Abstract: This article aims at discussing the institutionalization of Primary Education in Sergipe demonstrating the interdependence of foreign and Brazilian laws, which were published in the newspaper Jornal do Aracaju (1872). The evidences for it can be found through ads, educational legislation, and the Provincial Assembly speeches on Primary Education in the 19th century, in Sergipe. The sources mentioned establish an interdependent relationship among state, family and government agents, mediated by laws and the press, having been analyzed under the historiographical matrix of Cultural History. The research demonstrates the fertility of the debates in the Imperial period and the plurality of educational practices and aspects that produced a school form that was implemented throughout the 19th century.

Abstract: This paper investigates the transformations that contemporary education is suffering under the new requirements arisen from the information era regarding the representation of time and the production of information and knowledge. Through a bibliographical study, this paper moves the discussion between the dematerialization of space, the acceleration of time and the strangeness of multicultural knowledge where universal concepts and instant question in a relentless need to innovate and reform the foundations of science, education, arts and culture are noticed. Based on the reflections of Pierre Levy, Michel Foucault, David Harvey, Paul Virilio and ágnes Heller it mentions uncertainties that denounce the apparent inefficiency of institutions that seek immediate solutions in Education in order to reduce the inability to keep up with the dynamic contemporary requirements.

Abstract: This article reflects on the performance of Arnaldo Antunes in Ao vivo no estúdio, considering that lyric and music are not artistic categories considered separately by the researcher of Brazilian Popular Song. In the case of this DVD, also other elements must be present in the analysis. Together parameters linguistic, musical, visual and technological translate the poetic experience of the artist and the listener, or express personal meanings, social, cultural and aesthetic proposed jointly by the work in every way.
Respostas fisiológicas de plantas amaz?nicas de regi?es alagadas às mudan?as climáticas globais

Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042010000100002
Abstract: according to the last report of ipcc (intergovernmental panel of climatic change, 2007) an increase in atmospheric co2 concentration to ca. 0.072% is predicted to occur until the middle of this century. as a result, a tandem elevation of temperature of ca. +3 °c and a decrease in precipitation are to be expected. it has also been suggested that this scenario may lead to a gradual substitution of the tropical forest for savanna-like vegetation in eastern parts of the amazon. within this perspective, a worth question is how the tree species that make up the amazonian floodplains will respond to the global climatic change? although predictions have been quite pessimistic, flooding of part of the amazon will continue to occur for several years and it is important to understand its synergistic effects within the scenario of climate change. in this work, features related to plant metabolism and hormonal signaling during flooding is revised, and the possible effects that the climatic changes might have on plants from the amazon are discussed. the information available in the literature suggests that under flooding, plants tend to mobilize storage compounds to supply carbon demand needed for maintenance metabolism under the effect of stress caused by the lack of oxygen. in contrast, under elevated co2 concentration, plants tend to increase photosynthesis and biomass. with an increase of about 3 °c these parameters may increase even more. alternatively, with flooding, there is a general decrease in growth potential and it is possible that while favorable conditions of elevated co2 and temperature prevail, the positive effects may be counterbalanced by the negative effects of flooding. thus, the physiological responses might be imperceptible or promote further growth up to the middle of the 21st century for most species that occur in the floodplains. however, if temperature and co2 levels surpass the threshold of optimal conditions for most plants, a decrease in physiological

Abstract: it was verified in the district of s?o paulo, brazil that 9.5% of all infant deaths (children less than one year old) did not have birth certificates; 82.5% of them were deaths ocurred in hospitals. this data was analised considering the law of public register, decree no. 4857 of november, 9, 1939 with the modifications presented in the decree no. 5318 of november, 29, 1940. from this, some propositions were made to hospital administrators. considering the observed "under-register", the district of s?o paulo vital rates and ratios, that utilize the number of live births in their computation, must be corrected.

The objective of this work is to check the concepts of school violence among the members of a private school, in Vitória, and to analyze how they deal with violence. The majority of them take into account two aspects of school violence: the physical and the verbally expressed ones. The family which does not follow socially-acceptable parameters has been pointed out as the main cause of school violence; second, comes the enviroment in which the student lives or where the school is located, which shows the little importance attached to activities developed within the school building.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to develop a new low-calorie symbiotic beverage made from yacon (prebiotic source) and soy extracts, containing probiotic Bifidobacterium animalis ssp. lactis BB-12. The synbiotic beverage was first produced with a range of sucrose concentrations in order to determine ideal sweetness by an acceptance test using a “just-about-right scale”. Sucrose was then replaced by sucralose or aspartame to produce sugar-free beverages. Characteristics including viable cell numbers, physicochemical properties, sensorial characteristics and fructoo-ligosaccharides content were investigated. The ideal sweetness of the beverages with sucrose, aspartame and sucralose were 7.28%, 0.0486% and 0.0167%, respectively. Sucralose exhibited higher scores in acceptance test and was used to replace sucrose in the low-calorie symbiotic beverage. The synbiotic beverage exhibited counts of Bifidobacterium spp. of 108 CFU.mL-1, sufficient condition to be considered probiotic. The chemical composition of the product was (g/100g): 2.91 of protein, 1.41 of fat, 2.41 of total carbohydrate; 0.82 of FOS and 148.22 Kj of energy value. The synbiotic beverage developed in this study may be successful in health applications, due to their functional ingredients (soy, probiotic bacteria and yacon prebiotics) that can afford benefits to health or can present disease-preventing properties, beyond their inherent nutritional value. In addition this low-calorie beverage can be consumed by diabetic individuals and people concerned about the ingestion of calories.
