Enhancement in QoS for Hybrid Networks Using IEEE 802.11e HCCA with Extended AODV Routing Protocol  [PDF]

Abstract: The mobile ad hoc network (MANET) with infrastructure networks (hybrid networks) has several practical uses. The utility of hybrid network is increased in real time applications by providing some suitable quality of service. The quality thresholds are imposed on parameters like end-to-end delay (EED), jitter, packet delivery ratio (PDR) and throughput. This paper utilizes the extended ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol for communication between ad hoc network and fixed wired network. This paper also uses the IEEE 802.11e medium access control (MAC) function HCF Controlled Channel Access (HCCA) to support quality of service (QoS) in hybrid network. In this paper two simulation scenarios are analyzed for hybrid networks. The nodes in wireless ad hoc networks are mobile in one scenario and static in the other scenario. Both simulation scenarios are used to compare the performance of extended AODV with HCCA (IEEE 802.11e) and without HCCA (IEEE802.11) for real time voice over IP (VoIP) traffic. The extensive set of simulations results show that the performance of extended AODV with HCCA (IEEE 802.11e) improves QoS in hybrid network and it is unaffected whether the nodes in wireless ad hoc networks are mobile or static.

Abstract: The precise control upon each degree of freedom of a robotic arm is a great challenge in implementing industrial work. This paper aims to design a novel controller for an automated robotic arm. A discrete Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control technique is being used to replace the complex electronic circuitry, which would greatly reduce the cost and size of the controller. DC motors will be controlled on the basis of Closed-loop System using an avr (Atmega 16/32) microcontroller. Transfer functions have been derived for mathematical modeling of the system through which the stability of the system can be evaluated prior to fabrication.

Abstract: 2221 consecutive live births taking place between March 1994 and February 1995 were evaluated for a minimum period of 5 days to note for the occurrence of various normal anatomical variants specially those of skin. Birth weight, gestational age, maternal age, socio-economic status and consanguinity were carefully recorded in all the cases. Mongolian spots (72%), Epstein pearls (43.8%), Milia (26.2%) and Erythema toxicum (25.2%), were the common dermatological variants noted. Maturity of the babies and possibly genetic factors (consanguinity) are important factors in their causation as ordered in our study.

Abstract: Reaction-diffusion (RD) mechanisms in chemical and biological systems can yield a variety of patterns that may be functionally important. We show that diffusive coupling through the inactivating component in a generic model of coupled relaxation oscillators give rise to a wide range of spatio-temporal phenomena. Apart from analytically explaining the genesis of anti-phase synchronization and spatially patterned oscillatory death regimes in the model system, we report the existence of a chimera state, characterized by spatial co-occurrence of patches with distinct dynamics. We also observe propagating phase defects in both one- and two-dimensional media resembling persistent structures in cellular automata, whose interactions may be used for computation in RD systems.

Abstract: We examine the conjectured asymptotic shape of the three dimensional corner growth model [Olejarz et. al.,PRL, 108, 016102 (2012)] by mapping the model onto a restricted solid on solid model on a triangular lattice. By choosing appropriate boundary conditions, we are able to obtain high precision numerical results for the growth velocity using Monte Carlo simulations. We find that the numerical results are not consistent with the conjecture.

Abstract: The purpose of the present paper is to carry out the reliability of a redundant system with common cause failures. A stochastic Model of two units is developed in which one unit is operative and other is kept as cold standby. The unit may fail either partially or completely. The failure time distributions are exponential where as the repair distribution is arbitrary. The expression for reliability is derived using supplementary variable technique. The numerical results for a particular case have also been made.

Abstract: Wireless sensor nodes can experience faults during deployment either due to its hardware malfunctioning or software failure or even harsh environmental factors and battery failure. This results into presence of anomalies in their time-series collected data. So, these anomalies demand for reliable detection strategies to support in long term and/or in large scale WSN deployments. These data of physical variables are transmitted continuously to a repository for further processing of information as data stream. This paper presents a novel and distributed machine learning approach towards different anomalies detection based on incorporating the combined properties of wavelet and support vector machine (SVM). The time-series filtered data are passed through mother wavelets and several statistical features are extracted. Then features are classified using SVM to detect anomalies as short fault (SF) and noise fault (NF). The results obtained indicate that the proposed approach has excellent performance in fault detection and its classification of WS data.

Abstract: This research paper describes simple analytical method for determination of Camylofin dihydrochloride and Nimesulide in tablet formulation by Gas chromatography method. Benzoic acid was used as internal standard. Validation was carried out in compliance with the International Conference on Harmonization guidelines. The method utilized GC (Agilent Technologies 6890 N Network GC system with FID detector), and RTX-5 capillary column (5% diphenyl-95% dimethyl polysiloxane), 30 m × 0.53 mm, 1.5 µm as stationary phase. Helium was used as the carrier gas at a flow rate of 1.5 mL?min–1. The proposed method was validated for linearity, LOD, LOQ, accuracy, precision, ruggedness and solution stability. It can be conveniently adopted for routine quality control analysis.
Total phenolic, flavonoids and tannin contents in different extracts of Artemisia absinthium

Abstract: The A. absinthium is commonly known as wormwood having antipyretic, antimicrobial, antifungal, diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties. Natural bioactive compounds like phenols and flavonoids are the important secondary metabolites in plant posses high scavenging ability of free radical and reactive oxygen species produced in mammals. To maximize these agents in the extract different solvents viz. aqueous, ethanolic and chloroform are used for the extraction procedure (among these different extractions). Current study was aimed to determine the levels of total phenolic, flavonoids and tannin contents. Observations suggested that ethanolic extract has significantly high (P<0.05) concentration of flavonoids, phenolic and tannin contents as compared to aqueous and chloroform extracts. Therefore, ethanolic extract of A. absinthium has greater potential to scavenge free radicals/ ROS and can produce more beneficial effects as compared to aqueous and chloroform extracts.
