Abstract: The present study investigates the chemical composition of the African plant Parkia biglobosa (Fabaceae) roots and barks by Liquid Chromatography - Electrospray Ionization and Direct Injection Tandem Mass Spectrometry analysis. Mass spectral data indicated that B-type oligomers are present, namely procyanidins and prodelphinidins, with their gallate and glucuronide derivatives, some of them in different isomeric forms. The analysis evidenced the presence of up to 40 proanthocyanidins, some of which are reported for the first time. In this study, the antiradical activity of extracts of roots and barks from Parkia biglobosa was evaluated using DPPH method and they showed satisfactory activities.
Dinamicas de regenera??o, degenera??o e desmatamento da vegeta??o provocadas por fatores climáticos e geomorfológicos: uma análise geoecológica através de SIG
Silveira, Carla Semiramis;Silva, Viviane Vidal da;
Revista árvore , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-67622010000600008
Abstract: the purpose of this paper was to evaluate the influence of climate (insolation and annual precipitation) and relief (slope) on the land use and forest changes in a mountainous watershed (paquequer / rj) representative of the atlantic forest. land use thematic maps for different dates (1976 and 1996) were derived from aerial photographs and spot-3 xs/pan image. land use and natural regeneration changes in 20 years were classified as initial natural regeneration, late natural regeneration, degeneration and deforestation. gis spatial informations were dealt with arcgis 9.0. while initial regeneration occurs indistinctly of the climatic and relief parameters, it is suggested that advanced regeneration is a more selective process. that is, advanced regeneration occurs mainly in areas with less insolation and higher humidity. on the other hand, the deforestation for human use tends to be more intense in lower and greater insolation slopes (toward north).

Abstract: The number of suicide case and attempting are increasing at last decades and became a great concernin many countries. In front to my observations and literature consulting, an important question emerged from: Do theprofessional who care people with attempting suicide history are prepared to deal with this situation? This study wasconduced on a Phenomenological Inquiry method with medicine doctors, nurses and nursing staff professionalsPsychiatric Clinic at the Emergency Unity of the Sao Paulo Ribeir o Preto Clinical Hospital, from July to August2003. The following guiding question was proposed: How suicide shows for you? From interviewing answers analysis,thematic categories was constructed revealing, thus, that the suicide is shown to these professionals as something thatoccurs at a desperation moment, which people appeals to call attention and something that awakes to them a diversityof feelings. From speeches analysis was possible to understand that the study evidences the necessity of introducing,in mental health area, specialized professionals. The specialization makes possible to the professionals to better dealwith the preconceptions and difficulties, thus opening, perspectives for a better care to the people whom do notperceive sense in their own lives.

Revista Mal-estar e Subjetividade , 2010,
Abstract: This article has as objective to analyze the building process of ethnics identitary narratives, overall of Afro-descendents, in the scholar environment of the South Region of Brazil, emphasizing, starting from a case study, Vale do Rio Pardo, nominally in the region of Santa Cruz do Sul municipality which is characterized by the German immigrant speech. Starting from the data search obtained by INEP, IBGE and NUPES, it is accomplished an analysis of the ethnic distribution of the state scholar population focusing the regions of German colonizations with the aim to characterize the visibility/invisibility processes of the Afro-descendent populations as well as the processes of exclusion legitimated by social immobility originated from the surrounding schools environment, where the absolute majority of the Afro-descendents are found. The research demonstrates that the processes of exclusion, which do not reduce themselves to the ethnicity, are related to the urban territoriality and to the localization of the schools, legitimating the social immobility and the processes of stigmatization, in case, of ethnic standard. The schools not just constitute identitary dispositives, as subjective the social subjects building identities and ethnic stereotipies that maculate the Afro-descendents subjects, blocking wider intercultural relationships, exchanges and processes of alterities that make possible the affirmation of the links of communitary belonging in the municipality in study, promoting the invisibility and the identitary exclusion.

