analysis demonstrated that belén, sarapiquí, santo domingo and heredia counties present the lowest prevalences, and san rafael county the highest. poisson regression showed that the highest relative risk is at san isidro county for thyroid carcinoma (rr 9,89), and analyzing mortality, stomach cancer is the one with most deaths (rr 22). conclusion: this analysis was made with hospital discharges and not with official data from all heredia province. it was found that the most common neoplasies in this period were breast, stomach, cervix, colon and prostate cancer. magnitude and direction of the associations highly suggest a relationship between patient?s place of origin and the type of cancer presented. this information must be considered to evaluate the hospital priorities.
