Abstract: this paper takes the foucauldian concepts of event (événement) and archive to make an exploratory exercise on the development of procedures to select and analyze two educational videos - "heart: relationships and external morphology" (1977) and "hypothyroidism in childhood" (1976) - produced at the center of educational technology for health, nutes/ufrj. we aimed to indicate the contribution of foucauldian notions for the analysis of such material. in the analytical process, we have moved together with foucault towards his late works, where we found elements that enabled an analysis of how individuals, exercising their freedom, may constitute themselves as political and ethical subjects, in the intersection of education and health, two highly disciplinary and normalizing fields.

We consider that the professional fields of education, health and health education have practices that govern the conduct of individuals so we developed a reflection that aims to contribute towards problematizing professional training in these fields. Based on a testimony extracted from an educational video that presents the theme of prejudice and compulsory isolation for people with Hansen's disease, we discuss the peculiarity of the exclusion mechanisms, as postulated by Michel Foucault, and present examples that show to what extent these mechanisms have still functioned recently with those who have the disease in Brazil. Revisiting the events that led to the change of the disease's name - from leprosy to Hansen's disease - we analyzed the struggle of a Brazilian doctor against prejudice, making an ethical reflection following the clues of the Foucaultian investigations on the theme of the constitution of the moral and active subject, the sovereign of himself.

Abstract: in this paper, we present a discussion on health education and health promotion among elderly people, based on empirical studies of qualitative nature is presented, with the aim of analyzing the ways in which discourse is produced within the political sphere and how these are subjectivated. we obtained the data through semistructured interviews with elderly people and with professionals who were directly involved in implementing public healthcare policies geared towards the elderly population. after briefly discussing the recommended guidelines for such policies, we present the results. these show that professionals regard physical activity as the principal strategy for promoting "healthy old age", and that elderly people's discourse reproduces these constructions to a large extent. foucault's notion of biopower and some notions stemming from cultural studies helped us to understand how individuals are subjectivated in relation to what is advocated as a healthy way to live.

Abstract: this article is based on an empirical research project of social nature that analyzes the meanings students of medicine attribute to the groupings formed based on their initiative in a public university and discusses the relationship between this space and the development of citizenship in a consumption society in which important movements are taking place. the empirical material was obtained from observations made in several scenarios experienced by the students and from semi-structured interviews carried out among students of medicine, the theoretical reference for which were notions of critical education and post-structuralism. the studies reveal parties, events, and celebrations, largely visible and strongly mercantilist social practices, are not hegemonic in the university space. there are also study groups, religious gatherings, debates on racial and sexual choice affirmation, community activities and scientific events, even though less visible and prestigious. in this context, academic center and sports centers, in addition to their respective purposes of political and academic engagement and of organizing sporting events, are important spaces for daily experiences and to bring students from different undergraduate periods. based on these results, we discuss aspects of the relationship to be established between these spaces and the university curriculum, considering values of solidarity, liberty, and social obligations.