The digital images generated by remote sensors often contain noises that are inherent in the process of imaging and transmission. The application of digital processing techniques greatly enhances the ability to extract information on surface targets from remote sensing data. When digital images are used with high spatial resolution, one of the problems emerging the high variability of targets presents in such images. From the computational point of view, the use of partial differential equations is favored by the large number of numerical methods showed in the literature. Many of the models are considered non-complex both from the mathematical and computational standpoints, due to the characteristics of explicit equations. This work uses techniques of the partial differential equations (PDE) and mathematical morphology to extract cartographic features in digital images of the remote sensing. The selected study area corresponds to an image containing part of the Mário Covas Ring Road, located in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo (SP), Brazil. The results are promising and show the high potential of using mathematical morphology in the field of cartography.

The Furniture Industry In Londrina A Indústria de Móveis em Londrina

Semina : Ciências Sociais e Humanas , 2004, DOI: 10.5433/
Abstract: The Brazilian furniture industry is organized in clusters. Cluster is an agglomerate of located companies in a certain area that you/they develop their activities in an articulate way and with a logic in common and whose dynamics depends on the fact that those companies accomplish similar activities, use specific labor and raw materials, etc. inducing interaction and synergy, due to articulated performance, they provide to the group of companies competitive advantages that are reflected in an differentiated performance. The companies agglomerated geographically, mainly SMEs - small and medium enterprises - present success - greater competitiveness, generation of jobs, technological innovations, etc. In the area of Londrina - PR, there is a geographical agglomerate of companies producing of pieces of furniture, with prominence for the residential pieces of furniture and of office. The study tried to identify if the geographical gathering of furniture companies in the area corresponds or not to a cluster. A great potential was verified for the development of the same, due to the proximity with customers and suppliers and in relation to the available infrastructure of services. However, any form of cooperative action was not verified among companies or enter companies to develop complementary activities, it was not also verified any institution or support association for the companies. It is concluded that in the area of Londrina, the cluster is incipient because in spite of the gathering of companies, due to the low vertical links and absence of horizontal and multilateral links that characterize more advanced clusters, the synergetic effects of the gathering are not verified.
Diversity in bee (Hymenoptera: apoidea) and social wasp (Hymenoptera: Vespidae, Polistinae) community in "Campos Rupestres", Bahia, Brazil
Silva-Pereira, Viviane da;Santos, Gilberto M.M.;
Neotropical Entomology , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-566X2006000200003
Abstract: hymenoptera such as bees and social wasps are regular floral visitors in "campos rupestres" vegetation. a community of bees and social wasps was studied during floral visitation in an area of "campos rupestres", at chapada diamantina, ba, brazil, from september 2001 to april 2002. the community was described in relation to diversity, evenness, and dominance rank, considering the individuals abundance (h' = 2.14/ j' = 0.55) and biomass (h' = 2.34/ j' = 0.60). thirty nine bee (588 individuals/ 15.742 g) and 11 social wasp species (52 individuals/ 2.156 g) were collected, being the first report of social wasps for the brazilian "campos rupestres". the main species regarding number of individuals were trigona spinipes (fabricius), apis mellifera l., frieseomelitta francoi (moure), and bombus brevivillus franklin. about 48% of the species were represented by a single individual. there was an inversion in the dominance rank when the species biomass was considered. b. brevivillus, a. mellifera, t. spinipes, and other species represented by 15 individuals or less, such as the social wasps synoeca cyanea (olivier), polistes canadensis (l.) and myschocyttarus drewseni (saussure), and the bees eufriesea nigrohirta (friese), xylocopa grisescens lepeletier and megachile (pseudocentron) sp.1 were the predominant species. the use of biomass in diversity analysis permitted to detect differences in the relative contribution of species in hierarchy dominance. the comparison between bee faunas from different areas indicates a large similarity of the sampled fauna in palmeiras (bahia state) with neighboring ecosystems, although with low values of similarity.
